I finally heard this on the radio yesterday. I don't listen to it often, so that's not saying much. However, the station is also playing "Dilemma", so it was neat to hear it! New Green Day on the radio always brings up a special feeling.8 points

I’m really looking forward to this album. The three released songs have all been really good and I don’t get tired listening to them. RevRad had this same pre-release feeling but fell off pretty hard for the most part. Can’t wait!3 points
-
They did. Since they already announced Dilemma, my guess is two from Dookie, two from AI and Dilemma and that’s the five2 points

My 3 year old keeps asking me to watch the zombie video... and when I play the song on my guitar he identifies it instantly. My dad's favourite band ever is madness and I took him to see them for his birthday one year. Would be cool if I got the chance to see green day with my boy when he's older2 points

Anyone have chart updates this week? I’ve been literally streaming the song at night when I sleep. Created a little Saviors playlist. Essentially just the 3 singles over and over again. Lol.2 points

Did anybody get Saviors for Christmas? I got two records for Christmas and I had a moment of "PLEASE BE SAVIORS" as I opened them both, haha. Dookie and Hackney Diamonds by the Rolling Stones. Very cool. My dad and I bought each other Hackney Diamonds - he got the CD and I got the vinyl. Back in the 80s it would have been the other way around, lol.2 points

I truly love all three, but Dilemma is just something special. It really stands out in sound for me (I lovvvvve heavier Green Day) and in terms of lyrical content, it honestly kinda floors me that this song even exists. It’s so raw and emotional in how it gives a brutally honest look at what addiction feels like. (That said, I think it’s among their best songs since AI, not the best because I’m a huge fan of 21CB and RevRad).2 points

https://www.instagram.com/p/C1U9HEfJRoS/?igsh=ZDhuN2F4azVqbTBr 3 separate performances celebrating Dookie, American Idiot, and Saviors!!! I wonder if this means they’ll debut any of the new songs like Father to a Son in the Saviors set1 point

Yes I did. amazing album. I cried when I listened to "Father to a son"1 point

The music industry has never protected musicians with regards to substances, they’ve provided and encouraged it as part of the lifestyle and to endure the demands of touring etc. But I don’t know if I would call the Post Malone thing promotion, you have to give Billie some responsibility for his choices there. There’s no evidence he was “used” in any way. Personally I put greater responsibility on management and label for the use of cocaine imagery in their advertising.1 point

Remember when we thought that they bring out an album in February 2022. Now we're here and it looks like it was worth the wait 😌1 point

Enough bashing of Taylor Swift, this isn't the forum for that. Back to Saviors, I am feeling myself getting more and more antsy for this album. Based on everything I've heard, so far my most anticipated songs are Father to a Son and Coma City. I am so used to this quick release of songs in the last few months, I can't handle waiting a few more weeks where we probably won't get anything new from the album1 point

I was 9 when I got into Green Day and they've been my favorite band since 1996 and I'm sure a lot of people on here got into GD when they were young. You're acting like Green Day is some hardcore band but they're still pretty poppy even though they have some faster songs and heavy guitars. Also, there's plenty adults who love Taylor Swift, and they have every right to, why do you care so much? Also, I'm sure on albums like American Idiot and 21st Century, and maybe even Saviors it seems like the producers are guiding the band through the writing process. The producers aren't co-writers, but they have input on how the songs come out1 point

As a fan originating from the AI era, I can only now appreciate how little time there was between Dookie and AI. 10 years ago the boys were finishing up the trilogy tour… which doesn’t seem like that long ago to me? Crazy to think that’s the same time difference between Dookie and AI. 😱 And not to beat a dead horse, but I also can’t believe AI is going to be 20 years old. I remember when I was a “new” fan or a “bandwagoner” as MANY on this forum used to point out 😂 I feel old as fuck now.1 point

It’s weird how rock releases just happen in a vacuum now. Green Day is absolutely one of the more commercially successful rock bands at the moment (along with people like Blink, Foo Fighters, etc.), but it’s like the wider media completely ignores this genre. The Grammys don’t even air rock categories on TV anymore. It’s been years and years since a rock band played the Super Bowl. It’s just strange when I compare it to the period when I first got into Green Day and rock was absolutely everywhere. I wonder how long it’ll be until culture swings back around to that.1 point

2024 album schedule is starting to fill up. I'm sure some mega star or bigger band will release something, but right now they look like they'll rule the earlier part of the year. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_2024_albums1 point

Theres definitely different fan segments. I see the following: Early Years fans: Anyone who saw them supporting Kerplunk and earlier fall into this group. Most likely to ride the Kerplunk-Insomniac wave and then dropped off from there. Dookie fans: Rode the wave from Dookie-Nimrod or Dookie-Warning. A large portion dropped off between Warning-AI. AI fans: I fall into this category. Some of us heard Green Day but were too young at the time to understand the significance until AI dropped. We were inclined to go into the back catalog and learn all the classics but at the same time fell in love with the band at a turning point and were open minded to the albums to follow. The trilogy was a drop off point for some of these fans? The other major drop off was foam. Post AI fans: You were spoon fed by the rest of us above but you have good taste. The upcoming album has been marked as one of the most anticipated rock albums for 2024. So hype is there but as you said the rock world is silenced when it comes to the masses. However, Spotify actually shows a larger market for heavy music than pop music. It’s not going to be overblown like Dookie or AI but it will be a well respected album in the genre. So if someone seeks this music it will be easy to find.1 point

