But even if "Father To A Son" is a dedication to Joey, why should you care? Billie loves his son...Both his sons, but surely also Joey. He didn't start hating him after the Lydia story. And stop saying pedophile. Pedophiles are different things. Rapes are different things. And, to conclude, thank goodness Billie is a smart man and hasn't disowned his son. Thanks to all your hatred, they've become even closer!17 points

Rain falling from the stars is a poetic way of saying he’s up late at night and it’s raining. It’s a description of rain at night and all the darkness and sadness that implies. Don’t underestimate Billie’s songwriting17 points

Whatever, can you please stop? This has nothing to do with the album. And it's getting annoying. This topic has been exhausted a lot of time ago. If you want to go on talking about this, create another topic. If you have some kind of frustration about your life to vent, try with the gym or another leisure time activity. Thanks.11 points

The band has nothing to do with this. This topic is for the new album and new songs. So, please, stop, you and your crusade. It's not nice to see words like Pedophile thrown on a topic that should be about music. And if you really know what a Pedophile is, I think you should stop using such a word so lightly. Again, please stop.9 points

So, I haven’t been to any live events in nearly four years now. I have medical issues that require me to continue being COVID-cautious. It was a no-brainer to skip Hella Mega because it was rescheduled quite early into the pandemic and just wasn’t possible for me. But it’s going to be 2024, and I haven’t seen Green Day since 2017. I miss them like hell and just felt like I can’t *not* see them. Pre-COVID, I was always of the mindset that live events were one thing I felt willing to splurge on, because they’re special opportunities and you never know how long it’ll be before a band you love tours again, if ever. All this to say I booked a fucking suite so that I can see them over the summer as safely as possible. 😂 It’s an outdoor venue and suites are on their own private level, so I feel really good about it safety-wise. Did I break the bank? Mmhmm. Does the gentleman I dealt with to book it think I’m a deranged fangirl? 100%, and he’s correct about that. But I haven’t spent money on anything fun for nearly four years. I am SO FUCKING EXCITED! I booked it with my family who have similarly skipped out on events these last few years and we feel really lucky we were able to make this happen.9 points

It's so easy to get lost in GD's awesome sound, and inadvertently missing the message in most if not all of Billie Joe's amazing song lyrics. I don't think dropping out of school has had any detrimental effect on his use of the English language. Billie Joe is one of the cleverest and foremost songwriters of our time and deserves a far wider acclaim. I really enjoy just picking up my printout of all his lyrics and just read them away from the music. From the early 90's, whether he's writing about girls, friends, or family relationships, or about himself and the emotional effects of the ups and downs of daily life, his heart and soul are in those words. And very importantly his lyrics form a connection with the reader/listener thereby being able to relate to the message in those lyrics. In later albums, his songwriting has included fictional stories and views on political and significant issues of our time. There's always a purpose and meaning to his writing, no matter how obscure. And only Billie Joe would come up with the words 'Bada bing, bada bing, bada boom' in the song OEB and it works. Imho, I don't there's anyone around to touch him for putting meaningful words into song.9 points

Re: Father to a Son, I’m pretty sure it’s more about Billie’s feelings on fatherhood than about the son in question. From the few lyrics we’ve seen, it’s framed as being about the type of father he is/how it has changed him/how he’s making a promise, father to a son.6 points

This. I'm guessing a large proportion of fans, including me, don't make a living wage and a $250+ ticket is like a slap in the face to see their favorite band.6 points

To be honest, P!nk riff sounds a lot like "Black Night" from Deep Purple. It's just a very common bluesy riff; they don't need to change it. Also, I agree with you, the length is pratically the same. What we are getting 99percent is the same version that was leaked. I don't really get why people were saying it sounded bad or needed to be remixed. The only problem was it was degraded due to having being compressed on TikTok, probably. But even with this flaw the mastering sounded very tight and finished. Honestly, it works well the way it is. Not a total banger but a good catchy song.5 points

I don't know the real lyrics, but I think if done correctly, a callback to Wake Me Up When September Ends would be pretty epic and not corny.4 points

And plus fees. Tickets in Chicago were 159 for most seats yet throw in the fees and suddenly its over $200. Some folks are fine with paying that price. Others aren't or can't especially a package tour like this.4 points

I really agree with this. The recorded version is ok, maybe too bland, but the live versions were really awesome, and the break after the solo really helped to create momentum in the show. I hope they can manage to put Oh Love back in the set for that only reason. On the other hand, this topic really made me go into the memory lane and I started to record covers of the trilogy. And that felt awesome. I love those songs so much4 points

i know about that theory, but i really really really REALLY believe it's just a coincidence. because how in the world is BJA going to defend his son when JOEY himself and the rest of SWMRS admitted to everything they were accused of ??????? it's not like BJA is a firm believer of doubting rape victims, let alone ones that are 100% confirmed to be victims. i'm more inclined to believe the lyrics to CUNT are mostly gibberish or have an entirely different meaning altogether4 points

Theres a lot of tickets around $120 CAD. That’s well under $200 USD. This is what I mean. Need to leverage the perceived value vs the face value of the ticket. I’d rather sit in nosebleeds and be there than not be there at all. I didn’t get an option to opt in or out for Hella Mega. They couldn’t make it over the border and my beautiful floor tickets didn’t exist anymore. If you told me I could be in the 500s and the show would happen I’d be there and I’d be HAPPY. The icing on the cake was reading complaints here after the shows around the setlist while I was being forced to miss my first tour since AI days (both were outside my control). I also couldn’t reach one of the out of town shows on Rev Rad leg 1 due to physical health conditions. I never got to see them play Pollyanna, I missed them playing Waiting which I’ve never seen. I also have never seen them play Knowledge despite that being on many setlists. But I’ve also seen so many rare songs too, specifically a night where they went to Kerplunk multiple times. Me missing out on stuff sucked but I don’t care, I’m happy to get to go to this tour. Regardless of my tickets, I just want to be there and be a part of such a large show for the band. I want to experience a massive show like this, I’m tired of watching them online.4 points

