I donāt think anything has been confirmed. A lot of people just assumed it was re-recorded because they thought it sounds like a FOAM track and because of the similarities to Pinkās āSo Whatā. Personally, I donāt think the new version will sound much different from the leaked one.6 points

I agree @CherryBombs&Gasoline. I am just seriously revisiting the trilogy for the first time in a while and I really kinda love how you can do a build-your-own-playlist with the albums. Brutal Love has been a top 5 Green Day song for me from the moment I heard it, Lazy Bones is also way up there for me, and there are a lot of other standout tracks, too. Itās unfortunate how overlooked these songs are/that they have a reputation for being mediocre, because many of them are great. Music is so visceral and so some of the songs still bring me right back to how I felt listening in 2012. Which breaks my heart to revisit. But with time, Iāve definitely been able to separate them from the surrounding context and enjoy the trilogy more.4 points

I think Uno is an underrated album and probably the most cohesive record of the trilogy. I still think that releasing three albums was a bad idea, but the trilogy is not nearly as bad as some people claim. Some songs are mediocre, some songs are bad, but there are also a lot of bangers, and Uno is no exception. Stay the Night is my favorite but I actually like all of the songs with the exception of Troublemaker. Furthermore, I believe that Oh Love gets way too much hate. It was a good single and I still enjoy it.4 points

I have a feeling Father to a Son will be the next single, based on the songs mentioned in the podcast with Mike4 points

I would think we wonāt start getting those detailed reviews until late December/early January. It doesnāt come out until mid-January; November seems really early to me to be getting a lot of info.4 points

I don't think anyone was expecting tickets to be $50 but I don't think people expected them to be 200+ per ticket. Lots of folks can't swing that and it's disappointing. The state of concerts is getting to the point where if you don't have mad disposable income, you miss out.4 points
-
It was published by Rolling Stone Italy and then removed. I wonder if when they play these records in advance for journalists they ask them not to reveal too much too early. This track by track breakdown with lyric samples was a little over the line I guess4 points

The back vocal from 1981 (Goodbye, Farewell) sound a lot like Foo Fighters, Monkey Wrench (fall in, fall out)4 points

For specific fans not caring about certain bands, thatās very subjective and doesnāt change the objectivity of the value being provided. Thereās also the chance you go to the show and actually give them a listen and you enjoy yourself. Iām surprised at the complaints about pricing. I knew thereād be some objections but now itās becoming whiny, old and stale. Did everyone think tickets were gonna be 50-80 dollars? Does nobody see the cost of gas? The cost of living/food? I donāt understand, this has been ongoing steady since the mid 2000s⦠The cost of the tour has gone up significantly and theyāre hitting way less stops along the way. Theyāre spending entire months of their lives to deliver the service to us. Thereās a $ value on that. At the end of the day when you finish work you go home to your family, they get on a bus. My biggest pet peeve right now are people who complain about the piss poor status of art as a whole but cannot shell out anything to support. Then thereās the attitude of āwell they dont have to work soā¦ā. They have a hard job and I can guarantee most 9-5ers and shift workers arenāt designed to pump in the hours or level of effort required to put on a tour like this successfully, let alone make an album. Thereās also an amazing road crew that helps put the stage together and make sure they standardize the experience from town to town. They also donāt get to go home to their families at the end of the night.4 points

Oh Brutal Love. I loved this song as soon as I heard it. Never expected green day to do something like this. It harkens old soul singers like sam cooke and I still absolutely love it. I was fortunate enough to see them play it live on the 99 Revolutions Tour and it's a moment I cherish.2 points

i can hear it! "fa-ther-to-a-son" if that's truly the riff and the song is about BJA's father, i can see this song being even more tear producing than wake me up when september ends2 points

Iāve always really liked the trilogy. Every album has at least some of Green Dayās best songs ever. itās a shame they didnāt get proper time to promote otto the fullest potential.2 points

No heās joking. The only confirmed lyrics are these (but youāll still be a hot mess): āYouāre a lighthouse in a storm / From the day that you were bornā; āWell, I made a few mistakes / But Iāll never break your heart / A promise / Father to a sonā; āI never knew a love / Could be scarier than anger.ā2 points

Agreed. And the fact they were in such a panic, is the leaked version the version on the album?2 points

