Who knew the guys were doing this? Wish it was televised but the fan accounts have loads of red carpet photos and videos. This one is emerging as an album favorite. A timeless Green Day track. I’m glad Rob convinced Billie to dig it out and record it.7 points

I'm so happy that they're aware of how much everyone loves Saviors.6 points

Yeah, I agree so, so, SO much with these posts. They are just incredibly genuine, compassionate, smart, talented, hilarious, and good hearted people. I feel like that is extremely uncommon to see in this kind of industry. They fact that they have ALWAYS stayed true to their roots and what they believe in is something rare that is so special about them. Their musical prowess is almost unrivaled and Billie's lyrics hit so hard because they are real, unfiltered, and vulnerable. I can't remember who said it (maybe Michael Mayer?), or what the exact quote is, but someone said in an interview that the way Billie plays and sings, it's like his voice is a direct channel from his heart. He truly loves what he does, loves the people he does it with, and loves the fans. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that he's probably my favorite person in the world.6 points

It was Tom Hanks’ production company Playtone who owned the rights for the American Idiot musical movie…hope they got a chance to catch-up properly 😆5 points

After seeing those Grammy gala photos I’m officially TOO ATTACHED to Billie’s blonde hair and will be in mourning when it leaves us. He looks so so so good.5 points

That’s probably because the first AI singles and album came out Aug./Sept., which is right around the cutoff dates. I see Boulevard was made an official single in Nov. 2004, so I guess it missed the eligibility period for that first year. For the 2025 Grammys, the eligibility period is Sept. 16, 2023 through Aug. 30, 2024, so all singles and the album will be eligible the same year for Saviors!5 points

Well, for myself, I will start by saying, I also started by liking the music in the late 90's and the more I learned about GD over the years the more I liked. Once I realized and learned in the early 90's that Billie lost his father at such an early age, I was totally transformed. I started to interpret and appreciate his lyrics more. I think there were other people in the past in this group that really did objectify the band and especially Billie in a negative way. I like to think our most recent group had a higher admiration of Billie, Mike and Tre than the general audience. Fangirls (guys/people) have been around for a long time. It didn't start with GREEN DAY! Like @Hermione said in the Saviors thread, Billie opened that "fangirl" door with humping the floor, kissing fans, and exclaiming somebody fuck me! Anyway, however you think of him and them, Billie will forever be a fangirl subject because HE LIKES (most of) IT!5 points

I totally agree with everything in the last three posts. I started off liking the music and the more I found out about the band, the more I liked and admired them. Yes, they are human but they are so talented and such good people, they are the complete opposite of sell outs and the fact that they are attractive is a bonus. I think we are in big trouble if we try to convince ourselves that we are wrong to look at people and think they are attractive. Looking at people, judging them and being mean about them is not the same.5 points

These reminded me of the Grammys 2009. God, I can't believe it's been 15 fuckin years since that.. I remember it like it was yesterday, all the excitement of them finally announcing 21st Century Breakdown. For comparison: 2009 20244 points

I realise this is slow to mention but it’s not bleached, he must actually be dying it a kind of honey blonde or something. Looks so good ❤️❤️4 points

We should push to get a deep cut more streams than Basketcase. Can we just all go hard on Fancy Sauce until it's the most streamed song in all of history? Screw whatever "Blinding Lights" is, let the Fancy Sauce cover all lights in darkness as we all die young someday. we all die young and watch it slip away we all die young someday! There are some artists whose deep cuts exceed their singles somehow, and that's really cool. Green Day should join that elite club.4 points

And loyal! Seems rare in the world of celebrities but how admirable that these three guys have been able to work through goodness know how much nonsense and problems and still be there for each other and have each other’s backs. I’m sure there humour helps with that too.4 points

I love Bobby Sox so much. It perfectly describes being in a long term, comfortable relationship and combining that with the playfulness of asking "Do you wanna be my girlfriend?" to someone you've already been with for years.4 points

When you're watching a YouTube channel that has nothing to do with Green Day but randomly mentions them, so you have to go back and watch that part two more times. Because you don't hear Green Day mentioned enough in your daily life.4 points

Thanks for all the details! Hopefully the album and songs get some love at next year’s awards. It’s of course great enough that fans like Saviors but why not add a cherry on top with some awards too!3 points

I would think an album is either eligible a year or the following. So my guess is they are not eligible for the Grammys happening tomorrow (today?) but they will be for next year. It is probably different for songs/singles. It’s possible that the first couple of singles released so far are eligible for this year but just didn’t get any. I remember BOBD winning record of the year, the year after AI won best rock album. So it seems to depend on when the single and when the album are released.3 points

East Jesus Nowhere was also on the band's YT afaik. Here's the alt. Warning MV, it also has a page with Warning old tracklisting: 1. Blood Sex and Booze 2. Fashion Victim 3. Castaway 4. Warning 5. Macy's Day Parade 6. Misery 7. Minority 8. Waiting a Long Time (Waiting) 9. Deadbeat Holiday 10. Hold On 11. Jackass 12. Wasteaway 13. Sleepyhead 14. Clusterhand (Letterbomb) There's also a 15th which could be Church on Sunday, which is the only studio-released song missing. Also considering by how a few of you fellow GDCers have confirmed that Poprocks & Coke made airplay on music TV stations, what if it was actually supposed to be a single worldwide like 86?3 points

So now the album has been out for a bit and I've listened to it to death, this fucking SLAMS. Bobby Sox is awful but everything else is absolutely top tier. Probably a top 3 Green Day album for me, they've absolutely nailed it. Billie is a lot more shouty these days, there's an additional grit and power to his voice throughout the record that's never really been there before.3 points

Even then, Green Day will always be able to slip in Warning or anything else like One of My Lies, Stuart and the Avenue. Billie said in his interview with Vulture that the setlist would feature deeper cuts, with the possibility of likes of Irving Plaza and Fremont songs.2 points

Maybe the inflation has an impact on album sales. FOAM came out a few weeks before lockdown and before people lost their jobs or got less work. Now everything‘s more expensive and people keep a lot money. For example: Football/Soccer is very expensive to watch here in Germany (30€ Bundesliga plus another 40€, maybe 10€ Amazon for Champions League = 70-80€). 4 years ago you could see everything for 30€. Similar for Concerts, food, gas, Streaming Services etc. Plus a lot lost interest in Rock Music2 points

Damn, how I miss the old MTV days where you hear songs like this and really EVERYTHING on MTV. Becoming really nostalgic when I see this alternate Video and miss those days when I was a 10/11 year old kid watching a lot MTV and seeing Green Day, blink, Limp Bizkit, LP and Sum and starting to listen to these bands. Also great to see Warning got a little mini comeback the last shows. Its such an underrated song and hope to hear it during the second EU leg next year. I doubt they‘ll play it next summer when they play Dookie and AI in full plus songs fron Saviors and a few more classics.2 points

I love it too but top 3? It’s simply not better than Dookie, Insomniac, Nimrod, Warning, AI, and Kerplunk. Everything else is debatable imo.2 points

I enforced it when I was a mod . But I think people are fairly restrained there, it's really mostly just saying he looks good and reacting to photos with this: lol. The guy has got on stage and got his dick out, mooned, simulated masturbation and shouted "somebody fuck me!", appeared naked, stripped to a leopard thong, humped the floor, and made out with fans, I don't think a few people saying he looks sexy is a problem.2 points
-
Still one of the best tracks in the album. It's just classic Green Day. I love it.1 point
