  1. Throw me a Saviors doc while you’re at it, guys!

  2. I really think they had momentum with this album release and should have kept up the promotion, really saturating the media with their faces and performances on late night TV and popular YouTube shows that millions watch, promoting both Saviors and the anniversary tour. One week wasn't enough.

  3. I’d prefer this. The AI era feels like it’s been done to death. I hope they at least find a way to make it some kind of untold story.

  4. I would love to see a documentary about 21CB 🥺 The recording must have been really intense.

  5. In its third week, Saviors is still #11 in the Austrian Album Charts, that's great!

  6. I’d like to hope Green Day were smart and retained the rights to anything he filmed in the studio. Surely a band that band that big would make sure of it

  7. And the “No Trump No KKK No Fascist USA” chant. And the MAGA agenda mention. And… In all seriousness, the NFL has such a problematic history with racism and whatnot that I suspect they’re scared Green Day would call them out at their own event. Which is justified because Billie wouldn’t hesitate to do that lol.

  8. They may have nothing to prove they put a lot of time, effort and money into making great music you would think they would want to maximize their returns on that and get Saviors the recognition it deserves

  9. Saviors is now 184 on the Billboard 200.

  11. I've had Suzie Chapstick stuck in my head all day. It's definitely one of the catchiest in the album and it has simple, but beautiful lyrics. It would make a great single. I'd also love to hear a live acoustic version, the song would feel more emotional.

  12. Per Billie: "We just watched a documentary on American Idiot that we're gonna put out" Do you think there's anything more to the story to be said or shown that HLAHG and BIAB didn't cover?

  13. Green Day are pretty edgey, I guess. We're desensitized, but other people would gasp in horror. I remember a family member being mad at Minority for saying "down with the moral majority" 😄 They might come out and play Grouch, American Eulogy, Kill the DJ and Having a Blast and make everyone's brains explode. And before the cameras can cut away, Tre is leading a live Platypus onto the stage as Billie Joe sings the list of expletitives.

  14. Considering NFL faced major repercussions over the infamous Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction and got super pissed when MIA quickly flashed the middle finger during the Madonna performance, I don't think they'd be happy with Green Day. The artists they get these days are pretty tame and are considered inoffensive (ie. Usher, Bruno Mars, Coldplay etc).

  15. I don't think that Green Day would fit anymore for a Halftime Show. On one hand IIRC they would have to use playback at least for all the instruments and on the other hand I think the political landscape in the US is too polarized for a band with that strong political opinions to perform.

  16. I'd assume at that point they'd already have fancy music industry lawyers to make sure they do, but who knows. Billie and Roecker were good pals at the time so it might have been a more casual deal, who knows. I would love to just sit down and watch however many hundreds of hours of footage from those sessions they have recorded, no editing needed lol. I also get the impression they have a ton of shit filmed from the American Idiot tour that hasn't seen the light of day. So this documentary could be less of a making of story, and more the story of Green Day's second world domination.

  17. When RHCP performed didn't they not play their instruments live? I don't wanna see green day do something that lame. Plus I doubt they'd be chosen after people freaked out about the maga thing after the NYE performance

  18. What a dark horse. I never expected to be replaying this one so much nearly a month later!

  19. Well, now I want to see Billie as referee of the Puppy Bowl. That also makes me think of the segment on Colbert where he has a celebrity help him introduce dogs up for adoption. Green Day would be perfect for this.

  21. Well Babylon was supposedly an amazingly wealthy city but was destroyed by God because it was so sinful, the original apocalypse and I think the whole song is doom laden. The guns out of clay could just be that humans will make weapons out of anything. I think this one is really open to quite a lot of interpretation but clearly it’s not going to end well.

  22. While I'm happy to get any new doc about American Idiot out there, I would much prefer something on Saviors or even 21CB. But hopefully the new AI doc won't feature any weird choregraphed dance scenes that eat up the run time...looking at HLAHG.

