  1. You're off-topic, so you're not within the rules. Stop. And everybody else, if you continue to respond to this user with attacks you're also taking things off-topic and will be given a warning. Our apologies for the delay in responding to the reports. We all have day jobs beyond posting here — shocking, I know — and weren't able to get to the reports until now. But let's get this back on topic and discuss the album, not far-fetched conspiracy theories about a song title's connections to Billie's family and Reddit moderators (geez). Thanks.

  2. Billie did a “personal” thank you video for Spotify Wrapped if you either are a top listener or have them as your #1 artist. Kinda neat.

  4. “Father Of All… was one of those moments where we were like, ‘Let’s try something new.’ We learned so much from it, and it’s like it has a baby called Saviors!” Billie, I beg you to not describe the album as a FOAMF baby. Looking forward to the full interview!

  5. I like this thought. I've always thought that they're the only band I've followed where I have strong memories attached to them in my teens, 20s, 30s, and now 40s (and hopefully beyond). But yeah, I keep staring at his neck in interviews. (Had to end it on that note, didn't I)
    6 points
  6. Absolutely. The longer interviews are always better than these ten minute press junkets. You have to spend time with the artist to get them to really open up and talk about stuff
    5 points
  7. they advertised this interview as a world exclusive, so I hope they got deep into the creative process and stuff

  8. I hope we get a proper track-by-track description, especially on the song Saviors, because I don't believe 1 word about it being "not noteworthy"!!!!

  9. I know Nimrod had a range of styles but I consider Warning alone to be the direct comparison to FOAM. I’m sure they learn something new with every album they make but Nimrod was well received and had big hits where Warning was the acoustic style departure that made fans go “huh?” much in the way that FOAM did (though ofc now we appreciate Warning as an incredible album). Many people here remarked at the time they had high hopes for Saviors simply based on the fact that AI followed Warning and predicting a similar pattern.

  10. I’m cracking up because I may or may not have been googling neck aging recently and have just generally developed a fixation with comparing people’s necks. 😅 Thanks for validating my insanity, everyone. Worth noting that he has also been doing this pose for as long as I can remember, so this probably doesn’t help: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cy8SvocNiMN/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== It’s fine, I’m still stupid attracted to him like I was at 13 lol.

  11. Weight loss is probably a contributing factor. He lost a significant amount pretty fast. My mom lost a lot of weight over the past year and while she’s happy about it, she’s sad because her face and neck are now much more wrinkly looking than they were just a year ago and it’s a bit jarring for her, because that’s not exactly something moisturizing can fix. She’s in her late 50s and her skin elasticity just isn’t the same. Billie also seems to be out in the sun a lot surfing and stuff, and sun damage can do that, too. It is an odd experience noticing him looking slightly older (still on the young side for his age, but also aging more noticeably) for the first time in 20 years. He felt suspended in time forever. I took a couple years off from the band which I think makes me notice it a little extra, too. And then I remember I’m now 30 and look older too, lol. It’s all good, though. I think I’ve known since I first discovered Green Day that I wanted to get old with them. 🥹

  14. His Wrapped video is so cute. All my other top artists made very concise thank yous and he was clearly just winging it with the script. 😂

  15. According to Spotify Wrapped, I listened to TADIKM 105 times since it came out, so I did my part here. 😂

  16. Same. Then Billie spoke to me even if the song I listened the most was Euphoria by Muse. I wanted to have a message from MATT BELLAMY

  19. We are best buds with Billie now. Man, Spotify keeps forcing Muse on me, nearly making them my most played because of it! I like em but dang. Don't force them on me.

  20. He looks gorgeous here……almost enough to make me use Spotify if I’m going to get message from this guy! https://www.instagram.com/reel/C0O4gf4t7J4/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== he takes really unflattering selfies is my conclusion.

  21. Keep requesting this it needs to get to #1 on alternative airplay so it can overtake blinks one more time

  22. Your right. Back in 2012, 'Oh Love' was the most commercially successful single from the Trilogy. To the surprise of many fans at the time according to greenday.fm. Reaching # 5 rock charts, # 3 Alternative, and the last GD single to enter Hot 100 at #97. Maybe 'Father to a Son' can better that.

  23. C’est La vie folks, time catches up with us all, even Billie Joe. I’ve thought for the last couple of years he was beginning to look a little more like his age but everyone ages differently. I know my own neck seems to have quite suddenly turned traitor on me but that might be just my perspective 😂😂. Angles in photos make a difference but I’ve always said being too thin is ageing 😂😂. Still think he’s massively attractive even looking more mature.

  26. There's no part of me that is in favor of the band in which you speak of, and for awhile i was on your side. But this is getting a bit obsessive like it's not healthy. This thread is about their new album, and it makes no sense to make the connection you made. I'm sure nothing billie is writing about has anything to do with joey, even the song Father to a Son is about him and his own father apparently.

