I recorded the listening party on voice memos as I’m sure a lot of people will over the next day or so. Here’s my review. The American Dream Is Killing me is in no way representative of the complete album. You can really tell that this was the last song recorded. Bobby Sox is a big highlight for me. If you’re a fan of Fidlar or Weezer you’ll really like this one. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if this is the next single. Heavy and really beautiful melody. I really like it. 1981 rules. Definitely sounds like it could be from Cigarettes and Valentines or Nimrod. Classic Green Day sound right here. Goodnight Adeline starts slow and builds into another heavy track with sweet and soft lyrics as expected. Coma City starts with a riff in a similiar vein to 99 Revolutions or a Blink 182 riff. Great fucking ending with the band jamming out and Tre going ham. Another highlight for me. The breakdown from this is one of the very early teaser snippets that was released way back when. I’ll post the Instagram video to this later. Corvette City is a just a straight up fun song. Probably won’t ever get played live but it’s a lot of fun. Mid tempo rock and roll with cowbell! Has a slight country twang to the chorus! Certainly won’t be a single but it’s fun. Susie Chapstick has a melancholy feel to it. “Not even the drugs seem to work” “Do you just want me to go away?”. Gives off Nimrod/Warning vibes but also in a league of its own. Strange Days are Here to Stay is a classic Green Day sounding song. Trilogy vibes with a much better production. Love the palm muting and melody on this one. Living in the 20’s is a fucking ripping tune. Imagine Horsehoes and Handgrenades and Walking Contradiction had a baby. Don’t understand the initial negative reviews for this one? It rules. Father to a Son is a beautiful track. Can see this one getting played towards the end of their upcoming sets. Beautiful melodies and strings. Tears inbound. Saviors features Billie singing through a telephone esq filter for the verses and transitions in a big chorus “Calling all Saviors!” It’s good but nothing special to me at the moment. Maybe it’ll grow on me. Fancy Sauce is the soft acoustic riff we saw Billie playing on the Instagram teasers ages ago. Been looking forward to hearing this song for what seems like forever. Transitions in a bigger sounding song for the chorus. “We all die young someday”. Some funny and wacky lyrics on this one as well. “Watch the evening news cos it’s my favourite cartoon” “Going to join a cult, do a somersault”. It’s a slower finisher but still big and loud. Anyways those are my initial thoughts!! Go out there and enjoy the listening parties everybody!26 points

With all of this new songs going around I just wanna say that if you don't like them, you don't like green day in general. These songs are the image of what green day is in the current days, and show all they've learned on his plus 30 years of career. Saviors is a loveletter for those who enjoy his music in all levels.8 points

Just back from my listening party and I loved the album. It’s almost 3 hours since it’s finished and it seemed to go by so quickly so I’m now struggling to sort all my thoughts but my reaction to each song was oh, Coma City, this is great and it kept on going. In no order, I loved Susie Chapstick, Saviors felt quite Beatly but the guitars were often heavy, emotional lyrics (Father to a son❤️) and I loved Billie’s vocals throughout. Quite a lot of talking among crowd 😡 so still feel Friday will be exciting but everyone there seemed pretty positive. Fancy Sauce was great, just remembered it! Billie had nice wee message at beginning saying thank for coming, it took a long time but they think it’s one of their best.7 points

Got back from my listening party aside from swag they had signed cd’s to order at least mine did with pickup the 19th….Bobby Sox was great it was packed everyone loved that and said that should have been a lead single. 1981 sounds straight out of mid 90’s Green Day and another fan favorite…father to a son came on and everyone said shhhh and quite…that got the most reaction out of my party and some people were teary eyed that was the consensus favorite. Coma City Corvettte Summer Suszie Chapsticks people were singing along too. Side B is better songs have influences from the cure to the cars to the replacements…many have sounds that would fit on insomniac/nimrod/warning…production wise best since AI/21st Century Breakdown…Billies voice and harmonies best since 2009…hard guitars that blend Insomniac style with horse shoes and hand grenade aggression very heavy and buzz saw mixed with Beatles/The Kinks harmonies…fancy sauce has a great instrumental and tres drum fills are sick Mikes baselines are great in Coma City and Living in the 20’s…both very dark/bleak lyrics but very relevant…saviors the song was hard to hear because of the vocal mix sounding like Billie is singing through a megaphone. Guitars on the second have sound like static age like riffs…they made a record that is a blend off all their previous albums with a pinch of new sounds as well…very mature yet head banging super sad topics that make you marvel at the lyrics…as a fan since 97 being a kid and my mom bought me nimrod and as someone who’s favorite album is either Insomniac/21st Century Breakdown…I loved it..Bobby Sox and Father to a Son got the most pop and response from the crowd and should be singles. Strongest effort since 09 I’d put it top 3-4 of all their albums…although I just got out…my gallery of sound said the turnout was the biggest they have had in forever and everyone pre-ordered signed cd’s and with talking to the crowd ordered multiple copies prior the crowds age were kids to people in their 60’s..families, couples, singles it was a special moment everyone loved it hype seems real…Green Day IMO made another great album…Bobby Sox and Father To a Son need to be singles…very impressive and I feel fans of all eras will love this album6 points

At our listening event they played the album in the background in repeat and when we came in they just played Bobby Sox and I totally didn't get that it was Billie's voice, so I asked where the pre-listening would take place 😂 and right in the middle of my question One Eyed Bastard started and everything was clear 😅5 points

So we just came home from the pre-listening session and overall it's a really good album, Green Day is fucking BACK ❤️ maybe the lyrics aren't as compact anymore since FOAM as they used to be in AI or 21stCB (by example, when Billie sings "Do you want to be girl/boyfriend?" many times in repeat in Bobby Sox he would have probably written different and variing lines a few years ago), but the instrumentals and the arrangement to me improved over the years and definitely got more complex and with more details. The production sounds huge with a good PA. I think I don't have a favourite song, need another listen, but as others already wrote, Strange Days are Here to Stay, Bobby Sox and also Fancy Sauce are really cool EDIT: oh I just noticed that I mean Living in the '20s instead of Strange Days are Here to Stay 😂 but nevertheless, all songs have some great elements!5 points

Dude are you here? I’m in a black shirt with a pick necklace Album is sick so far. Instrumentally heavier than their older stuff I’ll listen to it a few more times tonight and give full thoughts later5 points

It's literally the same song. Father To A Son is Regretfully Yours. I think Stab You In the Heart was similar to a song from These Papers Bullets too.4 points

I really need fancy sauce in my life wow I've had that acoustic guitar riff in my head since late December of 2021 to actually hear billies voice come in singing the first line wow I mean it's just a snippet but I can't see how that one doesn't live up to expectations now we just need to hear father to a son see if it lives up to the hype my guess? I couldn’t make it to any listening parties LOL looking forward to next Friday!!!4 points

This is a bummer. It seems like they are moving everything away from the East Bay. Jingletown is gone, Mike sold Rudy’s, Billie sold Broken Guitars and now this. 🙃4 points
