And this is the answer to the question he’s been asked a few times recently, which is basically why does he still work so hard? The answer of course is his huge passion for music, it flows out of him.6 points

That review is perfect! I especially love this part: "Though he will be back with Green Day in the Summer to take over Wembley Stadium, tonight, Billie Joe was playing for the 18-year-old he used to be. That kid at the forefront of something incredible, making their way to the UK for the first time to play in Wigan, Preston and Brighton." And the UK has always loved Green Day and always will5 points

Agreed about the choruses and different melodies. I have this completely stuck in my head today as I did after hearing the debut on the crappy livestream. Honestly everything Billie writes is so catchy. You can hear the smallest part of something he's written and get it stuck in your head for days!3 points

I agree it sounds a bit weird/nasal especially here. But I think it's just his voice haha3 points

Goodnight Adeline Coma City Father To a Son or Suzie Chapsticks should be the choices for next single or video. So far only TADIKM and Dilemma have really charged so Father To a Son or Goodnight Adeline probably has the most crossover appeal maybe Suzie Chapisticks even. Still wish they were promoting Dilemma more it’s too good of a song not to. It’d be a shame if it stalls on the charts.3 points
-
I would add the subpar lyrics and the whole Joey thing as more reasons why Father To A Son is not the emotional gut punch it should be and why fans haven’t embraced it3 points
-
TADIKM is easily one of the best lead singles they ever had. The song has the perfect topic for a lead single to gain attention and it has many different parts so it stays interesting throughout listening (I mean, an interlude, a bridge, a solo and a third verse?? How many Green Day songs do have all of these four? 😍)2 points

They really played the Misfits?! 🤩. Looking at the setlist and they played Where Eagles Dare. I love the Misfits!2 points

21st century is when Billie peaked melody and lyrics wise but that album feels so dragged and too long. Revrad is soo goood, bang bang is their best single since AI but Saviors is just too comforting and so natural. what are your thoughts about these three albums?2 points
-
What a coincidence, listening to the Longshot version right now!1 point
-
There’s something about the mixing and the vocal delivery in Father to a Son that bothers me. The way Billie says “father to a son” sounds weird, maybe too nasal, I don’t know. But it’s probably my least favorite ballad of theirs, even The Forgotten I would rank higher. My top 3 Saviors songs are Suzie, Goodnight Adeline and Strange Days.1 point

Yeah I really enjoy the music but the lyrics just feel like they're lacking something. They're clearly from the heart but too vague to grab me. "A place you want more than I could give" is good. But overall the lyrics don't feel like they warrant that grand level of music.1 point

