True but oddly I also thought the opposite— that this is just the kind of thing to make him turn off comments or take his account down again. You can never tell with him7 points

So I guess this means I can't say I dislike blonde Billie anymore? I'm not sure what it is this time around, but those photos look great! 🤩4 points

*THE* previous album. A song about previously being a previous age. A....TEEN age, perhaps?4 points

FOAM is pretty fun. They should be proud of it. Experimenting is great and it turned out to be a good album, just not what we wanted after RevRad. Now with Saviors it seems we're getting just that.4 points

Commenting directly to people via social media on their appearance and speculating on them having surgery/wearing makeup is so boring and rude whether it's a celebrity or not. Can't blame anyone for being annoyed by that and I don't see what's wrong with expressing it. Thoroughly deserved takedown.4 points

The 21CB tour opener still gives me goosebumps after all this years. Would die for it if they decide to bring this one back.3 points

What does this even mean? 🤔 The song has been out for a month.3 points

“Father Of All… was one of those moments where we were like, ‘Let’s try something new.’ We learned so much from it, and it’s like it has a baby called Saviors!” Billie, I beg you to not describe the album as a FOAMF baby. Looking forward to the full interview!3 points

Don’t see the full thing yet, but this is on the website. Seems the magazine is only physically published quarterly now which is a shame but hopefully will make sharing it easier. https://www.kerrang.com/ Looks like this is the Winter issue, available to buy.2 points

That's incredible! I would love a list of Green Day related locations. If there is anything closer than California I would love to visit it. Anything in the Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee area that is Green Day related? Those are Day trips whereas all the super cool Billie Joe smoking a joint in your living room stuff is waaaaaaaay out there. I did the maths and it's exactly 2000 light-years away. Away.2 points

Not found it yet. I think it’ll be in bigger supermarkets and WH Smith. They had an older edition in HMV in Edinburgh yesterday, so assume it’ll be available there soon if you have one near you.2 points

I think this would cause @Christian's Inferno! to have a heart attack.2 points

I wonder if the song they're filming for at the bar was Father to a Son. If it's supposed to be a tearjerker, I could now picture a father character in the video (Billie himself or another actor) getting drunk at the bar.2 points

It's not gonna help us to know what is the next music video but they filmed it last night in Long Beach at the Alex's Bar. EDIT: it was for Green Day2 points

If you have Instagram here's a link to the interview from Green Day Inc https://www.instagram.com/p/C0RqdfONAwJ/?img_index=1 My biggest takeaways are that they seem to be planning on switching up the setlists from night to night for the upcoming tour and that I really want to hear Dilemma2 points

I ordered my copy 🤗 so happy to the see the boys on magazine covers again.2 points

It has to do with the lyrics in the song which are: I was a father in a bar When I smashed my guitar Father to a son1 point

You know what we need? A Green Day soap opera that is on every day of the year. Billie loves soap operas and I could direct.1 point
-
That’s because foam is awesome and all the haters don’t know what they’re talking about 😂1 point
-
perhaps instead of the picture used on the album cover they should have used the picture from Warning but all three of them are photoshopped to be shirtless and wearing nipple tassels1 point
-
And is it really new? Because that just seemed like something that was a forgone conclusion, like, yeah, that's something I assumed already happened hundreds of times 😄1 point

Blowing people up in order to play an audible? Do it. Father of all is great. Billie loves it. Hoorah.1 point

For a long time, they had a habit of being like, “oh, we don’t want to do things like that last album,” in interviews in a way that felt very…anxious and not super healthy. Like they were constantly reacting to what came before and their perceived failings of whatever the previous era was, trying to prove what they’re not anymore, instead of just looking to the future. I am not a FOAM fan, but I think the mindset they have now seems a lot healthier.1 point

If this is how they choose to structure their setlist for the Saviors tour - with a section or sections for audibles, where they can play some deeper cuts from Dookie and Idiot in addition to the obligatory hits that are always played - then I can see this interpretation being correct, and I hope that it is. My issue is that, over the last 6 years or so, they’ve always had the ability to deviate from their standard set, yet chose not to - only the rare change-up on the RevRad tour, no deviation whatsoever on the Hella Mega tour, and now only recently we’re starting to see a little bit of variety at the big shows with Milwaukee, Quebec, and Louisville this year. Basically, I hope that you’re right, but I’ll believe it when I see it. There’s only so much they can do with a 90 minute set 🤷🏻♂️1 point

I haven’t seen it to buy in years so have ordered one, will scan and upload when it arrives but I assume someone will beat me to it.1 point

You mean what's in front of his face? A camera. I suppose it's a video shoot and the scene needs to follow Billie while in movements. I don't think this rig would be used in a photoshoot1 point

New music video coming soon according to Instagram I hope it’s father to a son1 point

I’m in the top 0.05% too! Although I’m surprised I apparently only listened to TADIKM 98 times this month 😂1 point

I remember when Billie started teasing Foxies shows during the RevRad tour. Still waiting...1 point

There's no part of me that is in favor of the band in which you speak of, and for awhile i was on your side. But this is getting a bit obsessive like it's not healthy. This thread is about their new album, and it makes no sense to make the connection you made. I'm sure nothing billie is writing about has anything to do with joey, even the song Father to a Son is about him and his own father apparently.1 point

Considering the man can barely operate his phone half the time, I think it’d be a stretch to posit he knows Reddit mods by name lol1 point

He has changed his vocal placement in order to accommodate the stresses of touring/aging. It's really not a big deal, and an absolute necessity if he wants to maintain his voice and be able to continue performing for years to come. Look at the amount of old rock stars (Billie's age and older) that literally cannot sing their music anymore. Some of them can't even sing when they lower the key. We should all be happy that Billie is taking measures (and obviously being VERY intentional about his choices) that will help preserve his voice and allow them to keep making music and performing live.1 point
-
I think it’s a combination of aging and a change of vocal technique. From what I have researched and have seen (various sources) the voice does not reach its peak sound till about the mid 30s. Seems to align with what we have seen from Billie. I know in the 50’s it can be difficult because of the effects of aging. My dad was a singer and would tell me a lot about the new challenges he was facing as a singer in that age group. I think Billie started to face this around the Rev Rad era imo. He also smoked for many years and I know he suffers with some complications from that as well.1 point

@pacejunkie punk Same. I seem to remember us having some similar, concerned reactions at the time to some of the interviews surrounding FOAMF and how blasé Billie was acting toward his issues in favor of living out the party album vibe. It was really hard to hear. Now, with some perspective, I realize that since he was openly drinking at that time and didn’t intend to immediately stop, he could only admit to it and try to move on as though it was fine. He’s a public person whose personal struggles have been made public, and I’m sure that’s incredibly hard to navigate. Addiction is a bitch for anyone, and made even worse when people are watching your every move. In the moment, I was angry at how it was being handled because I was taken aback that the band was deliberately promoting the party lifestyle so hard, but now I have a lot of sympathy for him in that situation. As you said, all we can do is hope for the best and wish him well, because it’s something he’s always going to deal with. I’m happy that he appears so happy and healthy lately. The good vibes are back and I feel extremely grateful!1 point