  23. Agreed a doc for the album that just got released would be really great. Unless there are actual untold stories from the AI era if there’s actually anything left besides what we’ve already seen. And unreleased stuff from Cuatro would be awesome too.

  24. The documentary will start at a point after the master tapes are stolen probably by Fink.

  25. I'd still like to see the 2+ hours uncut Cuatro video. I assume it isn't out there?

  26. OMG!!! I wonder if there's going to be unseen footage from the C&V sessions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. I personally prefer when he has volume in the front. It looks a little flat here and that changes the look of it a lot.

  28. They’d have to give up the game and out themselves as The Network. Do you think they’re willing to do that? I do wonder what angle they’re taking with this to differentiate it from what we already have. HLAHG focused on the recording process. Is this going to start sometime earlier, like with the C&V material, the side project pivot and the writing of the album? Or the crazy post-success years of 2004-2005? What footage could they have that we haven’t seen?

  29. The husband surprised me with this Dookie cooler and can from Igloo, which I had no idea existed until now. I am amazed at the depth of their merch.

  30. I think we already have C&V tracks in different albums (walk away, letterbomb, homecoming, horseshoes & handgranades, C&V live), some b-sides (shoplifter, favourite son, too mucho to soon, governator, lights out, heart collide), Network and foxboro (Roshambo, Broadway) projects.

  35. This makes me think of the time I went to Oakland right after getting my drunk bunny tattoo. I felt like I was showing my tattoo its home.

  36. Watching Billie struggle to describe the Puppy Bowl took me back to when he tried to explain a gravity bong 😂

  37. I imagine it's an unpayable ransom. Billie talked about how his folks were able to buy a house, car and support their children but that nowadays that's an impossible goal for so many young people and as such you're forever held to ransom by the system or something like that. As such the American Dream is a lie
    3 points
  38. I'm guessing held to ransom by circumstances and possibly even by the politics that prevent any change

  39. IMO, if this was a typical album cycle, where the boys go full swing on touring and promotion, TADIKM and Dilemma could've hit the Hot 100. Rockin' Eve was the most amount of attention they got in a little while, and capitalizing on that could've done wonders for them. I get it though, they have nothing to prove.
    2 points
  40. 100% agree. I'm really shocked they only did the one late night appearance. I thought they'd do more and maybe even perform on Good Morning America, which they usually do during the new album cycle. They did a lot of great interviews, but I think they did more performances for FOAM promotion.

  41. I'm too afraid to drink out of it ... I don't want to ruin it because it's so pretty. But it's big and feels very sturdy. Lid screws off or you can move the "pull tab" to sip. Legit looks like you're drinking out of a tall boy, so I can't wait to have fun with this at the park this summer, haha.

  42. They confirmed Too Much Too Soon in an interview, and Homecoming in the Audacy interview. Dropout (Brutal Love 2nd part but longer according to Cuatro), Sleepyhead and Wasteaway was confirmed by a 2011 interview with Mike. Walk Away, Horseshoes, Shoplifter, Lights Out, Broadway were all on an AI B-sides CD with hypothetical C&V songs. Hearts Collide and Roshambo are guesses, accurate ones in fact. Governator and Favorite Son were written for AI.

  43. Apparently it's located at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland. The tree isn't there but the grave is. Two fans visited and recreated the cover. You can see it in the link below https://www.instagram.com/p/CzeQzzqOvcN/?igsh=MW51dmd5Ynd6M2h0MA==

  44. Yeah it'll start with a scripted comedy scene of Green Day finally catching the guy who got their stolen tapes and beating them up or something. Putting the tape in and the documentary starts

  45. When you're watching The Grumps, and Arin says "This is a Heineken, but it is non-alcoholic. It says 0.0, which means 0 flavor, 0 fun." and you think 'OMG that's what Billie says he drinks!' 😂

  46. I just came here to post about this after seeing that interview lol. Good little chat. Billie threw that in there so casually I had to rewind to make sure I heard him right. I’m really excited for celebrations surrounding American Idiot, it’ll be a fun anniversary to celebrate.