As I'm turning 26 tomorrow, it's at the same time around 15th anniversary of me being Green Day fan for life. I decided to look back and write my thoughts about ''me as a green day fan'' and this came out to be long message. Sorry about that. I remember those old teenager magazines hyping up for 21st Century Breakdown and I remember loving Know Your Enemy so much. Once Green Day Rock Band was released, that was how I was introduced to American Idiot tracks and I remember how lonely Billie Joe looked when performing Wake Me Up When September Ends. That track ended up being the first of dozens of songs I'd learn on guitar, a story that I already shared on ''calling all guitar players'' thread. I've said many times how Trilogy is my favorite era from them and how I absolutely adore those albums to death. It helps that I was there to witness it from start to finish and to this date it's still the only time I had a chance to attend to Green Day concert in 2013, since that was the last time they'd visit this country. They were supposed to do so again in 2020, but thanks to COVID, they never did so. Lucky me. Anyways, those secret shows were ridiculous hype and I don't think Green Day can nor will ever reach that kind of hype again. For those who were not there, imagine your favorite band suddenly out from nowhere coming to play 17-18 new songs in a fucking bar after all of those stadium shows. People were posting those shitty quality recordings to YouTube and I remember how Wow! That's Loud was named as 8th Avenue Serenade. It was a fever dream to even imagine them releasing all those songs and there they were announcing not one, not two but three fucking albums in span of 4 months. Let Yourself Go (live from Red 7) was released around the same time and I remember watching it as 14yo teenager thinking ''fuck this man is hot'' and once I saw Billie Joe absolutely shred on that guitar, I was amazed by his skills. I knew he was a good guitar player but I had never seen him play solos on live setting. Needless to say, this was the peak hype from me when it comes to Trilogy albums. Around the time Uno! dropped, I was in hospital. Looking back it was kinda funny how Billie was in rehab and I was in hospital and neither of us didn't quite expect our circumstances to be like this once Uno! was released, but it didn't matter. Once I got my hands on that CD, I knew from the start that Let Yourself Go was gonna be my favorite track. During later years I'd discover my love towards to Kill the DJ and Rusty James, but Let Yourself Go will always be my favorite track from Uno! and that's no shade towards to Nuclear Family and Stay the Night. They're both great tracks aswell, but that kind of emotional connection is harder to achieve. It also doesn't help that Let Yourself Go had the best live performances from this era with MTV VMA 2012 performance still being one of the best performances I've seen to this day. Dos! was leaked on YouTube like week or two before the release date and I joined to many others thinking ''what the fuck was this'' and sure enough, Nightlife quickly rose to top of ''worst green day songs ever'' lists. I used to think so too, but when I turned 18 and discovered what alcohol is, I realized how much damned fun that record is when you've drank few beers and you're playing them on guitar. Nightlife is still not that much fun to play on guitar, but goddamn that track absolutely slaps when listening the album from start to finish. Nowadays it's my absolutely favorite album from them and I'm pretty sure that will never change. Tre! was supposed to be released in January 2013 but it was dropped month earlier in December 2012 due to Green Day being on sudden hiatus. I wasn't that interested with this album due to all the hype dying with Billie being in rehab, but I looked forward to 99 Revolutions at the very least since the snippet I had heard (from some movie credits that I can't recall now) sounded great. Sure enough, song turned out to be good and Dirty Rotten Bastards was great aswell. Otherwise it would take me years to properly re-listen this record again and that's when I started to adore tracks like Brutal Love, 8th Avenue Serenade, Missing You, Sex, Drugs & Violence and Amanda. I still hate The Forgotten and DRB doesn't do much to me nowadays, but it's a great record despite it not being rock and roll banger like first two albums were. Seeing them live in 2013 is the greatest day of my life. I've been married, I've achieved many great things in my life and I've been in crazy parties, but nothing matches the feeling I had when Billie Joe looked me right in the fucking eyes. If you don't know what kind of country Finland is in summer time, it's very bright and it doesn't get dark during nights. Green Day started playing like 9PM and when it was time for Holiday and ''TURN OFF THE LIGHTS'', Billie just mentioned how it's not dark in here. Everyone was just having good time and I got to hear all my favorite tracks live. Murder City, Stop When the Red Lights Flash, She and of course all the classics. They ended the show with Brutal Love which I'm grateful about because I never cared about Good Riddance anyways, but seeing how they completely abandoned 99 % of Trilogy tracks since that tour, I'm a lucky motherfucker. If this was the only time I'd ever see them perform live, I definitely have no regrets. I will never appreciate Revolution Radio. I've always seen it as ridiculous downgrade from Trilogy albums and it's been mixed so poorly that even the decent tracks (Bang Bang, Outlaws) are impossible to listen without my ears starting to bleed. Although this is the album that many fans declare as ''return to form'', I never saw it that way and it just sounded.. too real? Where were the dumb fun tracks? Their live performances from this era never sounded as good as they did on 99 Revolutions Tour and setlists didn't have any Trilogy songs outside of one performance of Amy and Nuclear Family. For me, I just wasn't mature enough for this album. I had just turned 18 and was all about Trilogy tracks. I'd love to re-visit this record once someone has finally mixed it properly, but I doubt I will ever fully appreciate Revolution Radio as what it is. When FOAM era came around, that was my first era on this forum. I always adored Fire, Ready, Aim but to this day I still think ''what the fuck is this'' when it comes to Father of All. I kinda get what they were trying to do with that song, but I just don't understand the lyrics at all. Meet Me on the Roof was much better performance when it comes to those falsettos. Stab You in the Heart and Sugar Youth are definitely the best tracks on the record, but even those songs have ridiculous lyrics. Seriously, ''Mano y mano in the stereo without a cure'' is just nonsense and I love it. I've grown to appreciate Junkies on a High and Take the Money and Crawl, but at the same time I surprisingly don't see Graffitia as a great song anymore. You can blame Billie for that since his awesome acoustic version he produced for Welcome to my panic podcast was 1000x better than FOAM version. Go listen it if you haven't, those acoustic renditions are so good. Between FOAM and Saviors they just decided to release their worst song ever. Legendary Here Comes the Shark. I'm gonna admit, this was the point where I saw Green Day being so out of touch with what their fans want. I of course now know that this track was just for NHL deal they made, but they didn't try with that track at all. Cocaine sniffing, most overused lyrics of all-time and chorus that just sucks. The most AI-generated Green Day song ever. Atleast the music video was refreshing. To this day I don't see anything good with that song. I guess instruments are kinda cool, but then I remember those vocals.. Saviors is their best album since Trilogy and it's not even close. Corvette Summer has became top 10 Green Day track and singles were so fucking good. This is what I'd call return to form. Awesome, high-energy tracks with questionable lyrics all over the place. I love it. This is what Green Day is for me. So much dumb fun. I'll save proper thoughts to album discussion thread, but I just had to mention how much I love this album. After 15 years, I'm convinced that I will be a fan of this band for the rest of my life. I can go back and listen every single record (except RR) from start to finish and that's not something any other band can offer to me. Tomorrow I'm celebrating my birthday by listening all Trilogy albums from start to finish and enjoy few beers. Life is good with this band. Forever.1 point

The more I hear of these, the more I love. Green Day is an easy comparison, because it's poppy guitar rock with a punk underbelly. I believe Dugan mixed this. Anybody catch them?1 point

