  2. Saviors is still #29 in its fourth week in Austrian's album charts đŸ„° didn't expect that it would last that long

  3. Watching the comedy series Loudermilk on Netflix. He plays a former 90’s music journalist who now runs a sober support group and every episode is titled after a song. Season 3 episode 3 is called American Idiot

  4. This isn't an alternative to Green Day doing something. It's just something Billie's doing in his time off while in England instead of watching TV or sitting in a pub lol. Seems like they're having some downtime after the album release/before touring, or any one of them might have other commitments who knows. They can do as much or little promotion as they want, they're not a new struggling band.

  5. I noticed this about a lot of songs on the album! Like Fancy Sauce, every line is crystal clear. Quite a contrast to say Insomniac lol

  6. What I love about this song is how clearly he enunciates every line. It’s almost like a Broadway delivery. I feel like this is him using something he picked up from doing the musical and it fit here. That’s why when I hear the first lines, I imagine it being sung by a character on a theater stage. The guitar riff in the chorus sounds like one in Happiness from The Longshot. There are bits and pieces of everything they’ve ever done on this record. It’s like Mike’s joke of “over 150 years of experience combined”

  7. gonna assume it’s more a case of the rest of the band aren’t here and it’s just a matter of why not

  9. Not seen that last piece of artwork before but like your video! 👏👏 Keep meaning to say, I love the “they promised us forever but we got less” line, clever line.

  10. I actually got all three candles for free from a random fan on Tumblr!! Sadly, they didn't pack it well so Billie broke I spent hours putting it together....and then it fell apart while moving 😠

  11. This is great. The article linked has even more stuff: https://pnn.phmschools.org/news/meet-gods-favorite-directors-ryan-baxley-and-brendan-walter/?doing_wp_cron=1708438342.3968710899353027343750 For the Bobby Sox video: “Billie had suggested he wear his shirt from the now 30-year-old music video “When I Come Around,” but unfortunately, that outfit didn’t make the cut. “ That would have been cool. I wonder if he’s really talking about the striped Longview shirt that we know he still has Also this: “Ryan Baxley will be going on the Saviors tour this summer with Green Day. The band is considering more videos for the ‘Saviors’ era in the future, both Walter and Baxley would love to tackle the track 1981 as a possible next music video although nothing is set and stone.”

  14. I always loved his blond hair. But mix it with his 21stCB clothes and now you have 2009-2010. My all time favourite era. That's why I was a little fucked up when I see him jump on stage at the FEQ with his 21CB hair and AI clothes.

  15. I think the disappointment comes from the initial hope they were doing a string of club shows as promotion. A couple got cancelled from covid, and then promotion ended and nothing more happened. They just released an album and it's like they're on hiatus again. I still hope Green Day will do more warm up shows before the tour, but it's likely that won't happen if Billie just does Coverups shows instead. I get that those are easier to pull together and more low key, and they are fun if you're there, but they've proven they can still do Green Day pop ups and they know how fans feel about another expensive stadium tour. So who wouldn't rather see Green Day than the Coverups?

  16. I thought of alcohol because of the phrase "on the sauce" (meaning drinking a lot of alcohol). Or maybe medication. But apparently it could also be a reference to the movie Step Brothers. Given Billie's history of taking references from crappy movies/tv shows I think there's a good chance of it lol

  17. Interesting that they recorded the song both in London and in California according to the BTS video. I wonder what part they added or had to rerecord đŸ€”

  18. Blood, Sex and Booze. I learned it together with my cousin and we played it in front of our parents. They were quite surprised when they googled the lyrics (I think we were 12 or 13 years old at that time 😅)

  19. Thanks Dude! I just asked the other Connor about this one, this is what he had to say: "Depends on the room, I’d say all offices are computer rooms but not all computer rooms were offices. Like your computer room was definitely NOT an office." & yes we will 100 percent be covering every Green Day song in existence. Come hell or high water.

  20. I edited some of the videos with lyrics that Billie posted on IG Stories a while back into one video because I personally liked what he sharedâ˜ș Wish there was a lyric video for this song... The soundtrack is from the CD. https://va.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_s95ddgW0vL1qzqvi9.mp4 Does anyone know where the last illustration came from? Billie's story didn't have a link to the original.

  21. Absolutely love the Green Dudes podcast, but Connores....I was screaming at the stereo as you guys said "computer room" instead of "office" so many times. 😄 There were other thoughts and comments I had, but since I'm always driving when listening, I never remember the email to reach Green Dudes. Are you guys doing every Green Day song in existence? @Clockwise

  22. @That Dude Here's news for you; I found two faked songs you can add to your spreadsheet: Listen Son and I Had a Dream. They were sent to greenday.net in 1997 when it was crowned Official Fansite by Reprise, but the songs were actually made by a guy who wanted to promote his own band. It's on the greenday.fm site history.

