  2. Just came in here from the Saviors Album thread, geez! Can it get a little warm in here from time to time? Sure, but on the whole I'd say we're pretty respectful.

  3. In our defence, being a regular on the fangirl thread, if there is any debate about anyone doing anything to anyone, it’s often us forming a posse to fix his eyeliner etc. so it’s pretty jokey. Yes, there is a lot of “how gorgeous is Billie looking” and much discussion about his hair but it’s jokey and pretty respectful. There’s a lot of love on that thread.

  4. @Vintage Disciple It’s interesting, because “I’ll see you later when I get my shit together” is not an uncommon sentiment or phrasing, but it’s such a gut punch for me every time. One of my favorite lines on the whole album.

  5. Not according to the fangirls. I ain't stupid enough to post the uncensored thing on here, also, I came across Green Day Rule 34 trying to find this..

  6. It may have to do with the fact that Adrienne is not in Green Day, which this forum is all about and not about band members' wives.

  8. I try to keep my Green Day fangirling very in check, so pretty much only my closest friends and relatives really see the full rabid fangirl in me. If I had a boyfriend who was always around me it would be different. He'd definitely grow to recognize the gasp... sigh 😔 But hot damn! Billie can show us his arms any time he likes! 🔥

  9. The first part of that BDE comment was lovely: “No tea but recently he’s spoken really eloquently about his alcohol troubles and sobriety, and as someone struggling, the way he speaks about it really resonates, so I wish him the best.” See, this is what I was saying in another thread about how positive people are about Green Day! I know plenty of people don’t like their music or think all their music since X album sucks or whatever, but I largely see comments more like this and it warms my heart. Personally, I’ve never gotten BDE from him, he’s just stupidly likable and charming.

  13. I think we’re quite respectful. The objectification side of it always has a silly lightheartedness to it and IMO it’s mostly just us having cartoon heart eyes and absolutely adoring the hell out of these people. We keep it here bc it would be too sickly sweet to spread all over the forum.

  14. That's so funny. I would never consider Billie having BDE. He just seems like a goofball to me.

  15. Unless they put out a Side B song as a single. I'd like to see them do a video for Fancy Sauce!!!

  16. This song really got me the most. When listened to the record first time. Does remind me of my ex girlfriend in a beautiful way. Specially : "Did we take the time to make amends?" We met again a year after the breakup to talk about it. I hope se did dedicate a song to me. I think about her when listening to whatsername. I forget her, but not the time...

  19. Imagine how cool it would be if they played whole album live and released in HQ

  20. I suspect that’s more “celebrity walking through public area, I’m busy, leave me alone” swagger than anything else.

  21. The hell are you talking about? It's been indicated numerous times on this forum to not post photos of band's wives or their families. Who's objectifying? Calm your tits and enjoy the new record. Jesus Christ 😔

  23. I got my signed CD! 🥹 My friends have gotten signed stuff from their favorite artists and I never thought it was something that would matter to me. But I’ve been so excited to get this and just stared at it for like 15 minutes lol. Very cool and special.

  24. I think it was the Broadway musical that caused them to rush into the trilogy. Billie was creatively charged in 2010-2011 like never before he’d come home from playing St Jimmy and write songs every night. They went right into the next project because he had like 60-70 songs

  26. The album dropped from no. 2 to no. 10 in the German charts. Not too bad, considering both RevRad and FOAM fell out of the top 10 after a week.

  27. He's not wrong tho in the fangirls thread Billie is being literally objectified. People wishing Billie will do thing to them, etc... That's why I'm trying to stay out of this thread.

  28. I already tried to fight that fight 2 or 3 years ago. Resulted in a ban.

  29. My bf is very accustom to it now 😆 except he doesn't understand the terms of fangirling. He'll call me a Fangirl for anything now. I'm like look just because I really like certain bands or YouTubers doesn't mean I'm a Fangirl of it 🙄

  30. Before the release, leak and pre-listening parties, I thought to myself "What if this is only Part 1 of a double album which could be released like Load and ReLoad by Metallica in the 90s?" and boom, now you're dropping this theory haha It would be great. From experience it's unlikely but not impossible. But they could take their time since I'm a little bankrupt as a collector right now with all the vinyl variants.

  36. Three things which could warm you up, preparing for May: ‼️ "Saviours" will not be the only album God's Favourite Band will release in 2024. ❔ There is a big possibility next year Green Day and collaborating bands will also hold a tour which could be similar to this summer's one, although it will not have the same features. ⚠️ A new, currently unreleased song might be officially released before the end of the "Saviours" tour. Keep an eye, or better keep your eyes, One Eyed Beloved.

  38. I don't think it's about LC either. We just got off on a tangent talking about the trilogy and it evolved from there. I agree with @pacejunkie punk as well. Like I said earlier, I even think Adeline could be meant as Adrienne and seems to fit the lyrics. These lyrics kill me like he's given up "I'm like a dead weight I'm going to meet my maker" but then "I'll see you later when I get my shit together". 🥺

  39. So I'm on this subreddit called Fauxmoi. It's literally to have tea on someone. Info, drama, whatever. I drop named Billie Joe this week. The answer so far are funny lol, someone even said they crossed Billie in Brooklyn one day and he have a big dick energy 😅 ''Also. I once walked past him in Brooklyn and good GOD does that guy have BDE. The swagger on the man.'' Here the link.

