I just uploaded this. It's the whole song, but not with the best quality, recorded with a phone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1wAJYXBDQo10 points

I can't believe there's people that still compare green day & blink when saviors is miles better in terms of production, songwriting, voice... just father to a son beat all one more time album. And father to a son is not the best of saviors.10 points

They both received almost the exact same reviews score wise which I find interesting. I think GD is up by a single point cause some international entity gave Blink a 40 and the same one gave GD a 60. Talk about a bunch of cheerful critics over there lol So I did the anecdotal test, Im the GD fan my wife is the blink fan. She really disliked the new Blink record. She was happy to see them together again but she just didnt get into it at all. She liked that music video though, I think it was for the song One More Time. Ironically I liked more songs from the album than she did. I showed her a few that I liked and she was like no those songs suck. So yesterday we did Saviors in the car front to back and usually she’ll be loud if she hates it (I heard it about Rev Rad within 3-5 mins). We get through Bobby Sox. Silence. 1981. Silence. She said she didn’t like Goodnight Adeline but did say I can see people liking it cause it’s a well written song. We went through the rest of it. More silence. The odd speaking here or there were a few cracks like “that wasnt bad” or “I liked that one”. If it keeps my wife quiet about me blasting music in the car it’s a good record lol8 points

Not to repeat this tired debate again but it is puzzling that Blink sells more records and gets more streams. They've always been seen as the less serious band of the two. Wonder if Blink is thriving in the MGK era of pop-punk revival (which Travis has been part of). Green Day has always felt like a more serious band and has gone more out of that pop-punk box.7 points

I can't believe how exceptionally beautiful Billie's voice sounds in all of these songs, especially when you're listening with head phones. I don't know if it's only the great production or if he changed something, but I have the feeling that he really pushed himself to a next level here. He's always had a very unique and emotional voice, but on this record, I'm falling in love with it all over again. I can not only hear the anger, pain and confusion in his voice, I can feel it.7 points

At the end of Saviors era, they'll release a live album titled "Green Day: Firing on All Cylinders" (hopefully recorded on South America this time)7 points

It’s impossible to figure out how an album that has been out for *one day* stacks up against a 20-year-old and 15-year-old album, each with their own legacies and memories attached to them. We can compare them somewhat on a technical level, but when we’ve been living with these older albums for so long, it’s hard to be objective. Not to mention we as listeners aren’t the same — I’m not 11 or 16 or 19 or 23 or 26 anymore, and that’s why every Green Day album hits different. They change, I change. But I know Saviors is already among my favorites because of how immediately it resonated with me and reminded me that even though my fandom has evolved many times over, I picked these guys for reasons that have never changed. I listen to Saviors and all the sudden I’m back in my purple childhood bedroom listening to Shenanigans through a boom box, remembering exactly how it felt then to find music that felt like mine. It is nothing short of magic to me that Green Day keeps finding me and, more times than not, manages to meet me where I’m at in life. I’ve stepped away a time or two, and every time they call me back and manage to make me fall in love all over again, it feels like such a triumph.7 points

I really adore this song. It's so beautiful in how melancholic it is, and I also find it relatable — whether it's a romantic relationship, friendship, or familial relationship, I think we've all had situations where we fell out for one reason or another and now that person we love is a stranger, even if we wish we could take back what happened.6 points

I personally love the implied nail painting party they had at some point during the trip.6 points

