Spotify update Bobby Sox - 2,808,658 (+195k) 1981 - 1,435,643 (+113k) Goodnight Adeline - 1,344,815 (+99k) Coma City - 1,178,762 (+79k) Corvette Summer - 1,186,150 (+85k) Suzie Chapstick - 1,185,153 (+93k) Strange Days Are Here to Stay - 1,112,111 (+82k) Living in the '20s - 1,072,785 (+83k) Father to a Son - 935,976 (+68k) Saviors - 914,914 (+66k) Fancy Sauce - 879,406 (+70k) At this point, we're starting to see the amount of streams each track is getting per day change. The numbers don't seem to just be based on the track order on the album. For example, Coma City isn't getting as many daily listens as the following 4 tracks now. (Idk why, it's my favourite track). And Fancy Sauce has got more listens today than the previous two tracks8 points

Being a singer isn't for everyone; can you imagine singing in a concert for 2 hours without missing a note? (Imagine doing that every two days on a tour!) I can't even get through a song without burping 😅 I have a preference for his voice around 2009, but I really liked the adjustment in his voice in "Saviors." In recent years, he's been struggling a bit to maintain the same pace, and I appreciate that. For me, what matters is that they're still active and performing at a high level. I hope he ages well and stays healthy to continue bringing us joy.5 points

This album makes me want to get a better stereo set up so I can appreciate it in its full glory. I feel like I could be an audiophile, but I’m just too poor to dive deep into getting better equipment lol. Also had a listening party with just me and my dad because he’s the one that introduced me to Green Day. I still remember being a kid and hearing my dad play the American Idiot CD on his stereo system and thinking that guitar riff of was the coolest thing I’ve ever heard. It’s also kind of a tradition for us to listen to their new albums together. I remember listening to DOS! with him in my old bedroom and just cracking up because of the song Fuck Time lol.4 points

It's hilarious to me that not only did they put hey oh in a song but it's a menacing and threatening hey oh . This is such fun song4 points

Now we know he's had issues with alcohol again in recent years I wonder if that also is a contributing factor. Granted he's been drinking throughout his career but it surely has to have more of an impact at his age. Does he also smoke? I've heard him mention smoking on some recent podcast appearances but not sure what exactly he's smoking. I thought he sounded great during the RevRad tour, very good during Hella Mega (saw them in the UK) and I'm hopeful that now he's sober again he can be on top form for this tour. I've watched bits and pieces from all the promo shows as part of Saviours and there's been points where I don't think he's sounded fantastic, but then again I've had moments of thinking that during previous eras and then when the tour comes around he puts my worries to rest. Maybe he just gets into the rhythem of it on tour4 points

But isn’t that was singles are these days? Songs with music videos? Artists don’t sell physical copies of singles anymore, and no one really downloads individual songs because you can just stream them.4 points

Billie is truly dedicated to his craft. But this album is deserving of that dedication. It's just phenomenal. Best since 21CB!4 points

I just wanted to update all the newly released songs when the album released If you want to see how all the tracks have done this week, look here3 points

@Christian's Inferno! thanks for all the numbers update, really enjoy seeing that! Is there a reason why TADIKM, Look Ma and Dilemma are not included? Would be interesting to see those numbers too. Thanks again for these updates.3 points

Wow, if you hadn't told me that was from this era I would have 100% thought it was during AI or something. That's so nice to hear! I've been missing that! 😭 I hope that Billie will continue sing like this more in a way that works for his voice and can be sustained into the future.3 points

The main criticism I’ve seen is putting Father To A Son after Living in the Twenties. It is a really abrupt change but I still like it2 points

I also feel like for promo, it’s largely down to the mix and how you’re hearing it? For example, I agree the XM radio recording for the Saviors songs didn’t sound great (later in the show he sounded good IMO), but then watching videos from people who were there, he sounds totally fine because his vocals aren’t so isolated.2 points

