  1. He has changed his vocal placement in order to accommodate the stresses of touring/aging. It's really not a big deal, and an absolute necessity if he wants to maintain his voice and be able to continue performing for years to come. Look at the amount of old rock stars (Billie's age and older) that literally cannot sing their music anymore. Some of them can't even sing when they lower the key. We should all be happy that Billie is taking measures (and obviously being VERY intentional about his choices) that will help preserve his voice and allow them to keep making music and performing live.

  2. That was nice to hear from FOB. I’ve always found it so cool how the guys in Green Day are genuinely close friends. Most musicians would do side projects to get away from their regular band mates, but these guys choose to do their side projects together, lol. Their chemistry is easy to take for granted, because I always feel so weird when I read stories like, “X band fired their drummer and he learned about it through a text!” I’m like lol…how does that even happen? But I guess the answer is, as Patrick said, it’s easy to just become colleagues after a while.

  4. You can see FOB are basically saying what, to me, Green Day said before recording AI. The relationship can so easily just become business and thankfully GD reset theirs and seem to have maintained it. I love the friendship side of them, love hearing these things. There was a similar interview with MCR years ago saying similar things about GD. can’t find the one I’m looking for, maybe it was an article but found this one.

  5. It also makes me sad when I see former bandmates suing each other over rights and money. I can’t imagine our guys ever doing that.

  8. The Letterman story about Tre is really making the rounds. The DJ on Sirius XM’s Lithium channel was just telling it and then they played Redundant! Pretty awesome I never hear that on the radio.

  9. I think it’s a combination of aging and a change of vocal technique. From what I have researched and have seen (various sources) the voice does not reach its peak sound till about the mid 30s. Seems to align with what we have seen from Billie. I know in the 50’s it can be difficult because of the effects of aging. My dad was a singer and would tell me a lot about the new challenges he was facing as a singer in that age group. I think Billie started to face this around the Rev Rad era imo. He also smoked for many years and I know he suffers with some complications from that as well.

  10. @Flashback Right now, it just seems on the early side to me to be promoting too hard. I expect after Christmas they’ll have some TV appearances. And in December/January they’ll probably have some good magazine interviews, too. I imagine this time of year, it’s hard to do promo without it getting lost in the holiday shuffle. Doing stuff like the Amazon show and the Grey Cup were smart early promo moves, but I’m thinking the more robust interviews will happen a bit closer to album drop.

  11. I talked to someone after the show who kept the guitar. She got a pass or something and had to go to the front after the show (they go back to the crowd). The tour crew handed her a package with the guitar in it which they signed. That was in 2013 and I dont know how they do it today

  12. Yes! And I'm a greedy fangirl who wants even more! They were just in Toronto. It was the perfect opportunity to just absolutely smear it on! Toronto is the raccoon capitol of the world! EDIT: Oh, whoops! They were in Ontario. Never mind about the raccoons, then. But that doesn't change my desire for even more eyeliner!

  13. Seattle, please! But how fucking lucky does one have to be to actually get into one of these tiny shows? Is it basically a lottery system? Do you have to be looking at Insta constantly to see if they announce a show? It's something I've always dreamed of, but seems so hard to even get into. Stressful for people who work/study a lot. I'm in grad school right now so I'm busy most of the time.

  14. MTV literally plays this Taco Bell commercial A LOT throughout the day. Heard it 17 (yes, I counted) times in my 6 hours at home watching Ridiculousness the other day.

  16. I hope they shoot out Taco Bell combos into the crowd and dump Baja Blast all over us. Taco Bell guitars, outfits, the works! Taco Bell stations all over the venue.

  17. If they do a NYE performance it will be prerecorded like it was in 2019. Coverups are doing a live show that night (much like Longshot was that year)

  18. I'm really curious about their marketing strategy this time. If I remember correctly when they started the FOAM era, they had several appearances on TV shows. Hopefully they don't stay silent too long since the streaming and sales charts start to decline again. Would be a shame, because TADIKM did quite well so far. I'm sure it would be more successful on charts than FOAM (single) when they would do more promotion 🤔

  20. it confused me too ... but maybe sth got lost in translation or whatever? maybe he wrote (parts) of the song many years ago, but for the actual "full band/studio" writing/recording process it was the last song they worked on? or its just billie being billie (still waiting for the forever now music video) 🤣

  21. That's just one of these extremely strange things of the FOAM promotion... Billie's cameo in a rap video. Just why? 😅

  25. We live in a capitalist society. Money Money. It's all that really matters. I don't like it, but it's the world we live in (for now). That said, I'd rather them take money from corporations than increase ticket prices for us.

  33. I honestly don’t think I could rank the songs. Holy Toledo and MMOTR are the only ones I return to. 😬 The pandemic has wiped my memory of what promo they did for FOAM but I don’t think they spoke about it they way they’re doing with Saviors now, if that makes sense

  34. I remember at the time he made that comment the impression I got from it was that he meant not from a songwriter’s perspective but from a listener’s perspective. He was saying how he doesn’t have the attention span to listen to a long song and doesn’t think anyone else does anymore. It still may have been bullshit but that was my takeaway. The other bullshit thing he was saying at the time which to me was more out of character and ridiculous was the whole thing about not wanting to hear feel good music, shut the fuck up about your feelings, rock music should make you feel bad, blah blah blah. Like wtf Billie all you do is write about your feelings. One interviewer called him out on that statement and his response was pretty funny. He said he can write about his feelings because “I feel awful” 😂 I laughed about it at the time but it was probably a pretty good glimpse into his mental state then.

  36. If so, they need to do more of it. I didn't get a Thanksgiving song or Black Friday song or a Taco Bell penned Theme Song.

  37. I wonder if Billie always starts with ‘irate’ as his word or if he mixes it up. I need an interviewer to ask that kind of hard hitting question. 😂

  45. Yeah the ads work in funny ways. As a fan, it makes me want to support Taco Bell just for supporting Green Day.

  46. Nobody seems to make much from music these days so who can blame them. There seems to be a trend, maybe just in the Uk, where ads suggest you are a total moron if you but their product. Perhaps the ads are meant to be funny or ironic but they are failing. Just might have to try Taco Bell as I never have 😂😂

  47. I've got a pretty decent grasp on how these things work through my career. Depends on the type of arrangement artists have with their publishers / record labels, but for the most part songs will be sync licensed without the artists approval. This is especially common with larger (usually pop) artists as there's just too many requests for them to personally approve usage. However (and I'm only talking about UK here) but I believe Green Day are on a pretty select list (relatively speaking) that require prior approval. This is common for bands and artists that are conscious of their brand and image. These campaigns are incredibly lucrative, though. This doesn't seem like a HUGE campaign - and it totally depends on media buy - but we could be talking a couple of hundred thousand dollars easy cash just for a few weeks on-air. It's a no-brainer (pun intended). On a separate note, creatively it's a terrible choice of song for an ad, given the lyrics. "Look Ma, No Brains"? What are Taco Bell trying to insinuate about their customers? 😆
