  1. Spotify update Bobby Sox - 2,808,658 (+195k) 1981 - 1,435,643 (+113k) Goodnight Adeline - 1,344,815 (+99k) Coma City - 1,178,762 (+79k) Corvette Summer - 1,186,150 (+85k) Suzie Chapstick - 1,185,153 (+93k) Strange Days Are Here to Stay - 1,112,111 (+82k) Living in the '20s - 1,072,785 (+83k) Father to a Son - 935,976 (+68k) Saviors - 914,914 (+66k) Fancy Sauce - 879,406 (+70k) At this point, we're starting to see the amount of streams each track is getting per day change. The numbers don't seem to just be based on the track order on the album. For example, Coma City isn't getting as many daily listens as the following 4 tracks now. (Idk why, it's my favourite track). And Fancy Sauce has got more listens today than the previous two tracks

  7. Being a singer isn't for everyone; can you imagine singing in a concert for 2 hours without missing a note? (Imagine doing that every two days on a tour!) I can't even get through a song without burping 😅 I have a preference for his voice around 2009, but I really liked the adjustment in his voice in "Saviors." In recent years, he's been struggling a bit to maintain the same pace, and I appreciate that. For me, what matters is that they're still active and performing at a high level. I hope he ages well and stays healthy to continue bringing us joy.

  8. This album makes me want to get a better stereo set up so I can appreciate it in its full glory. I feel like I could be an audiophile, but I’m just too poor to dive deep into getting better equipment lol. Also had a listening party with just me and my dad because he’s the one that introduced me to Green Day. I still remember being a kid and hearing my dad play the American Idiot CD on his stereo system and thinking that guitar riff of was the coolest thing I’ve ever heard. It’s also kind of a tradition for us to listen to their new albums together. I remember listening to DOS! with him in my old bedroom and just cracking up because of the song Fuck Time lol.

  9. It's hilarious to me that not only did they put hey oh in a song but it's a menacing and threatening hey oh . This is such fun song

  10. Now we know he's had issues with alcohol again in recent years I wonder if that also is a contributing factor. Granted he's been drinking throughout his career but it surely has to have more of an impact at his age. Does he also smoke? I've heard him mention smoking on some recent podcast appearances but not sure what exactly he's smoking. I thought he sounded great during the RevRad tour, very good during Hella Mega (saw them in the UK) and I'm hopeful that now he's sober again he can be on top form for this tour. I've watched bits and pieces from all the promo shows as part of Saviours and there's been points where I don't think he's sounded fantastic, but then again I've had moments of thinking that during previous eras and then when the tour comes around he puts my worries to rest. Maybe he just gets into the rhythem of it on tour

  11. But isn’t that was singles are these days? Songs with music videos? Artists don’t sell physical copies of singles anymore, and no one really downloads individual songs because you can just stream them.

  13. Billie is truly dedicated to his craft. But this album is deserving of that dedication. It's just phenomenal. Best since 21CB!

  15. @Christian's Inferno! thanks for all the numbers update, really enjoy seeing that! Is there a reason why TADIKM, Look Ma and Dilemma are not included? Would be interesting to see those numbers too. Thanks again for these updates.

  16. Wow, if you hadn't told me that was from this era I would have 100% thought it was during AI or something. That's so nice to hear! I've been missing that! 😭 I hope that Billie will continue sing like this more in a way that works for his voice and can be sustained into the future.

  21. I also feel like for promo, it’s largely down to the mix and how you’re hearing it? For example, I agree the XM radio recording for the Saviors songs didn’t sound great (later in the show he sounded good IMO), but then watching videos from people who were there, he sounds totally fine because his vocals aren’t so isolated.

  22. I doubt this song will ever grow on me because I just don't like the sound of it, but that's a shame because I get the sentiment and it's lovely. I don't think it necessarily refers to the scandal. Parenting puts everyone "to the test," but even more so if there are additional challenges (like fame and addiction in Billie's case). The "love scarier than anger" line doesn't have to refer to actually being angry; it's comparing a parent's love to one of the strongest emotions that everyone can understand, even if they never have kids, because we've all experienced frightening anger at some point. I never had the chance to get angry with my kid but I get that line. There's nothing quite like the unconditional love that hits you like a train when you become a parent, and it can be terrifying, especially when you're young.

  24. Guys, Bobby Sox is a single. It really seems silly to bring up Last Ride In's music video as a counter when that's an instrumental track from 1997 and the music video is just a compilation of clips. Singles today are different from how they were even just 10 years. When a song gets a music video release on the same day as the album release and gets way more streams than all the album tracks, I think it's fair to say that's a single Corvette Summer has more streams than Coma City but so far, yeah. Suzie Chapstick also is getting more streams per day than Coma City so that track will surpass Coma City within the next day or two. Idk why though, Coma City is a banger

  25. Yeah honestly it just makes it a bit less poignant when you know it's about dumbass Joey Armstrong . If you were unaware of Billie's family it would work better. I enjoy the music and sentiment though.