  41. Billie on Fell for You from Rolling Stone 2020 article: "Let’s just write a gooey bubblegum song about dreams and love and crushes and all the stuff that kind of keeps us alive. Those things never really stop as you get older. You always come across people that you want to spend time with, but you have to be realistic about it. When you’re a kid, it’s OK to be more impulsive. When you grow up, it can cause a lot of wreckage in your life, so it’s best to maybe write a song about it." It was mentioned in another thread that the songs were written during the AI on Broadway era so the lyrics in Fell for You make sense that Billie likely developed strong feelings for someone during that time. "Break a leg and you crush my heart" for example.

  44. If you've ever missed GDA's picture vault, consider following us on Tumblr! Before I even joined the GDA team, I tried to save as much as I could from the vault in case anything ever happened to it. Now I'm queuing all the photos, articles and other bits and bobs I saved or made over the years to be posted on the GDA Tumblr. There's bound to be some stuff I missed in the picture vault (especially from older eras), but then there'll also be stuff that was never in it. Because of the nature of Tumblr – you post everything gradually, not all at once – it will be a while until everything is on there, but there'll be two posts each day. Trying to vary it up so it's not all one era at once. If I remember (unlikely), I'll post some highlights in this thread every week or so. If anyone else sees something they find interesting on there, please feel free to share it in this thread or in the picture threads yourself. Finally, I've added the "search by eras" option to the original post. It's not the picture vault, but hopefully it'll become pretty close in time.

  45. Do we even know if they're in a monogamous relationship? Maybe they're cool with a bit of side action now and then. I mean, Billie has written songs about other girls throughout his career, with at least one appearing to be more recent, post-AI. This suggests he either had a bit of a fling or caught feelings for someone else, but it doesn't look like it messed with his marriage or anything. Aside from possible cheating implications, I don't like digging into their personal stuff, as it's their business. But I can't help but wonder about some songs. Stay the Night, Stray Heart, Suzie Chapstick and others all seem to be telling bits of the same story somehow.

  46. Speaking of promotion, I wonder how much of that affects people’s views of the album. Obviously, the Saviors songs speak for themselves. But I remember the trilogy starting to get promotion the 1-2 weeks leading up to the Uno release, but then Billie had his one minute freak out and went to rehab, many shows were cancelled and the others postponed. I wonder if that kind of left a bad memory in people’s heads and they don’t like the record as much as they could have. I’m trying to remember RevRad promo … I remember one or two singles being dropped, and the club tour was certainly fun, but the promo didn’t seem as large scale maybe? And for whatever reason, I didn’t listen to that album until six months after it came out (literally while I was on a flight to see one of their shows). Semi-the same with the trilogy, I listened to Uno right away, but after the rehab thing I think it took me 3-4 months after Dos and Tre to listen to them. I barely remember Father of All promo. There were “leaks” that were hype… but then they ended up being a fake band that made a better album. 😂 I remember the title track being a single and thinking it was … not good … and I remember having to preorder the album months in advanced and buy the most expensive tickets I ever bought a year in advanced (ended up being two years since the show got postponed). I think the fact that Green Day tickets went from under $100 to $250 really left a sour taste in my mouth. I did listen to the record when it arrived, but I didn’t like it; and then Covid happened so just bad memories all around. I gave the record a second chance a year later and disliked it even more. I barely looked forward to going to the show, but I ended up having a great time and they played no FOAM songs lol. I think a lot of fans would still think it was their worst album regardless, but I wonder if the events surrounding the release made the memory even worse. and then there’s Saviors. We all were trying to hold onto hope after Covid, the world really sucks right now and we could really use a great record from our favorite band. The 1972 hype was real. The “is Green Day awake” site was fun. Then the Vegas show with the tour announcement and single release. I’ll admit I wasn’t TOO excited at this point — hearing a band now charging $300 for concert tickets sing “the American dream is killing me” felt really hypocritical. But I tried to remember that Green Day tends to pick the worst songs on the album as singles for some reason. Look Ma came out and it was a little better… and then when Dilemma dropped, I was HYPED. The OEB release I think was a bad choice; that made me slightly worry again. The listening party thing I think was a great idea. I’ll admit I only went to see if they were giving away tickets to the exclusive Irving Plaza show, not because I cared about hearing the album a week early. But as soon as I heard Bobby Sox, I knew this album was gonna be GOOD. and it was. Almost every song was perfection. And then after that we had promo week in NYC, so living here, that was super exciting. I got to see them play in the subway station and managed to get let into the Irving Plaza show. so yeah, I’m not saying I wouldn’t think Saviors was good if it weren’t for the promo, but I’m wondering if the promo is what’s making me feel PUMPED in capital letters about Green Day for the first time in 15 years. I think they’re just really doing great this time around. But I am kinda worried about it losing momentum with the tour being so far away! 21st CB having an early May drop with a summer tour was better timing IMO. edit: I’ll also add that I’ve seen people on my Facebook feed who haven’t really cared about Green Day since AI listening to Saviors and enjoying it. The fact that they’re bringing casual fans back I think speaks volumes. Not sure how much is promo and how much is just word of mouth of hardcore fans saying how much they love it, but I’m happy to see people listening to them again.