It makes perfect sense to me why the mods were so strict about not sharing the OEB leak while not caring too much about the other leaks, they probably knew this whole time it would be on 1972/Saviors!!!2 points

dang, those songs actually sound very nice, wish they would have been present in foam2 points

Just to make sure I've got this. A third single is a definite, either before Christmas/end of year, or January prior to album release. Also, that single should be a ballad, being the popular choice on here, or have we had some hint? That ballad assumed to be 'Father and Son'. Therefore, 1981 or OEB as the third single is a no, no. Talking of the latter, it looks like I am the odd one out, as I really like the leaked version of OEB. It's been confirmed that the song has been re-recorded for the album?2 points

If Father and Son has the line "I'm awake" to the instrumental chords of Wake Me Up When September Chords. Man. That would be epic. I'm awake /Standing in the rain / still breathing / still crying from the pain2 points

I think "Boulevard of broken dreams" was the second official single from American idiot not what I would consider a ballad, but mid tempo rocker and I think it actually did better than the first single. you are correct 21 guns was the second single off 21st century breakdown and yes it was a pretty big hit even appearing in feature film transformers revenge of the fallen2 points
-
I also think that a ballad will be the next and "big" single. Didn't American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown really blow up when the ballads WMUWSE and 21 Guns were released?2 points
-
I actually heard it on my local rock radio last week while driving to work! It was a shock because they usually only play old GD (dookie/AI) songs.2 points
-
I know the chances are almost zero, but I might politely ask for an advance of the album. I'll tell them I am That Dude, the one who loves even Trilogy and FOAM - I'm sure to give it a glowing review. I might even boost sales by like 5 people or something. You never know.2 points
-
Thatās disappointing to hear. I guess the reality is thereās no way for a bunch of 11 year olds to get industry and media attention without at least some connections but they really put themselves out there as a DIY punk success story because they were unusual.2 points
-
@GDFan2019 Thatās a good point. I just wonder how much it helps the band to have reviews out two months early, you know? Yes, it might result in some pre-orders, but for a lot of people, they might read the review and say, āhuh, Iāll have to check that album outā and then forget by the time Jan. 19 rolls around. Itās definitely awkward timing because of the holidays.2 points

I wonder how long before we start seeing American track by track reviews2 points

I mean Chester's heavier vocals are metal. Their first 2 albums are nu-metal, which is a subgenre of metal characterized by rock/metal and hip-hop. For those first 2 albums, Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn cover the hip-hop side of Linkin Park mostly while the guitars, drums and Chester's vocals cover the heavier/metal side I have no idea if what is said in the article is accurate or not and it's best to take it with a grain of salt. But the notion that Chester's screams are not metal is not going to be the reason it turns out to be inaccurate2 points
-
The way they described bobby sox in the Italian billboard article is wild but again grain of salt because people hear shit differently I'm willing to bet whoever said it's gonna sound like weezer with metal chorus like Linkin Park is gonna be proven inaccurate the reason being they actually consider Linkin Park metal lol2 points

My friend saying he wants to buy tickets to the SF show, as soon as he saw the prices, "Nevermind, maybe I'll try to win tickets on the radio" He thinks I'm crazy for spending $600. The things I do for my favorite band...2 points

Just found a really good cover of 1981!!! Sheās gonna bang her head like 1981 Sheās gonna bang her head like 1981 (So long, farewell) Sheās gonna bang her head like 1981 Sheās gonna bang her head like 1981 Sheās throwing punches to the beat To the sound of cable TV And sheāll never see the world the same She is a Cold War in my head And I am East Berlin On the danger side of parts unknown Coffee and cyanide for lovers in disgrace If this is not a test youāve got one foot in the grave Sheās gonna bang her head like 1981 Sheās gonna bang her head like 1981 (So long, farewell) Sheās gonna bang her head like 1981 Sheās gonna bang her head like 1981 Crime, foreman of the time Champagne and party lives God bless the end of times Pain, commies, and cocaine Slam dance in acid rain We live the dream for 15 minutes of fame Sheās gonna bang her head like 1981 Sheās gonna bang her head like 1981 (So long, farewell) Sheās gonna bang her head like 1981 Sheās gonna bang her head like 19812 points

Seems like TADIKM reaching #1 on Rock and Alternative Airplay gave it a boost, huh? Even LMNB gained a few more streams, probably 'cause some people chose to check it out after listening to TADIKM.2 points