  32. This is my favourite song on the album. I used always gravitate towards the faster harder songs so it’s very surprising to me that this is the one I’ve been playing on repeat. There is just something about the vocal melody that is so catchy. Hope they play it live sometime, or a Billie solo acoustic version could be amazing.

  38. The song's lyrics reminded me of something he said in the post rehab Rolling Stone interview in 2013. He talked about how he was afraid that Adrienne was going to leave him over what had happened (and implying that it still could happen if he drinks again). So it stands to reason if that was his fear that when he resumed drinking and was depressed over it that he just resigned himself to it and said "fuck it, she's gonna leave me sooner or later, might as well drink", in a kind of throw your hands up and surrender kind of way when you can't control your addiction. I think "Adeline" is a stand in name for "Adrienne" From The Sun article: “I was sober for several years, and then I had a bit of fear of missing out, so I started drinking again. And I wrote a little of that song dealing with that hangover, and the struggle of once I start, I can’t stop. “I saw my doctor and saw bloodwork come back that said, ‘You’re not as healthy as you should be. Your liver is not being good to you’. “I was like, ‘All right, that’s enough for me’, So I didn’t do any kind of programme, I just stopped. I'm sorry he got to that point but if that was the wake up call he needed I hope it's the one that works for good. That's scary.

  39. I will forever not love the double life that Billie seems to lead. Like, on stage or "in act", he gives off Freddie Mercury esque frontman/demi-god/avant-garde provocateur vibes. at home, he switches to ultra dad mode. Watching that interview is like having a zoom call with your slightly confused californian uncle who just this year discovered tiktok and contactless pay for the first time Dude, the camera angle and glasses... Shit's the funniest thing ever lmao

  40. One week into listening to this record any time I had the chance to and it is only growing on me. To be completely honest I have absolutely no doubt this will stick with me as a classic Green Day release and one of my absolute favorites. I find it impressive for a band of 52 years old musicians to release a 14th record that is so solid, but what I find even more insane is that they are able to release a record that connects so well with such a diverse fanbase over 30 years into their career. I’m 31, listen to this band since I was 12 and still get goosebumps and manage to relate what they write and play. No doubt I am a weirdo with a weird attachment to this band, but this is insane. I still remember listening to an illegally downloaded mp3 of American Idiot on an iPod in the summer of 2005, while I was on vacation with my parents. I downloaded it in a rush right before leaving for a 2 weeks roadtrip cause there was not gonna be MTV available on the road and I couldn’t rely on radios. I only knew the singles playing on MTV at that point. 10 minutes after leaving I put my headphones on and realize that the record file was corrupted and the only songs being played were give me novocaine and homecoming. I clearly remember listening to those songs for two days in a row non-stop. I barely knew English back then and to this day I still have an alternative version of Homecoming with made up lyrics in my head. At the second day of the trip I had to listen to the whole record. As soon as my parents stop for groceries in a mall in Slovakia I sneak in a copy of AI in my mom’s grocery basket. That was the first record I bought (if you call that buying) in my life. Fortunately my mom pretended to not notice. She rightfully didn’t want to buy me a portable CD player as I had a fucking iPod. Also that meant not having me with headphones on the whole time. Needles to say my parents became big GD fans as well as we listened to that CD non-stop for the rest of the trip through the car speakers. Well, Saviors is constantly bringing back that memory, and only because of that I’ll love this record forever. Such a blessing to be a Green Day fan.

  41. Due to inflation, the average American can no longer afford bottle rockets and due to light pollution we don’t see shooting stars, so they adjusted the lyrics accordingly. Hurricanes and airlines, given the state of the climate could continue to be relevant however.

  42. That’s exactly how I’d taken it, I just think it’s interesting the different takes people have. This reviewer sounded like they had actually listened to the album properly, which is more than I can say for some of the others. Thought that CBS interview was really good and that bit really made me think yet again, how hard it must be to write and perform some of these songs, they’re so honest and personal.

  43. I am so behind with these reviews, first three are good ones but why is all the British press giving the album poorer reviews than everyone else? The Independent writer couldn’t even get his facts right! One of the untouched characteristics of the Californian trio that in all these years has made them an enduring band and above all a beloved band is their sense of reality and humanity. As they grow older and wiser, they become sharper, brighter and more essential but in the end they are still the same as they were thirty years ago! That’s a great last para from the first review that’s lost in amongst all the stupid ads!

  44. Still remember being front row in Québec City last july when they played this song. What a journey we had since then.

  45. I can’t believe anyone thought they had nothing to say about this song! Yes, I hear pretty heavy Brit pop influences, dare I say the cream of Brit pop, but my god, again the lyrics, “everyone’s asleep but nobody’s dreaming”, calling all saviours morphing into calling all strangers. And again Billie sounds great, the drums are fab and Mike’s bass is just brilliant. Mike and Tre man, what a combo.
