  2. I think they Hey-Ohs and Bada Bings are gonna be great live. I feel like those were the lines written for us to song along to and that’ll be really fun

  5. I don’t get all the hate for this video, would you have preferred a static image or a loop like the Holy Toledo one? It’s not a music video, it’s a visualizer to accompany the song release on YouTube.

  6. I believe it was in August of 2020 that Michael Imperioli (Christopher in The Sopranos) revealed that James Gandolfini (who played Tony Soprano) was a huge Green Day fan and would listen to Dookie in his trailer, even naming his dog Dookie and using it in his email address. Depending on when this song was written, I wonder if this revelation inspired the song in some part. Billie mentioned this in the new Armchair Podcast episode so it must have been something that stuck with him/the band.

  7. Just got a Spotify notification to pre-save the album and it has the tracklist showing and a countdown. It’s getting close!

  10. I’m glad they released a song we already knew because I’d like to save SOME of this record for release day lol

  11. Less than 2 weeks/2 weeks away from the album, wow we've come so far since the 1972 speculation thread 😂

  12. I’ve already listened to One Eyed Bastard more times than I’ve ever listened to So what in my life, so I say so what? OEB IS A BANGER! BADDA BING BADDA BING BADDA BOOOOOM

  13. No knowledge except for the fact that I have seen the Godfather 1000 times and it’s almost like he is writing while watching. 😂 I’ll make you an offer you can’t refuse. Get on your knees while you kiss my ring. The movie came out in 1972 which was supposed to be the name of the album. Just seems obvious to me.

  15. Greatly enjoyed this while driving last night. The magic leaves story gave me a good chuckle. I too wish it was the full 2 hours. I love listening to Billie tell stories and remanence about their beginnings. I'll be listening to this again because I'm sure I missed something.

  16. This sounds like a @That Dude song if I've ever heard one! Can totally picture him at a dive bar at closing time chanting at the top of his lungs "REVENGE IS SWEETER THAN WINE!!!!!" before the bartender swiftly escorts him out

  20. I also really liked the segment that he talked about his mom. She has lived through so much historical moments. And to be 91 and still going for a walk everyday and still have that self independence, it's amazing.

  21. That was a really cool reveal. There’s no budget for music videos anymore and they didn’t have to bother but they financed it themselves. He’s like, what else am I gonna spend my money on?

  22. The worst one out of all the singles but still a fun song.

  24. Yeah I love sitting on my couch and listen to the whole record on headphones. So maybe thats something they could change in the future. Something like a sign up for a prelistening party, where everyone gets a headphone (or bring your own) and a booklet/lyrics and listen on your own. After that you can talk with other fans and their opinions about it. That would be nice

  25. I'm just gonna sit and be like fuck my life has changed so much since the last green day album

  26. I'm going mainly for the goodies lol. Gimme that Saviors swag! I don't expect hearing the album will give me an idea of what it's like but it'll be fun to hang out with other fans. There aren't a lot of in person listening parties these days so why not?

  27. When I think about my nephew who’s ten, it really does remind me how young that is. To know someone that long, grow up with them like Mike and Billie did, it’s amazing.

  28. Great interview! I normally can't stand Dax, but gotta say he was a great interviewer who knew his shit and remained engaging throughout. Love to hear Billie being honest about his substance issues and that he's currently sober and doing well 🤗 Really fun interview! It feels like we've got the full version of Green Day stories and factoids we've heard before. Billie seemed relaxed and like he enjoyed himself. Just wish it was actually 2 hours and not Dax and Mina (?) in the last 40 minutes or so. I don't want to hear them without Billie 🤣

  29. Definitely a catchy song and I really enjoy the bridge/outro. However, I still think it’s easily the weakest of the four songs we heard so far, especially lyrically. But that’s fine, as I’m pretty sure that there are better songs on the album. I don’t think the song is single-worthy but I guess they just released it to create some more hype before January 19. It doesn’t even have a proper music video which makes it feel less like a real single. But like I said, it’s still fun to listen to.

  30. In the Armchair Expert Instagram post, lots of comments about how he still looks so young, was people’s high school crush, and is still so cute lol. But my favorite one is, “For whatever reason I just assumed I wouldn’t like him. But he’s just so damn likable.” If anyone feels like looking at a comment section that isn’t unhinged, this is a really nice one.

  31. Love the official mixing of the song! The guitar is a bit Holiday esque at times, love that. And the bass sounds amazing 🤩

  32. We now know 5 new songs (1981 not being a studio version yet) and we have 10 more to come. We have more than a FOAMF full lenght album to hear, its so good. lol 15 songs FTW!

  34. I have purposefully avoided looking at opinions on this song and I had no idea what to expect. Oh my god, might be my favorite so far? Out of what you expect for their sound but it’s incredible and so heavy!

  37. I just remembered his story about how he and Mike played with leaves when they were little that they thought were magical. So cute. I know they’ve been friends forever, but that put into perspective just how little they were and how special that bond must be.

  38. Yes he does it alot less now than he use to it might of been a nervous tick. And so Glad he's sober and doing well

  39. I'm only a half hour or so in, and I am honestly STUNNED at the lack of "yknows." He sounded really comfortable and not bored. It was nice to hear.

  40. @Karol Oliveira I totally agree. We’ve heard pieces of how Billie and Adrienne first got together before, but this was the most complete version I’ve ever heard of when they first met up through being newly married. She seems like a really awesome (and clearly very patient and loyal) person, and it’s sweet how he still talks about her so adoringly. The fact that Billie has such a strong marriage, friendships, relationship to his kids, etc. is really admirable to me, because to me it just shows he’s got his priorities straight despite his struggles and busy lifestyle.

  41. For anybody confused, this song is a tribute to the 1972 film ‘The Godfather.’

  42. The album version mix is much better! I appreciate the bass being louder, the drum mix different, and the background vocals/harmonies in the final chorus.

  43. To be honest I still don’t really get the comparison to So What. Sure, the riff goes down the scale in a similar way but the guitar notes are different. I’d never have picked up on anything if people hadn’t mentioned it. And I was a huge fan of that song when it came out!

  44. Love the Mickey! that was funny to see

  45. I can't say I'm a huge fan, the first 3 singles blew me away this one is just mediocre in comparison. I'm sure it'll fit into the album fine, just don't think much of it as a single

  46. my opinion: THEY SNUCK IN STEAMBOAT WILLIE LMAOOOO also I really love it! but I love songs that are super catchy like that.

  47. I also tend to think that the Gandolfini listening to Dookie is what inspired them. Then you just add some other mafia references in the lyrics.

  48. Great podcast although the length of the episode deceived me into thinking it'd be 2 hours of Billie talking. I love when Billie talks about Adrienne and he was super sweet on this. Also, it makes me reflect on how hard this relationship must have been for her at times since the beginning. I imagine her parents questioning her something like "you've been in California for three weeks and now you say that you're gonna marry this guy that's dropped out high school and it's in a band?". And then there's a kid, she goes into mother mode, stops drinking, Billie's away on tour; when he's home, he goes out and gets drunk. And there's 2012 and rehab where Billie said he once drank so much he slept in a park in NYC. I mean, with little that I know of this relationship, I imagine it would be tough keep on going. But I know even less the good reasons that makes them to be together 30 years later and Billie talking so sweetly about her and still writing songs about her are a few indications there's a really good foundation in their marriage. Of course, this is all speculation on my part after listening to this interview. Wish he talked more about stories behind some other songs though.