I doubt this song will ever grow on me because I just don't like the sound of it, but that's a shame because I get the sentiment and it's lovely. I don't think it necessarily refers to the scandal. Parenting puts everyone "to the test," but even more so if there are additional challenges (like fame and addiction in Billie's case). The "love scarier than anger" line doesn't have to refer to actually being angry; it's comparing a parent's love to one of the strongest emotions that everyone can understand, even if they never have kids, because we've all experienced frightening anger at some point. I never had the chance to get angry with my kid but I get that line. There's nothing quite like the unconditional love that hits you like a train when you become a parent, and it can be terrifying, especially when you're young.2 points

Would have been more awkward if you and your dad had an arguement and then that brat song played😂 Happened to me once.2 points

Guys, Bobby Sox is a single. It really seems silly to bring up Last Ride In's music video as a counter when that's an instrumental track from 1997 and the music video is just a compilation of clips. Singles today are different from how they were even just 10 years. When a song gets a music video release on the same day as the album release and gets way more streams than all the album tracks, I think it's fair to say that's a single Corvette Summer has more streams than Coma City but so far, yeah. Suzie Chapstick also is getting more streams per day than Coma City so that track will surpass Coma City within the next day or two. Idk why though, Coma City is a banger2 points

Yeah honestly it just makes it a bit less poignant when you know it's about dumbass Joey Armstrong . If you were unaware of Billie's family it would work better. I enjoy the music and sentiment though.2 points

Wonder if it will last any better/longer than the ones he did for the musical cast2 points

I’m assuming having a music video for the song helps get more plays/views2 points

This is my favourite song on the album. I used always gravitate towards the faster harder songs so it’s very surprising to me that this is the one I’ve been playing on repeat. There is just something about the vocal melody that is so catchy. Hope they play it live sometime, or a Billie solo acoustic version could be amazing.2 points

I love Green Day and music in general. But when I see people bullshitting an artist (a great artist) just because it's not Green Day that's why I answered. Nope2 points

Put fever on Saviors before Corvette Summer, but add the clip of Christopher Walken saying “I got a fever…and the only prescription…is more cowbell” at the end…then BOOM…Corvette Summer delivers the medicine 😎2 points

The song's lyrics reminded me of something he said in the post rehab Rolling Stone interview in 2013. He talked about how he was afraid that Adrienne was going to leave him over what had happened (and implying that it still could happen if he drinks again). So it stands to reason if that was his fear that when he resumed drinking and was depressed over it that he just resigned himself to it and said "fuck it, she's gonna leave me sooner or later, might as well drink", in a kind of throw your hands up and surrender kind of way when you can't control your addiction. I think "Adeline" is a stand in name for "Adrienne" From The Sun article: “I was sober for several years, and then I had a bit of fear of missing out, so I started drinking again. And I wrote a little of that song dealing with that hangover, and the struggle of once I start, I can’t stop. “I saw my doctor and saw bloodwork come back that said, ‘You’re not as healthy as you should be. Your liver is not being good to you’. “I was like, ‘All right, that’s enough for me’, So I didn’t do any kind of programme, I just stopped. I'm sorry he got to that point but if that was the wake up call he needed I hope it's the one that works for good. That's scary.2 points

Exactly. Billie said it was written for FOAM, so of course it would've been transferred to the 1972 EP. IIRC, it was GDFan2019 who made the speculation that Corvette Summer was a FOAM-era song.1 point

Today we were at the skiflying event in Austria and they played a schlager version of Basket Case 😄 I think it's not bad at all 😄1 point

Excuse me, my English sucks quite much. i meant the 4th track from "Saviours", meaning "One Eyed". None other ''leak'' came out the same period besides official snippets, but these three.1 point

I don’t know that I agree with that take particularly when he’s been the one to open the door and let people in to talk about it and has been brutally honest. I think when he sings welcome to my problem, it’s not an invitation he’s saying he’s telling you this is a cautionary tale and he’s not inviting you to join in and party with him, that’s not what it’s about. That it’s a problem not a party invitation. In fact in one of the interview outtakes from the CBS morning show, he was saying how hard it was to see the crowd happily singing “I was sober now I’m drunk again” like it was a positive celebratory thing when he means the opposite. That supports this interpretation.1 point

The riff really gives me 21 Guns feels. I like that it picks up during the hook for a crunchy, heavier sound.1 point