I hate when most of the fans are enjoying something and someone appears saying "this is overrated". let people enjoy what they like and shut up1 point

I think if people are pumped about the singles (like me!), they have every right to be excited about the album and thus it is appropriately “rated” at this time. There’s great energy around this promo cycle, it’s been fun to see the guys out and about, and the singles are incredibly strong. I fully expect this album to be a high-ranked GD album for me based on all the information we have about it. I love the concept of bridging the gap between their most popular albums by releasing a collection of songs that reflect their different sounds from over the years, and I believe it’ll really be that type of album because the singles have been diverse while remaining distinctly Green Day.1 point

I gotta co-sign this great post but I think GD might be the only band that has different “genres” of fans. Like the hardcore punks may like all of it or maybe just the Dookies and Kerplunks and some random others and would probably be the old schoolers listening to Gilman on a cassette. When you’re one that’s been watching since the van tour (raises hand) you’re probably not reppin Internet forums because we’re old fucks. I just enjoy it myself. Then there is the 2004 which feels soooo long ago but was only 10 years after dookie and like 19 years ago. They like the more medolic stuff which I’m also one of. It’s funny when you said “get stoked in GD in Years” getting excited and I was like yeah they are. Then I realized that’s me. Lol But still to this day the best times I ever had at concerts was the entirety of The Longshot minus 1 show and it was the most fun I’ve had on a leg. Im almost exactly Billies age so I keep saying if that old fuck can do it, I can too. But he’s making more than me. Haha. But it’s come to my attention that GD had a segregated (by musical taste) fan base. Not race to be clear. Also, singles are a promotion. They “release” them formulary to the radio first, then go buy the single, if you have a couple good singles, all the better, B side to see how well unsure songs track and then release album. Or when you know people will buy in blinks “buying aka clicking” because the clicks are how the measure. Taylor Swift releases her whole album at once so she can occupy every spot in the billboard at once, which nobody has even come close to doing. personally I’m all for that but GD knows and Billie loves people to love the songs while he plays. It’s a phobia. So he would never do that I think. The 3 singles released, for me 2 are straight out fucking bangers and 1 is fucking awesome. And if haven’t heard the rest myself I wouldn’t be as excited as I am. I really can’t help myself but it’s been a while since I was here. It’s a great one. Listen listen and then when you’re love you reali.d why you do. That’s what is so great about GD. Need skin and mics to fall in love. GD shows are good or bad, different or the same not by what they just played but how they played it that night. My dream of them ever going freestyle without a couple of audibles, I can deal with after all these years. I can’t think of something you should care less about in this wonderful world! Just walking outside is 500,000,000 more upsetting than getting a downvote or less? Wait what. You get it. If anyone wants to ever downvote (whatever that means) suffoKate btw is a fucking awesome name Kate, downvote me instead.1 point

Overrated? Downvote? Please log off, touch grass! How could it possibly be overrated, that doesn't even make sense. Naturally, there is going to be a lot of hype around an anniversary for a highly acclaimed, incredibly culturally relevant album. That doesn't take away from the fact that the boys are doing a good job of properly hyping the album up without overdoing it. The singles, the videos & promotional cycle have been fairly solid thus far. I've seen people that haven't been stoken in Green Day in years get genuinely excited & I think they are right to do so. The singles bring to mind more of what people generally prefer from Green Day & I don't think that makes any of this not-even-out album overrated. If anything, a lot of people are cautiously optimistic about the album, which seems like the opposite of anything being overrated. I don't think that term even applies in this situation, tbh. Seems like an unnecessarily pessimistic point of view to take.1 point

This has popped up. Says it’s one day old but interviewer says he hasn’t heard the record yet so it’s been dug up from somewhere. Butch Walker talking about recording with Green Day. https://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment/news/butch-walker-on-recording-green-day-album-music-radar/vi-AA1lHjrG1 point

I have a good feeling about this record. I haven't been so excited for a album in a while. I was just wondering if they are planning to release father to a son as a single and when, bc normally on the album release day the drop a single with video(or at least that's how market works nowadays) but I don't see them releasing a ballad along with the whole album to approach the media. Unless that ballad IS very good 👀1 point

The whole FOAM era felt so wrong and out of character, not only musically, but also the way they talked and behaved in interviews etc. I still can't help but think that FOAM was some kind of a joke or a big "f*ck you" to whomever, we don't know what was going on behind the scenes back then. All I know is that I'm so happy that this era is over and that our boys are back😄1 point