TADIKM hit #1 on billboard now we just need LMNB to reach #22 points

I like Oh Love better live than on the album, I think itās very soulful, as is Oh Love which is a good song but a bad single I thought.1 point

was the song not about his own dead father? the lyrics could be from the point of view of his father? maybe they were things he said to him or wrote to him at some point before dying?1 point

I've been thinking about these two clips recently, I really like them. I've gone back to the posts around the time of their original post on here, described as leaks. And as you say they were considered old FOAM demos. These two leaks came soon after the so-called leak of OEB. The posts as that time also state that it's a leftover from FOAM. It's still on Tiktok with a statement 'Unreleased track, is a demo for FOAM'. Yet only some weeks ago it was stated on here that it is in fact a recent recording and nothing to do with FOAM. Of course it's now confirmed thar it is on the new album. So the question is are these two short clips really from FOAM, or are they also something recent, and possibly on the new album?1 point
-
Don't they just mean the track names were leaked? I don't think they're talking about the songs themselves, or the lyrics Though, idk why they said 3-13 instead of 3-15. It wasn't even really reddit or genius that leaked them, they were leaked on music stores and that leak would've made its way to the GD subreddit and Genius.com1 point
-
When I think of metal vocals I think of bands like helmet Pantera early metallica and how would that transition into a weezery style song? Just doesn't add up Now this song sounds like a mash of weezer and Linkin Park especially the chorus1 point

I believe the d tuned song will be on the album but fever and the other one I believe are leaked foam bsides But i find it odd the two other leaked snippets haven't been released in full like one eyed bastard was back in may1 point

The whole market feeds on demand. The equilibrium price is higher than it was 3 years ago, 6 years ago, 10 years ago etc. Spoiler alert: it may level but itās not going down!!! Thatās why itās important to continually have multiple sources of income and invest in the market. Even with little to no knowledge the benefits of inflation itself will create income that mitigates the inflation you see in the marketplace. I get that it hurts us, the customer, the small guy or whatever but weāre also not entitled to having massive experiences on the floor or 100 section. These are massive privileges. And I will say when I finally wanted to pull the trigger to see Green Day live the first time it was during a 5 year break. Be happy they are present and here and that there are almost 60,000 tickets available. Surely there is one in the house that is available and affordable. And if someone cant carry over $120 over 7-8 months for a ticket they have bigger problems than not being able to see the band live. At that point the focus should be on organizing your life and figuring it out. Disagree Rancid is way better than FOB and Weezer. FOB is legit one of the worst bands Iāve ever heard. Thereās nothing special about them. Weezer is ok I like some songs but theyāre too generic for me. Smashing Pumpkins has their own sound and they are a great band. Rancid is punk royalty and their 90s hits align nicely beside Green Dayās older tracks. Outside of Green Day, the only other person to hold grammy awards in the group is Tim Armstrong. Cant wait to hear Matt Freeman rip the Maxwell Murder solo in the stadium. Pete Wentz couldnāt even hold Mattās pick. The costs for hockey arenas is significantly cheaper but the tickets would remain with the same pricing and then hit the secondary market for much much more. The difference between this and the big stadiums is theres no guarantee to get a ticket with the hockey arena situation. With the giant stadiums youāre almost guaranteed a seat somewhere. Did you try to manually drill down into a specific section? I find that works sometimes to break against the algorithms that are set by ticketmaster.1 point

These are the ones I look forward to most. *Strange Days Are Here to Stay - is quite reminiscentāin both tempo and moreāof Basket Case *Goodnight Adeline - merges When I Come Around and the subsequent Armstrongian power ballads *Coma City - has a fantastic, memorable tail, stopping just short of a rock opera *Bobby Sox - It starts with slow voice and accordion-like guitar chords, a bit sloppy. After a couple of rounds, the full band kicks in with a very aggressive sound. Billie Joe himself delivers an almost metal vocal performance in the chorus, very gritty, almost Chester Bennington-like (RIP), something rarely heard from him in the past. The song itself is fun and catchy, with hints of Weezer in its demeanor and arrangement. Father to a Son - The most moving piece of the album. It relies on a very acoustic accompaniment (acoustic guitar, piano, strings) and non-trivial harmonic progressions. The almost Beatlesque string section repeats a beautiful ostinato. And Rob asks: 'Are you ready to make rock and roll history again?'1 point