In case you don't know why I mentioned Studio 666, it's because of the part where the demon possesses Dave like in the movie. This demon. https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/geometry-dash-unofficial/images/3/36/Extreme_Demon.png/revision/latest?cb=201802140829271 point

i want to take it a step further and say again it is their best directed/set album ever, surpassing "American Idiot", "Dookie", "21st Century Breakdown" and all the rest, although i do not say it is better than all post "American Idiot" albums in other means.1 point

I think this is still going to seem surreal for a while but I'm starting to have some coherent thoughts now I've slept. People may already know this from videos but not long after they took the stage, the crowd started chanting "Billie! Billie! Billie fucking Joe!" His reply was "my mom didn't name me that." Everyone but Chris Dugan (at least I think that's who's on the drums?) got their own version of the chant by the end of the night. Including "Courtney! Courtney! Courtney fucking Love!" I've never seen The Coverups in the US but from what I've heard, this crowd went crazier than the American ones. Not saying it was the roughest crowd I've been in (far from it haha), but we all got a bit crushed and very (very) sweaty which was a lot more fun than just having clear air behind us. Of course, no-one goes for it like us Brits do We got to see a totally different side of Billie that I don't think even showed at the Longshot gigs. Aside from a few moments when he struck dramatic poses like the rock star he usually is, he seemed like any other slightly nervous frontman of a random cover band. I started writing this post when I felt awake and now I'm getting tired again. I'll probably think of more stuff later. Or not. What a night tho. I thought the same about Courtney Love but saying it seems blasphemous, so I'm glad I'm not alone At least everyone else seemed to love it though. You are so welcome!!! Couldn't have given the ticket to a better gig buddy I was really surprised that there were Americans and Europeans there who'd been to several/most of the Coverups shows in the US. They know what they're getting though. Actually I think you're right. He'll just have to do a UK Longshot tour to remind himself of the lyrics1 point

A video might correct me but if I was paying attention right he just forgot the words and did the first verse lines again (feeling like a stranger, stranded in the dark) It was a fantastic show! And hearing a Longshot song live was something I never thought I'd get to see, will never forget that 🤘1 point

@The 99th revolution @That Dude @Too Much Too Soon It seems that you have been influenced by the "Bobby Sox" video, since i am the only one not to include kissing between band members, or song characters. i honestly like your ideas more than mine, of course, however as i have said a million times, i have not listened to anyone else rather than Green Day for the past 3 (now 4) months, so their references have no difference to me. "Suzie Chapstick" could be simply a video where all three band members and Jason White scroll their phones for about 2 minutes, then for the rest of the video the plot is: first they turn them off (just like lights in "Tré!") and in the next scene they are walking through a jungle, armed with knives and kill wild animals that attack them. Throughout the video they have the exact same impression: an impression between that indifferent, neutral look Billie Joe has during most of the infamous "Kill The DJ" video and the melancholic one he and Mike Dirnt have on "Macy's Day Parade" music video. At the end of the video they have crossed the jungle, reaching higher ground, and are about to take the pavement to take the liars down in an industrial city, the same scenery the next two videos take place in. Guess star for the following "Strange Days Are Here To Stay" music video is the young boy with the stone who wears a "Saviours"-themed shirt.1 point

The floof was truly amazing last night. Totally agree with @stories and songs Billie was just quietly confident last night, didn’t work the crowd, he was just stunning, looked great, sounded fantastic, smiled a lot, seemed really relaxed and happy. 😍😍1 point

The floof is so strong in the photos from The Coverups gig! I need a scientific study of why Billie is extra sexy to me when he plays Coverups gigs. He’s just so like…quietly confident without being his typical frontman “character” and it’s wildly attractive to me lol.1 point

Forever now IS my favourite Green day song (i'm fan since 1994) and Revolution radio grew on me since FOAM (don't like It) and also last month with saviors. As you said, no skipables songs. My only claim on It IS only 12 songs. I think IS the BEST post american idiot album.1 point
-
Looking at these results, similar to FOAM the top favorite songs were not singles. Maybe SDAHTS and Suzie Chapstick should have been singles?1 point

After a month I'd normally have clear faves but this album just makes me want to play it on repeat. Making the dinner? Stick it on. Doing laundry? Stick it on. Working out? Stick it on. Need some background noise? Stick it on. It's so good. Best I've felt about a green day album since Breakdown and I even enjoyed the trilogy and foam when they came out.1 point
-
Yeah they should've done a few after-release shows promoting the album to lead up to the tour. That's how they did with 21CB: released it, did a couple more shows and a month after the last promo show began touring.1 point

The best song on the album and the only song I've heard since probably AI which on the first attempt made me feel like an excited teenager listening to my favourite band again. Problem is, I absolutely caned it pre-release so it's a skip for me at the moment. 😆1 point

I really like how the first and second verses have entirely different melodies, I feel like that's not too common in this genre1 point

If they do an awesome as fuck sequel called "motherfucking great" with the saviors tour dates in like 2026, my hope in humanity is restored1 point

Amazing how much better this song sounds! I think the ‘so long farewell’ backing vocal really elevates it. Also really like the lyrics.1 point

Strange Days Are Here to Stay and Living In the 20’s are my two favourites from the record. Lyrics and energy on both tunes are phenomenal1 point
