  1. Full show: From the description: Here is the first of many rare and previously uncirculated Green Day tapes from Arica Pelino's archive. Huge thanks to Arica for bringing them over and handing them off to me last month. I am going to let Arica introduce this one: "this show has only been released on audio format prior to this. 3. That’s a great interview lol. I’ve never read it before. It made me want to revisit Insomniac, so looks like that’s the album of the day today.

  4. Thanks to Arica Pelino for her footage and Shayne Stacy for digitizing this classic material. See the caption in the video for more info. This is just a teaser. Arica gave Shayne hours and hours of videotapes of East Bay bands including lots of never before seen Green Day material from her personal collection. With permission she is now sharing her stuff with fans for the first time! I’m starting this thread and will add to it as more stuff gets uploaded. In the meantime enjoy this small backstage clip from the Phoenix Theatre in 1991 and subscribe to Shayne’s channel.

  5. Oh yeah they definitely weren't a fan of nu metal. Few Warning era interviews where they expressed their dislike for it. There's a tv one where they were joking about how soft Green Day was compared to those bands and Billie was like "no I'm hard man - just give me something to break" (Limp Bizkit lyric)

  6. Some fun facts from the video: Apparently no one in the band knew that guy that stood on stage and kept singing into Billie’s mic, but he did that at many of their shows there (sometimes standing right in front of Billie) and may have been their first obsessed uber-fan. the dead bird story is true and was left addressed to him on the doorstep of 1640 (the warehouse). Already then the band were getting shit from jealous punks that didn’t like their growing popularity. This was even two years before they committed the sin of signing to a major.

  7. There is just something about this song that draws me in. From the moment we heard the poor recording in Canada (Montreal I think) the melody was stuck in my head. I think it might be my favourite, though not the one I think is the best song on the album, if that makes sense

  8. 1981 does have more streams that the other non-singles though, probably just because it's the first non-single you hear on the album and maybe the fact that it was the first song we heard for the album (live) You can look for the streams each Green Day song and album is getting here Songs - https://kworb.net/spotify/artist/7oPftvlwr6VrsViSDV7fJY_songs.html Albums - https://kworb.net/spotify/artist/7oPftvlwr6VrsViSDV7fJY_albums.html There's a lot of interesting things to take from these figures. Saviors (the album) is getting 296k daily streams now, less daily streams than AI/Dookie/Nimrod/21CB/Insomniac but still much more than the last few studio albums, though in the coming months/years, that figure will continue to fall. I think Saviors will continue to perform better than FOAM and the trilogy in terms of streaming however. Revolution Radio has a lot of total streams, being their 5th most streamed studio album, but is gaining much less streams than all their studio albums from 1994-2009. Father of All has more streams than Dos & Tré but less than Uno. I wouldn't be surprised if Dos starts gaining streams at a faster rate than FOAM at some point. Stray Heart is gaining daily streams faster than any other trilogy song, even more than Oh Love which is the hit of that era and has the most total streams. Considering Oh Love can be heard on both Uno and God's Favorite Band, this is surprising. Last Night on Earth is gaining a lot of streams, currently no. 12 in terms of daily streams, even though it was never released as a single.

  9. Yep, just noticed that. Let me fix that. It actually has 3,745,400 streams. Thanks for saying something! 😅 I don't think I have posted a Spotify number check without messing up, haha. Thanks to everyone who noticed, because I probably wouldn't have.

  10. Maybe its the Spotify Algorithm? I mean, this song was popular on 21st Tour but no so much. Maybe the algorithm is pushing the song for reasons like retention and likes.

  12. This song has been my favorite ever since I first heard it. It's the only one from the album "Saviors" that's on my daily playlist

  13. Speaking of shit talking bands, I've heard Green Day shittalked on Limp Bizkit in a couple Warning shows and jokingly played their song Nookie at a 1999 show with Mike on vocals. Looks like they're into shittalking bands! Let's not forget the GD-Slipknot beef. Billie hated Slipknot but Corey played a couple GD songs live (e.g. Pulling Teeth). Pretty funny.

  15. Was it red, pink, orange, cola and green for Warning? Or were there more? I don't remember now I'm glad they're acknowledging Warning too. BIAB and the musical vinyls would be cool as well. Like you I was lucky enough to get those for a regular price back in 2011 and was really shocked to see how much people are selling them for these days (as well as those Network represses!)

  16. Sean was Green Day roadie in the early days. John returned to the band for a few shows in early 1991 According to BJ sean was in the first incarnation of Sweet Children and they also had another drummer called Franz (https://www.instagram.com/p/C4pgqv1usz9/?img_index=4)

  17. I miss when he did story time (even if some of the stories may or may not have been exaggerated ). He told the Brando story at my show.

  18. Today, I’m feeling like Tre’s best performance in a song ever is on Peacemaker. This song requires stamina for the quick hi-hat hits, has super precise and pronounced drum fills, and has a nice swing-like feel on the ride cymbal during the “vendetta” sections. Just great drumming altogether in this song. Definitely one of my most played from 21st.

  19. I know! I giggled when it said Smashing Pumpkins were supporting because they used to talk tons of shit about them in the 90s lmao. I recently listened to a folder of random old audio interviews I found and they made negative comments about them in three different ones including one with Ben Weasel where he and GD agreed on them as a band to be eliminated from existence. They thought they were boring and pretentious. But to be fair they did used to talk shit about virtually every band out there that wasn't a small/unknown one from 1990s to early 2000s. Edit: Nice discussion from a 1996 interview where they praise the music but instead talk shit about them as people This interview also contains this gem from Billie on the subject of GD not being grunge/shoegazers (not about Pumpkins but hilarious) Half the interview is them shit talking various acts lol https://punkrocker.org.uk/punkinterviews/greenday.html

  21. Shame about Billie! But the other two would work well on either end of a shelf/display as a pair. The one time I bought an album bundle was to get those candles and once I had them I just had to make a Green Day shrine . They're my favourite piece of GD merch I never spent a lot on merch just got all albums on CD and bought or (more often) got gifted some random things over the years

  22. Super lucky to be the recipient of the first one! Thank you @Montclare Green Day and penguins, two of my absolute favourite things in the world. You are so clever and skilled to make these 👏👏👏😘

  23. Oh baby baby it's FWOOO Time. I forget this clean version Dos existed and it only came up as I searched for Lazy Bones and there was three versions. The explicit title is there, the explicit lyrics are there but the word is FWOO. Saving the children and whatnot. ( you can search Kill the DJ to find the clean Uno as well if you wanna hear "shoot that mmmpha down.