Since others are doing this, I thought I’d share my thoughts on all of the tracks and rate them now that I’ve had a few days with them! The American Dream is Killing Me (10/10): What a way to open the curtains to this album. Hearing the teaser of this sent me into a tornado of excitement. I kept thinking how the intro riff was 21st Century Breakdown-esque (I became a fan in 2009). The guitars are big and lively and the vocals sound crisp as hell. The drums are also huge-sounding. I think Billie’s voice sounds the best it’s sounded, especially during the pre-chorus. Look Ma, No Brains! (9/10): If any song on this album reminded me of another, it would be this one. But that’s not a bad thing because they made it a whole new thing! I’ve played “Maria” and this one back-to-back just to compare how their sound has evolved and they have a much fuller sound these days! What a banger that managed to get me hyped for the album. Mike’s bass lines really stick out on this song, especially during the bridge. Don’t call it a comeback! This song is super fun to play on guitar, and for that, it gets a boost in my mind. Classic Green Day, and I actually really like the lyrics and think they go really well with the instrumentals. Bobby Sox (7/10): I can’t believe that the comparison to Chester Bennington’s voice was actually accurate! I can totally see the resemblance. I think the best part of this song is the bridge! I can see why they chose it to be a single! The solo is very Weezer and the overall song reminded me of Fidlar, one of my favorite bands! It makes sense since they’ve been having Fidlar’s friends/family help them make their music videos! The lyrics came off as kind of cringe during my first listen, but I think they’re growing on me! One Eyed Bastard (9/10): The first time I heard this song from the leak, I was wondering why they would have ever decided to keep this banger off an album and immediately thought it would make a great single, so I’m happy they’ve made it one! This melody allows Billie Joe to use the greatest traits of his voice, and I enjoy the bada bang chorus! Yeah, the riff reminded me of Pink at first, but it is different enough to not think about it anymore. The outro heavy power chords, reminiscent of Hitchin’ a Ride’s heavy riff-age, are orgasmic. Yeah I said it. Dilemma (10/10): Absolutely the best choice for a single so far. The song is honest, Billie Joe is singing the fuck out of it, the guitars are heavy, what more can I ask for. I love me some chunky Green Day guitar riffs, and this one gives me all the chunk I could ask for. 1981 (10/10): I was all smiles listening to this song through my headphones today. That one part before the chorus where the bass is super audible and reminded me of bass lines in “Stuck With Me” is awesome. Mike’s bass lines are refreshing and full of life throughout this album, but he is definitely on top of his game during this song. The bass during the bridge is awesome. Billie’s vocals sound very American Idiot to me in this particular song, with just the right amount of polish. Thanks Rob Cavallo! Goodnight Adeline (9.5/10): This was an obvious standout for me after my listening party and was stuck in my head. Just wonderful. And Billie’s ability to hit those high notes cleanly during the chorus blew me away, especially during the first listen. And then he goes ahead and says hold my (non-alcoholic) beer and sings even higher after the key change! He’s still got it! The drum rolls after the chorus are an extremely nice touch as well! The best ballad on this album in my opinion. Coma City (7.8/10): The parts of this song that stick out the most are the instrumentals! The heavy guitar riffs in the middle followed by a breakdown that highlights Tre and Mike’s chemistry really pushes this song to a new level. Tre’s drum fills are also kick ass. I kind of wish Tre used more of his toms in his fills at the end because they just sound so awesome, but that’s just me being nit picky. Corvette Summer (10/10): This song was stuck in my head the most leaving my listening party. Talk about a hook that grabs you right away and keeps you rocking until the very end of the song. Definitely one of the most infectious melodies on the album. Also one of the best crunchy guitar riff moments of the entire album when all of the other instruments drop out. Its verses remind me of something Oasis would’ve done. It’s one of several moments where they express that influence! (Even though it’s a 10/10 for me, I must admit, I would’ve been worried for the album if they released this as a first single haha) Suzie Chapstick (7/10): The ba ba dum dum part with electric guitar matching the melody is great and really stuck out to me. It’s really nice to hear another softer Green Day song like this on the album to keep things interesting too. Mike’s bass really shines in this song too! Even though it’s not one of my top songs from this album, it’s a very welcome inclusion. Strange Days are Here to Stay (8/10): That better be blue in the intro! The jangly, crunchy guitar licks in the chorus are so Longshot! Specifically the song Happiness. All those side projects have contributed beautifully to the sound of this album. I saw someone comment on how they think Billie’s “old” deeper way of singing would fit this song better, and I kind of agree, but that doesn’t really take away from the song much at all. I like the Gen-Z killing Baby boomer line! I also love the guitar playing during the “fentanyl” line. It matches beautifully. Living in the 20’s (8/10): At first, the song this reminded me of was Sugar Youth for some reason. I can see why people on here are saying it reminds them of Horseshoes and Handgrenades (one of my top Green Day songs of all-time) The Foxboro-esque solo is always welcome on a Green Day song! Aggressive Green Day songs are always great and the awesome screaming Billie does at the end is the cherry on top. Tre’s drum fills at the end are also top-notch. Father to a Son (9/10): This song should be a single for sure! When’s the last time they had a single this soft? People need to hear this side of Green Day more! It has huge potential and gets the one of the biggest emotional responses from me during this trip of an album. The horns that come in are also so sweet! It reminds me of Brutal Love’s orchestral traits. Tre hitting the toms, building up to the song’s outro is a great moment. Overall this song has a wonderful build up throughout its entirety and the last chords remind me of the end of the end of “The End” on Abbey Road. Grandiose-sounding! Saviors (9/10): Billie sounds awesome using the megaphone effect and and the heavy guitar chords that come in like a call-and-response with the vocal line is so satisfying. The guitar tones for the solo are great! Fancy Sauce (10/10): Ending on an extremely high note. This song was one of 3 that were stuck in my head after my listening party. The melody and the harmonies that happen halfway through the chorus instantly brought a huge smile to my face. A song like this is exactly what I want from Green Day. It’s so melancholic. The production and melody makes me think that this would fit well on 21st Century Breakdown. Love the guitar lick between the “we all die young some day” lines. It’s more call-and-response between the vocals and guitar, which is something I really liked on the song “Saviors”. The instrumental outro is perfect to end this album. Wow what a closer! It contains the Green Day “fancy sauce” indeed, as does this whole album. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this album and can’t wait to listen to it more! It’s so great to be a fan of this band right now!6 points