  27. And the transition from 1972 to Saviors!!!!

  28. Considering the fact that the last one had been pulled, I’m guessing they won’t allow a track by track until closer to January

  29. I just saw that! Loved that they did it this year, they didn’t last year when it was first available for artists to do. I got 0,005% top !

  33. Spotify Wrapped says I'm in the top 0.05% of fans. Next year, 0.01. I want to be #1. I listen to American Dream 78 times in a row, haha.

  34. You're not imagining things, there definitely is a small lick during the pre-chorus. I don't do tabs though, so can't help you there.

  36. I've said this before and will say it again. They have more success with ballads than most of their faster tempo stuffs. And I am pretty sure we're getting father to a son around 1st,-2nd week of December since it'll be weird to have a new single around Christmas. Then we'll probably get a promotional single 1981 prior a week before the albums release. And although OEB is not a bad song, I don't see it being a single

  37. That's what I'm waiting for too. It's something I always look forward too. I'd really love to see them on The Late Show with Colbert again. That's always so good.

  38. You think that's really something that affects his singing, though? If so, you'd think he'd keep losing to try and return to the ideal weight for his voice. I would say that would probably have been around 2009-2010 and 2013-2015. He had a perfect balance then. Definitely in shape, but also certainly not too skinny like he's been at other times. Like I mentioned previously, I have no idea what different things can affect singing, aside from the most obvious.

  39. Breathing is definitely an integral part of anybody's vocal technique. The most important part of breathing, as it relates to singing (and a lot of other things for that matter) is breathing with your diaphragm. A really good exercise for this is to take a big deep breath...if your shoulders lift up more than a very miniscule amount when you do this, then you are not breathing from your diaphragm or with proper technique. Ideally, when you take a breath in, you want to feel your ribcage/midsection expand, like you're filling up a balloon that is right in between your ribs and stomach. I don't know if I necessarily would say that it's a must to be able to breathe through the nose and mouth at the same time. You are 100% correct that breathing through only your mouth would have a negative impact on your vocal chords (in the moment) because it may cause them to dry out more quickly. Typically speaking, if you have a reasonable amount of time between phrases, a breath through the nose is going to be your best bet. And, obviously, the more time you have before you start singing again, the slower and more controlled your breath can be. If you have almost no time before your next phrase, you need to take what's often called a "catch breath," which is where you (most often through your mouth) take a really quick breath in order to get right back into the next phrase. Seasoned vocalists can take a full breath with their catch breath if needed. Breathing is honestly one of the absolute biggest things to consider when talking about good vocal technique and one that literally has chapters upon chapters worth of information about its importance. It's difficult because it has to be an intentional focus. The slightest bit of a change in your sinuses, congestion (chest or nasal), etc. ALL impact how you can breath. The average person knows about this just from getting a cold or whatever. So now imagine having to consciously consider all of those things you have going on and have to make on the spot adjustments to your techniques.

  40. Falsetto, in theory and practice, would actually prevent the vocal chords from becoming strained or damaged. If you were to sing a full-voiced, sustained note that was in the middle of your range and then start sliding higher in pitch. you will get a a point where you have to choose to continue pushing in your same voice, or "flip" into a different part of your register (typically the falsetto that you are speaking of). This flip occurs at your break point, classically referred to as the passaggio. With proper training and technique, you can extend where your break point/passaggio comes in. Often, the ability to extend your range comes with changing your placement or singing technique. which is what is causing Billie's sound to be a bit "thinner" than it has sounded in the past. This is why it's actually very reassuring to me any time Billie changes his technique. He is making choices that will, in the long run, extend the longevity of his vocal chords and ability to perform. I know that some of this is somewhat technical, but I am a classically trained vocalist and love talking about this shit. So I will gladly answer any questions that anybody has about these topics.

  41. I think the logical step is release a ballad, because they already released two rockers in a row they need to show the softer side of saviors

  42. Charts really make no sense, how can it be no 1 on 2 of them and dropped off another one completely!? I do know, just in case anyone felt the need to explain, but they are odd taken in isolation.

  47. That was nice to hear from FOB. I’ve always found it so cool how the guys in Green Day are genuinely close friends. Most musicians would do side projects to get away from their regular band mates, but these guys choose to do their side projects together, lol. Their chemistry is easy to take for granted, because I always feel so weird when I read stories like, “X band fired their drummer and he learned about it through a text!” I’m like lol…how does that even happen? But I guess the answer is, as Patrick said, it’s easy to just become colleagues after a while.

  48. In anticipation of TADIKM, one's listening of their Green Day playlists led to them being my 2nd Top Artist on my Spotify wrapped this year. Peak time was October. Didn't expect Billie to have filmed a message though - a nice touch to add to the promo.