Yeah but when you don't want to see any of the other bands it's like somebody upselling you a car with features you don't want. Wow, is that even an advertised option? How many people can it fit? That's going to be awesome! At this point that sounds like it might be a decent deal, compared to the seat/pit prices per person.3 points

Finally someone says it. Those who are perfectly content paying 200 plus dollars a ticket to see Green Day, clearly have plenty of disposable income and live in a different tax bracket than most Green Day fans. Nothing wrong with that. If you have 200 bucks to burn on a concert ticket, go ahead. But that ironically enough is the entire theme of this record.; the average Joe getting screwed more and more. The prices of this tour directly contradict that whole message they wanted to send. THAT is a slap in the face. But I digress...... To me it's just gonna feel weird that for the first time since I've been listening to this band, I'm not gonna get to see them live, two album tours in a row now. Because they've priced me out of tickets. 🤐 I'm still a fan. Always will be. I will still buy their album in January. Life goes on.....3 points

I called the label and they told me they’re working on an ultimate netflix tweet to promote the album. Could take a few more months to complete it. I mean we’re capable of writing things in other perspectives. The song always seemed to be a bit on the side of social commentary. Everyone talked about that laryngitis part but it could also be used to poke fun at these keyboard warriors who have no voice in real life. I’m just worried because if Father to a Son becomes a single this opens up Billie for interview questions about Joey’s conduct. Billie can’t even discuss the 2012 IHeart thing in an interview. Wtf is he going to say when he’s questioned on this? And in his defense with group think plaguing society as a whole it’s a question that demonizes him regardless of the response yet he is not the demon, his adult son was/is.3 points

The riff is definitely not the same. The rhythm is the same, but definitely not the played notes. Every musician in western music just has the same 12 semi-tones. Similarities occur. Maybe they just give Pink writing credits, then the problem is solved. Or they indeed reworked the riff to be save. We will see.3 points

I (OK, technically my mom's phone number) won the radio station contest! (Watch them be worse seats than the one I bought and am bitching about 😂)3 points

I don't think anyone was expecting tickets to be $50 but I don't think people expected them to be 200+ per ticket. Lots of folks can't swing that and it's disappointing. The state of concerts is getting to the point where if you don't have mad disposable income, you miss out.3 points

Everyone's situation is different. I don't think you can make a blanket statement like that. Some people can afford it and are comfortable with that. Some can afford it but still don't want to pay for their own reasons and situations. Others can't afford it all even with a job. I understand things increase in price especially with inflation but that doesn't mean people have to like it or support it with their dollars.2 points

It's kind of on topic because the word Pedophile is in TADIKM2 points

It’s not advertised, but for anyone interested, I recommend reaching out to the venue directly! They should have a specific email/phone number for suites or special events. My venue had all different sizes — some options could fit 12, others could fit up to like 55 people! My suite includes 16 tickets and came out to about $300 per ticket, so it’s definitely worth it if you have people who you can go in on it with. I think pricing varies a lot depending on the venue, but definitely worth a shot! And I got to skip over the Ticketmaster nonsense and just deal with a human, which was nice. You’re in competition with companies who might also be booking suites for their staff or clients, but I had no trouble reserving one and I’m allowed to pay in installments. And you won’t be the only private party booking a suite — I think a lot of people do this for close family or friends for concerts or sports games (at least, I found a bunch of everyday people on TikTok who have done it, lol), it’s just not talked about a lot!2 points

True. I probably wouldn't see Smashing Pumpkins if they were headling unless it was in my hometown and cheap. Rancid....eh...maybe I would drive an hour or two. Uh oh. Now you've got my questioning my decison to go to the further away show with the Pumpkins versus the closer show without them. Dang it. Dang it all to dookie.2 points

To me a relief, that there is less low end. The FOAM and post-FOAM songs had way too much low end 😅2 points

I am looking at the Georgia show and this is how it's going: 35 bucks, okay. Let's try to get a bit clo.....800 dollars! What the bleep? I'm not Justin Beiber you motherbleepers! Why don't you bring Usher back out here to pay for my tickets....please! 800 dollars, this is a joke. this is bleeping joke. you gotta be kidding me. Haha I'm thinking I can probably do 164-200 dollars, which will get me dead center between Jillie Bow and nosebleed. Wow. I'm about to be pushing my luck all over town as I email the label asking to hear the album early AND pretty please get me into a show for free.2 points

I like Oh Love better live than on the album, I think it’s very soulful, as is Oh Love which is a good song but a bad single I thought.2 points

They are planned ahead and interviewers have been primed on what they will answer or not. One did try and ask about Iheart before though. Was it Radio X or something like that? He pushed Billie a little bit past the edge on that. Ive never seen Billie get like that in an interview. I can imagine this happening again and it’s not good for the interview as a whole or for the band. The only thing I can really think of is that Joey is his own man now and he needs to manage his personal relationships accordingly and learn from the mistakes he has made. Having a famous father doesn’t change that. I’m not familiar with her band so maybe there’s context going over my head. They play teles?1 point

I’ve always really liked the trilogy. Every album has at least some of Green Day’s best songs ever. it’s a shame they didn’t get proper time to promote otto the fullest potential.1 point