It seems 40-60k is Green Day’s record buying audience regardless of the quality of the release. But FOAM tanked after week one, who are the people that will buy a GD album regardless. Saviors should hopefully do better once reviews and word is out that it’s a great album and then maybe they will continue to have sales past week one.6 points

I think my current fave is Goodnight Adeline, I love Billie's voice and the melancholy in it. On first listen, my favorite (besides the singles) was Strange Days Are Here to Stay, and one I could probably do without was Corvette Summer (the only one that made me want to skip ahead to get to the other tracks). But I've listened a few times now and I'm loving the album more and more as a whole... It just feels very comforting to listen to - I was trying to find another fitting adjective but I think comforting is it. It's 100% Green Day doing what they do best, as others have already said, somehow it really feels like a fusion of all their other stuff. I can't wait to hear some of these songs live. What a time to be a Green Day fan5 points

Isn’t it a bit early to predict first week sales? The album came out just two days ago. It might end up selling a little more than 40-50k. But I guess rock music is just dead, especially in the US. Doesn’t really matter though. Green Day are past the point where they have to prove anything commercially. The album seems to unite the fan base, which is much more important.5 points

I was on one of Green Day's youtube community posts and saw a bunch of angry MAGA dipshits. Really, the attention Elon gave them is only going to be a good thing for them lol. MAGA dipshits driving up engagement on their channel and normal non-dipshits who saw Elon's post probably like Green Day more after seeing them shit on MAGA and Elon getting butthurt about it. Not sure how much of that would translate to people listening to Saviors but any engagement is good5 points

Green Day interview (05:52) Or parts of it, at least. I wish more interviewers brought stuff like this up. I get the sense that Billie would give more straight forward answers than some might think, if someone actually asked. do you think we'll get to hear the Cigarettes & Valentines remnants in question when American Idiot 20th Anniversary Edition comes out? 😉4 points

That's a cute idea! We all should have our nails painted black and pink for our shows during the tour4 points

Not only is "Saviors" number one on iTunes, it's also currently number one (in CDS & vinyl) on Amazon. I think it'll do well (for a rock record circa the 20s... which we're living in, baby!) and I think it'll sell more than 40-50k. How much more is anyone's guess but I do feel like 40-50k is lowballing it. It very well could sell around that much, there's no way of knowing for sure until a few days from now... but I'm under the impression it's doing better than that. Positive fan response, positive critical response, good marketing... the guys'll be fine.4 points

I think they are toning the story down a bit now because anytime they’ve been asked more recently like here they’ve just kind of said it inexplicably “went missing”. Like whoops where did it go? I didn’t see anything. Did you? 😄4 points

I don’t know that I agree with that take particularly when he’s been the one to open the door and let people in to talk about it and has been brutally honest. I think when he sings welcome to my problem, it’s not an invitation he’s saying he’s telling you this is a cautionary tale and he’s not inviting you to join in and party with him, that’s not what it’s about. That it’s a problem not a party invitation. In fact in one of the interview outtakes from the CBS morning show, he was saying how hard it was to see the crowd happily singing “I was sober now I’m drunk again” like it was a positive celebratory thing when he means the opposite. That supports this interpretation.4 points

Im sure it will be a consistent record for them but what they really care about is monthly listeners and GD’s monthly listeners count has apparently increased alot since the maga and musk sagas. Elon Musk was played like a billboard and he deserves it for his discriminatory business practices against people with disabilities.4 points