  27. Played guitar along to all of Saviors today and realized it has been out for a month so I guess it was subconsciously in honor of that. Happy 1 month to a great album!

  30. Yeah. Their promotion felt really geared toward people who were already fans and hyped for Saviors. Which we all very much appreciated and clearly enjoyed a lot! It was for us, and I felt it. We got so many great interviews and stuff like the listening parties were so cool. But instead of spending energy on things like the EA Sports party, which was announced as some sort of promo gig but ended up being private/not Saviors-heavy, I would’ve preferred a late night appearance or two. The Jimmy Fallon thing was cute, but didn’t really showcase the new album. Similarly, Billie’s podcast appearances were great, but barely touched on the new album at all, which seems to sorta defeat the purpose. It felt like they were everywhere the first couple weeks in January, which was so special for us as fans, but it didn’t feel like targeted stuff that would make a splash outside of the fandom, other than Dick Clark. SNL and a late night talk show would’ve been ideal, particularly a week or two AFTER the album came out to keep pushing it. There are also a lot of fun YouTube series run by different magazines and stuff that could’ve been cool promotion for the younger crowd (I personally love watching those autocomplete interviews, lie detector tests, etc. — quick fun entertainment). Or imagine them covering a current popular artist on something like BBC One Live Lounge? That would make waves! Promoting it before it’s out only goes so far. I don’t think they should run themselves ragged or anything, but 2-3 more strategically placed performances post-release would’ve helped a lot, I think.

  31. So much lore around Idiot. Billie's wild behavior. Multiple albums recorded. Mike left alone in the studio. Guest vocalist Kathleen Hanna. The Network mysteries. Green Day nearly breaking up. The people that inspired the story, from presidents, politicians to ex girlfriends, parents and stepparents. The media. Hopefully most will be revealed here.

  32. Billie has gone through so many hair colors. Which one do you think he should do next? Should he stick with the blonde? Go back to black? Which hair color generation was your favorite?
    1 point
  33. I liked the blonde from 21cb era more than the saviors pompadour blonde, but the black is just so iconic.

  34. Strange Days - if the entire record sounded the same, I'd want it to sound like this one. Goodnight Adeline - that melody is epic, that emotion is a whopper. There's tears, there's whine and probably piss and puke too, because it's Billie Joe. Fancy Sauce - Favorite line on the record? I'M SO FAMOUS / YOU'RE THE ONE WHO'S FAMOUS / STUPID AND CONTAGIOUS. Billie's screaming and the music swelling, I will always have the memory of the listening party tied to these songs. I got shivers. I was wiping my eyes. I was looking around the room at everybody else. WHOA.

  38. Remember - After Basketcase hits a billion but before American Idiot hits 900,000,000 is when I am allowed to open the Album 15 Speculation. Or earlier if I discover something. But Basketcase is hitting a billion Friday night so probably after that. Saviors is really solid, high replay factor. I have no complaints except the booklet is boring the album cover is meh. Somebody let Green Day know they have overdone the black album covers. Time for blue or silver or green. Next album will also be their last album in the 20s.

  39. I remember when Tre first arrived to me in November 2023 (been a fan since Oct) and I was interested in the sticker that mentioned X-Kid, 8th Ave. Serenade and 99 Revs. 99 Revs, Brutal Love, DRB and maybe even Missing You would've turned out pretty good as singles! 99 Revs and Brutal Love because of their staple status in the trilogy and Soundwave tour sets, DRB because it's a multiparter and would've fit well, and Missing You because it kicks ass and if it was in the 99 Revs tour set it would've kicked more ass.

  40. Yeah, I don't dislike One Eyed Bastard but I got tired of it pretty quickly. It certainly lacks something all the other tracks have.

  42. This was my second Green Day show ever (the first being Lollapalooza 2010) and I think it might have been the best-sounding show of the 6 I’ve been to. I remember being taken aback by how good the drums and backing vocals sounded during this song. Same thing when they played Brutal Love! It was at the beginning of the trilogy tour after Billie’s rehab so I think the energy of this show was very unique when compared to the others. I also remember someone brought a cardboard cutout of Justin Bieber and another fan knocked his head off. The dude who brought it was like “seriously?” Lol

  45. I started an extra cleaning job where I can listen to music on headphones by myself for 2.5 hours a day. I've listened to this album countless times already, still sounds amazing every time! Also just been listening to every Green Day album many times, they really are the best band . This album made me fall head over heels in love with them again lol. Gonna be so awesome to see them live again in the summer.

  47. Well Babylon was supposedly an amazingly wealthy city but was destroyed by God because it was so sinful, the original apocalypse and I think the whole song is doom laden. The guns out of clay could just be that humans will make weapons out of anything. I think this one is really open to quite a lot of interpretation but clearly it’s not going to end well.
