Green Day can also use this as publicity for Saviors. A simple IG post calling attention to the 1 billion feat, and work in bringing all their songs to a billion, including the songs on their new album, Saviors. Boom.6 points

I wonder what Green Day (or Warner) will do with the $3.50 coming their way from 1,000,230,452 streams of Basketcase on Spotify. In all seriousness, a billion streams is a big deal. Starting out as the rickety story of Swank and Houston, Basketcase was rewritten and given the Cavallo treatment to become one of the biggest songs in the world. As a weirdo who likes a good deal of other Green Day records more than Dookie, even I recognize this song's appeal. It's relatable, funny, sad, rockin' - it really is a perfect song and deserves more plays than "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd. Anybody here NOT like Basketcase? I'm all about some hot takes so I won't give you crap about it.5 points

I had a ticket for Tuesday but my health just isn't good enough right now. Gutted but my ticket has gone to a lovely lady we met at BST Hyde Park (and survived the day on the barricade together!) Hope everyone going has a fantastic time 🎶3 points

He just recently posted a IG story with a signed Milwall shirt with Saviors om the back. He has also made posts about them before, so that’s a good clue. Literally couldn’t have picked a worse team 💀3 points

Oh, I have that hardhat one! It's one I've always really liked because his eyes just look stunning in it. I have a higher quality version if you want that for the tumblr. Just gotta sift through my thousands of Billie pics. Haha!3 points

@That Dude is going to invest into a clones machine in order to be able to watch multiple times and for longer gaps "Fancy Sauce", wanting to help that song reach 1 billion views...3 points

Well deserved. There’s just something about Basket Case I can never get bored of it. Every time I hear it it feels like the first time. Always a thrill. The riff, the lyrics, the drums! Perfection. Congrats Green Day, don’t spend it all in one place 😄 💚 Basket Case3 points

They were selling Coverups shirts for project chimps on NYE. They may still be available here: https://donate.projectchimps.org/event/the-coverups-shirts/e5540232 points

He seems to attend football games when he’s in London, but it seems like he chooses grounds around the capital at random. I’d seen he was at The Den (Millwall’s stadium) whilst recording at RAK. He doesn’t seem to be aware of the club’s long reputation of a proud and loud minority of violent right-wing thugs and hooligans in their fanbase. Horrible football club with the worst “support” in the country. Leave that shit in the 70s where it belongs.2 points

That's a true fact if I ever heard one! I have hair that girls pay mad cash to get styled like for prom or something - loose, wavy curls that form those ringlets that bounce back if you pull them down a little. I literally do nothing with my hair (because I'm a lazy fuck ) and it still looks like that every time I get out of the shower and it air dries. I used to not like my hair at all, but now I've grown to appreciate it a lot more. Billie totally has hair that a lot of people would kill for. It's absolutely gorgeous and looks great with his natural curls or when he styles it a little smoother. It always kind of reverts to curly when it gets all wet from his sweat during a concert, though, so even if he styles it smooth we get to see his curls by the end of the night.2 points

Of course not, because secretly the Green Day community is dedicated into pushing "Fancy Sauce", towards billion views.2 points

I think the reputation will be hard to let go, https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/millwall-hooligans-attack-sunderland-fans-29140742 this article about Millwall fans attacking other fans was just this month. (though it is the daily star so take it with a pinch of salt)1 point

I agree a head of hair like that is a lot of work but the plus of still having such a thick head of hair in his line of work at his age must count for something. I like it short - not MDP video short - but he’s had it short and it’s looked great before now.1 point

It's kind of a Network/Green Day situation except yes, it's me. Haha I looked into and it's kind of like booking Green Day for my bonfire. Let's call it "not financially viable" Earlier today, I had an idea about posting a Spotify link everywhere or somehow forcing everyone on the planet to listen to Green Day....but that last one's kind of evil so I won't do it. I'm just so baffled that The Weeknd has a song that's been streamed 4.5 Billion times. He's okay, but 4.5 billion????? He's not even Green Day adjacent. He could be in The Network, but I don't know .1 point

@suffoKate While what i said applies for almost all of the album, unfortunately it does not in the case of "Look Ma, No Brains"; it is abysmal, sadly, and it sounds as if it was created during "Father Of All" with few influences from "Slappy" EP. But other than that, the album surprised me positively on its entirety.1 point

From the very first listen, its melody, its amazing guitar and the composition took my mind away. It is one of the best songs Green Day have ever composed, coming from a person who loved almost all periods of Green Day (bar 1994, 2012 and 2020). i also liked very much the other two, especially the verses in the title track. i agree with you, "Saviours", as far as i am concerned, one of their best albums music-wise and their best in terms of direction.1 point

"Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" and "21 Guns" are higher than "Basket Case" in YouTube and i doubt it will change soon. The ''so-called'' fans should try to rise views/streams on non-"Dookie" and non-"American Idiot" songs. i cannot believe that besides "Stray Heart", only "Amy" has more than 1 million views in YouTube from "Dos!". And since "Father Of All" was actually published during YouTube rise and the virus period, it should have double the views in all of its songs. In fact ignore what i just wrote.1 point

I’ll admit I’m being hypercritical because I think Saviors is a near perfect album for me. Is strange days your favorite off the album?1 point

Amazing album but I’m ready to go to hell for my useless GD opinion today! Wee: My favorite songs from the album are constantly changing, while my 3 least favorite songs have been the same (and no, I don’t skip them when they’re on): bobby Sox- a bit boring and the repetitive falsetto “ooos” feel generic, not fun. The scream is the best part. Now the making of video is Awesome as fuck! dilemma- a bit boring. Scream and lyrics save it. The making of video shreds, though! father to a son - gotta be in the mood, otherwise a bit cheesy. Mix is weird. String arrangements are cool as hell!1 point

My only theory is that they probably made "80" track 8 on Kerplunk on purpose1 point
-
They’ll probably do promotion in the couple of months leading up to the tour and I could see them playing more Dookie/American Idiot songs rather than Saviors songs (unfortunately) on late night shows. Either way, a single like Dilemma doing well on the radio will do more for them than promoting it on late night shows. Those shows aren’t as important as they used to be, obviously, with the internet, social media, streaming, YouTube, etc. allowing for music to reach people in more ways than ever before. SNL would be cool though.1 point

Speaking of Billie this is the cutest thing I have seen all day 😍. The harmony of Mike and Billie is sooo good too! https://youtube.com/shorts/rnB7bBBBqG8?si=bf3QSvKAoOzUWG3c1 point

What I love about this song is how clearly he enunciates every line. It’s almost like a Broadway delivery. I feel like this is him using something he picked up from doing the musical and it fit here. That’s why when I hear the first lines, I imagine it being sung by a character on a theater stage. The guitar riff in the chorus sounds like one in Happiness from The Longshot. There are bits and pieces of everything they’ve ever done on this record. It’s like Mike’s joke of “over 150 years of experience combined”1 point

You like three songs from FOAM, let's work with this only 7 more and you'll be a FOAM-Head. And we really need more foam heads. It seems like Green Day are about to promote a new album when us Foam-Heads just want a video for Teenage Teenager Teenaging, which would have been their biggest song ever. Darn covid.1 point
