I took a look the other day at Green Day’s monthly listeners on Spotify and was kinda blown away at how many they have, though. They have 10 million+ more listeners than Blink 182, Maneskin, Foo Fighters, Metallica, Paramore, and The Killers. They also cleared Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, and The Rolling Stones by several million monthly listeners. Bands with a comparable amount of monthly listeners, just above Green Day, were Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Beatles. I have no idea who the most appropriate bands to measure them against are at this point (hence my wide range of subgenres here), but these are all rock or rock-adjacent bands I consider to be mainstream successes and I was kinda shocked that Green Day blows them all out of the water in terms of popularity on Spotify.14 points

I think there’s something to be said for having thirty years worth of hit songs and to keep grinding away at playing them over and over, drawing in new curious fans of all ages to check out the rest of their stuff.9 points

John’s of Bleecker really does have the best pizza. They use the same coal fired brick oven that they’ve had since like the 1930’s. Nice, crispy- thin crust and tastes like a traditional pie that you would get in Italy. I actually met a client at work a few months ago who used to be a waitress at John’s of Bleecker and we got to talking about Green Day and she said that Billie came in one day during the American Idiot on Broadway days and was super cool and gave the owner and a bunch of the staff tickets to a show.8 points

Random question - why do you always quote yourself in the same post?7 points
-
I dunno if this has been mentioned before but it just occurred to me that the album cover has a resemblance to Joey Ramones album… surely a nod.7 points

Absolutely disagree.... 21st and RevRad both get plenty of high praise.7 points

It’s common to be in and out multiple times. He quit drinking again last year so he may have gone back again for a tune up. Unless it interferes with some public obligation we’re not necessarily going to know that5 points

The IG post is shit and low res, but looks like BJA especially has had quite a bit of a Photoshop touch up.5 points

Seems like they've just done the one junket so far for a handful of radio stations. Album is still a way off. Sure there will be a load more promotion. Hoping for a long-form interview like a podcast. A lot of these quick fire, 5 minute radio interviews are just much of a muchness. Lots of stuff we've all heard before.5 points

alcohol abuse is serious you never get healed again thats why you refer to people who are "clean" for the moment as "dry alcoholic"4 points

Seems to be a personal health & happiness thing for him, and he seems great in both of those categories at the moment4 points

I have absolutely deranged ADHD mile-a-minute fangirl thoughts whenever Green Day plays a televised event. Tonight’s CFL halftime show started off with a drone shot of the stage and I was like, “Haha cool okay zoom in. Zoom in. The song is starting ZOOM IN. BILLIE IS SINGING ZOOM IN ON HIM.” 😂 I then proceeded to obsess over his jacket and worry about him falling down the stairs (???) that were on the stage to get to the catwalk.4 points

I was just listening to the interview on 93.5 Today Radio. When asked if they still smoke, Billie Joe said: "I just got out of rehab." It seemed like he wasn't joking and wasn't referring to ten years ago. What do you guys think? I've uploaded the audio here3 points

No, way back in the day that might have happened, but this past week he really was sick, as were other band members. It wouldn’t have been that recent, most likely sometime over the last year. Anyway, good for him for getting what he needs. He’s often talked about being concerned about his own long term health and longevity in the game and his self vigilance is what will help make that a reality. And he did not sound like he was joking. He laughs at his own jokes. This sounded more like an awkward pause in the face of a direct question and he decided to just tell the truth.3 points

There's no way this album will be an average album. I'm excited more than ever.3 points

It’s not. She’s talking about the apparent delay, that is, the unexplained gap between the making of this album and its release date (2021-2024)2 points

Omg I was screaming in my head STOP SHOWING THE CROWD BILLIE IS ON STAGE. LET ME SEE HIMMMMMMMMM! And when I saw that jacket? *Swoon* And seeing his cold red little nose reminded me of seeing them in the freezing cold in st. Louis and thinking how smart Billie looked in his coat 😏 Also he can't possibly be in his 50s. That's a lie. He's trolling us 😂 he just doesn't want to share his fountain of youth secret.2 points

I like the concept but totally agree, why on earth would anyone airbrush to this extent? It just looks fake. Hope it’s better irl, he’s an attractive guy even at 51, let him be!2 points

Still Breathing and revolution radio were released simultaneously like two and a half weeks before revolution radio was released actually the album leaked on YouTube a week before it was released believe I heard it on September 30th 20162 points

I feel like the lead single for this dropped very early — nearly 3 months ahead of the album is super early for Green Day compared to many previous single releases (for context, American Idiot had one single before the album dropped, released one month ahead, same with 21CB, and RevRad had one single released ahead of the album by about 2 months). A 3-month lead time is making it feel weird that there hasn’t been more interviews yet, but realistically that level of promo really shouldn’t be in full swing until like, early January. I think they probably wanted the new music out to announce the tour and have people scoop those up as Christmas gifts and whatnot, which makes sense, but leaves a big gap before the album. I hope we get a Black Friday/holiday season merch drop with some new stuff, though!2 points

Ok thanks! It looked a bit too Ai (artificial intelligence, not American idiot) for me.2 points

He can't hold Chicago accountable because his tum can't handle deep dish! Plus we have other delectables for his enjoyment like hot dogs and malort and Garrett's popcorn. Lots of options for Billie!2 points

I absolutely agree. Maybe the next single would be the one they showed in that one teaser where Billie said he wanted it to be dynamic, similar to Letterbomb.2 points

For me RR's last song is Forever Now. This is a must-skip, I'm afraid.2 points

Wasn't there a time during the early days where the three of them just gorged themselves on deep-dish pizza while in Chicago and got super sick afterwards? Maybe Billie remembered that went 'hmm let's not and say we did'.2 points

I'm still mad that at the 2016 Aragon show Billie said Chicago can adopt him and he's still not here. We finished the paperwork, Billie. We have deep dish hot n ready for you, Billie. What are you waiting for?2 points

I love how happy Kevin looks here. Also, is it just me, does that look like a framed picture of Billie on the drum riser?2 points

So these appear to be from yesterday. They look fine which is good to see, in fact they look better than fine, Billie looks gorgeous and the eyeliner is on point! https://www.instagram.com/p/Czw5Pd1u_gW/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==2 points

I just came to post the photos from this (it happened a while ago. I posted the tweet at the time). Saw a Instagram pic of AI certified 💎 10 million sold, that’s their second diamond album next to Dookie. That’s great…people sleep on insomniac but that was their second highest selling album prior to AI. Hopefully maybe that can get close Insomniac has sold 10 million worldwide I believe 5-6 million in the US.1 point

Bang Bang, Revolution Radio & Still Breathing were all released alongside their lyric videos before the album released. Still Breathing & Revolution Radio were only released as singles later Oh Love, Kill the DJ and Let Yourself Go before the release of Uno. I think Nuclear Family released before Uno too but wasn't an official single? FOAMF's first single (the title track) released 5 months before the album release What's happening with Saviors is not unusual for Green Day1 point

I still don’t believe 1981 will be released as a single. Imo it’s too similar to LMNB. It’s obviously a different song with a different subject matter, but both songs are short and straightforward and I think that the next single should be musically different from the two songs we already know. I’m pretty sure the next single will be a ballad or a mid-tempo song, probably Father to a Son.1 point

Hope we get some instrumental breakdowns on this record like Welcome to Paradise, ending of Blvd, and Too Dumb to Die.1 point

It was interesting when he mentioned the album making process and then said “sometimes you think you’re inspired and you’re not…” The interviewers should have chased this comment down but I wonder if that’s what happened with FOAM1 point
