  2. 21st Century Breakdown was indeed released 15 years ago today! 15 May, 2009. This was what my wall looked like back then. I remember getting that Gloria poster from HMV and pulling down a Sum 41 one to make room for it. On this day 16 years ago (15 May 2008), the Foxboro Hot Tubs played their first show at the Stork Club in Oakland. "Dear Tub Heads, We just completed our debut at the dreamers bar called the Stork club in our beloved Alemeda county. Sting!!!" — The Rev on MySpace "The group was also graced with an appearance by Billie Joe’s sister, whose name could not be heard from where I was hyperventilating." — Stephen Buel, East Bay Express More photos: 19 years ago (15 May 2005), Green Day played in Omaha, NE on the American Idiot Tour. "I guess if I had to choose a 'my very first concert' even to take my nephew, I can't think of a better band to see than Green Day in 2005." — Sean McCarthy, The Daily Vault 22 years ago (15 May 2002), they played West Palm Beach, FL on the Pop Disaster Tour. 26 years ago (15 May 1998), they played in Henrietta (Rochester, NY) on the Nimrod Tour. 30 years ago (15 May 1994), they played another show in Berlin, Germany on the Dookie Tour. And finally, 32 years ago (15 May 1992), they played in Regina, Canada on the Kerplunk Tour.

  3. This came up on my Twitter even though it's already old but thought the swaying hips might be appreciated

  4. It's already 15 May in the UK so it's 21st Century Breakdown's 15th birthday today!

  5. I remember when I saw the May 15th release date was a Friday I thought it was so strange. Albums never came out on Friday! They came out on Tuesday! And now Friday release date is the standard. Green Day were ahead of the game!

  6. What I always hate about these ''new album'' speculations is that they always start way too soon. They haven't even started the goddamn Saviors Tour and people are already guessing when's the next album coming out. It gives me the feeling that people never truly enjoy the albums they put out and get bored ridiculously easy. I for example have no desire for new Green Day songs right now, because the ones that they put out will easily carry over Saviors Tour and I can't get bored of most of the songs Saviors has. There can always be delays with albums that people don't consider. For example, I think it's time for The Coverups to release a cover album. Drain You definitely deserves a studio version and they could throw one-two Coverups exclusive songs there aswell. Then there is Foxboro that hasn't done anything since 2008 (assuming you don't count Dos! as second Foxboro album, 'cause I don't) and Longshot has been on pause for several years aswell. Green Day could also finally produce stripped down acoustic album, which Billie proved with his ''Welcome to my panic'' podcast episode that it could really work. They could also release B-side album again, with hopefully State of Shock getting better version and speaking of Trilogy, they wanted to put out some ''best of trilogy'' album. All in all, I hate new album speculations. This is not directed to one single person, just general statement.

  10. Album sales equal to 220,000 according to a Facebook post. So.......Green Day or at least Jillie Bow is always writing. There's got to be at least a batch of new songs written, even if they will eventually be scrapped or transformed or combined with other ideas. Not enough for a thread right now, but Album 15 is coming. Probably won't hear anything in 2025. In 2026, they will likely be silent. Silent but working. 2027 we'll probably get the initial rumblings. Rumored to be in the studio and all that drama. Maybe some leaks. Toward the end of 27 we'll get a better idea of what's happening. Either an album pops out before 2028 or in 2028.

  13. Still the best song in the album. Crazy how good they are at doing these straight rock songs. Fucking banger for this summer.

  16. Much more excited for open vault from the past than for new stuff... I would LOVE a live versión of surrender/bastards of Young from that tour

  32. Was it red, pink, orange, cola and green for Warning? Or were there more? I don't remember now I'm glad they're acknowledging Warning too. BIAB and the musical vinyls would be cool as well. Like you I was lucky enough to get those for a regular price back in 2011 and was really shocked to see how much people are selling them for these days (as well as those Network represses!)

  37. On the one hand, it's a fun song that's giving me some strong summer vibes (kind of reminds me of MXPX "Kings of Hollywood" for some reason). On the other hand, the line "Don't want no money, don't want no fame. All I want's my records making my pain go away" always gives me a punch in the gut because I think it's Billie being 100% honest. It's one of those typical Billie songs: Happy, lighthearted and fun on the outside, but when you look closer, it's sad and painful.
