  1. What I wish they would do is sell all pit tickets at the base price and make the VIP packages an optional add on instead of removing so many tickets and making them unavailable to buy any other way.

  2. I love how GD does small shows, just like apperaring at a pub tonight? I dont know many bands as big as them that does like this. These guys just love playing music like no other!

  3. A regular ticket is expensive and a platinum ticket is more expensive but for the same thing.

  4. The reviews seems to be “Green Day sound with some cool additions” which sounds perfect. I’m expecting a solid album. Nothing to the level of AI and 21CB in theme or execution, but just well-thought-out songs and classic GD sound.

  5. Can someone please explain to me why GA/pit tickets cost like $400?? Like, what the fuck? I did not buy a pit ticket because of that. I instead got a seat that is a couple sections from the pit and I will check on prices closer to the show to see if things are more reasonable by then. I've never been in the pit for a Green Day concert and I was really looking forward to doing that this time. Ticketmaster can seriously die in a fire. Hardly any of the ticket price goes to the actual artist anyway because Ticketmaster is a greedy monopoly that pockets nearly everything for itself and screws fans and performers out of their money. This corporation is seriously evil. It's legalized scalping. I remember that my first Green Day show cost $50. Anyway... I'll stop now. I just had to get that out.

  7. I agree that 'The whole FOAMF sound is more down to Billie than Butch'.

  8. The fact that it’s written as ‘Saviors’ definitely makes me think it’s sarcastic/the saviors aren’t actually saving anything.

  9. I'm so hyped for this album. Really looking foward to all songs, even that reviewer describing the song 'saviors' as 'unremarkable' made me even more curious about it lol Really curious about bobby sox and the screaming, coma city and its dystopian vision, dilemma, goodnight adeline, father to a son... some really personal stuff. apparentely billie is not trying to avoid anything here. Another thing is that second 1972 teaser is probably "suzie chapstick" cause match with the description... the first appearance of an acoustic guitar on the album was reported in the this piece here. Maybe this album will make some interesting additions in the green day catalog and it will be its own thing.

  10. I concur that the source indeed seems legit. I'm not much the wiser having read through the descriptions though. Well, perhaps a tiny bit, but as others have already pointed out, I think subjectivity plays a huge role in describing music. For instance, the writer mentions "American Idiot" vibes in relation to LMNB, something that I personally cannot relate to at all. So, whilst I believe the source to be legit, it has luckily neither raised nor lowered my own expectations, because it's still very difficult to make a mental picture of what the songs will sound like to my own ears. One thing does seems rather clear to me though and at this point I'm even willing to put money on it: OEB will sound very similar to the version that we have already heard. Not identical perhaps, I will concede, but very similar. For one thing, the riff appears to be the same, at least, it fits perfectly with the writer's description, and so too does the rest of the song. I never believed they would change it and now I definitely don't see them doing that. So I would not expect any big surprises/changes for that song.

  11. I think he may always write about addiction, perhaps not regularly, but it’s something he has to deal with. I agree that he looks happy and healthy right now, long may that continue.

  12. Lmfao we had an insider (Sanity Loan) less than a week ago say he heard the song Saviors was "very very good." And now we got this guy from billboard italy saying its the only unremarkable song. Well which is it?

  13. I love reviews like this as teases. Reminds me of the a magazine in 2009 (can’t remember the name but I still have it somewhere) that did a listen to the first half of 21CB and wrote up descriptions. I remember buying that magazine issue just for that and getting hyped.

  14. There’s no way I go to this without pit tickets. I was in there for hella mega and it felt like being up front for the old shows. If I’m gonna pay hundreds for tickets then I’m gonna be as close as possible. Hella mega was great! I do think Rancid and Pumpkins are a huge upgrade (at least for my tastes) to the hella mega bands. Hopefully no more rock and roll all night. Just rock and roll some of the night and party every other day! good luck to everyone finding the best deal for you and your friends and families today!

  15. Am i the only one who would much rather prefer Are We The Waiting/St. Jimmy, rather than Brain Stew/St. Jimmy?

  16. at the risk of sounding 'boomer-y' or something.. having seen both scenes play out, i'd much prefer to go back to the model where you had to be a brave motherfucker to go in the pit (of any show) instead of a rich one..

  17. Looks like the point of presales from TM's perspective is to get the diehards in the door first and force them to spend the most money because they're desperate.

  18. For about two seconds I had an option for just a non-VIP pit ticket in Cincy and before I could process it was real it was gone.

  22. I mean, he was very open about the fact that he was drinking again during the FOAM era. In interviews he was basically like “I’m not sober anymore but I’m fine, let the good times roll!” He was also very drunk at a number of side project shows. I actually took a break from them during that time because it just seemed like things weren’t…great. But I’ve noticed in recent months that he appears to be sticking to non-alcoholic stuff and that makes me really happy. I know, he’s a grown man and I don’t know him and it’s his business, but I just really enjoy seeing him clear and sharp and healthy, and he seems like all those things right now. TL;DR I’m not surprised he’s talking about struggling with addiction on this album due to the vibes surrounding FOAM, but I’m also not presently worried about it because he seems to be doing well.

  23. I think it's not doing that bad, considering lack of interviews(like Rolling Stone,Kerrang,NME...), Tv Show Performances&Interviews etc.

  24. Y'know I knew things were too good to be true when they released new music that was actually decent. Things were going too well!
    3 points
  25. True. They also inserted fake audience cheering for the last chorus of I Was A Teenage Teenager. Imagine actually putting that cheering in when you just made the worst song of your career.

  26. I figured the whole "Saviors" concept was gonna be similar to the "Heroes & Cons" and refer to the politicians and powerful people who would be portrayed as heroes/saviors but are actually just conmen. But since the album is apparently not going to be as political as 21CB was, it might make more sense as being the saviors of rock. Idk how I feel about that. As much as I love their music, I think it maybe makes them look a bit egotistical to imply they're going to singlehandedly save rock & roll

  27. Looks like they are playing a surprise gig in a London pub tonight, had hoped they were filming some appearances while here. It’s been years since they were on with Jools Holland for instance.

  29. Record of the week on Radio X in Uk. https://www.tumblr.com/thisisjoy/733527118953234432 this may matter more than it appears at first. Radio X are giving away tix for tomorrow night’s show and their interview with Green Day for a Revrad was one of the best I thought. Chris Moyles is an ass but it was hilarious so am hoping they are going to involved in promo again.

  32. Totally agree. I don’t pay attention to any album or band comparisons, because we all hear different things. I seem to remember a music journalist comparing 21CB to Africa by Toto, lol. Even amongst fans, we hear things so differently — I’ve seen TADIKM be compared to 21CB, RevRad, and the trilogy, which to me are three pretty distinct vibes. And lyrics, too — lyrics always sound so weird out of context. You don’t know how they’re framed by the other lines around them or in what way they’re sung, so it just doesn’t mean much.

  33. Yup. I think The Cure showed that artists can step in and have a say over things like dynamic pricing and vip. It doesn't seem like green day did dynamic pricing but I guess they're fine about vip platinum seats 🙄

  34. Ticketmaster sucks. But NGL Green Day can suck my ass too because ticket prices is not all because of ticketmaster.

  35. It’s a little interesting to read the explanation but honestly, I just read and dismiss as I’ve never yet read one of these articles and then heard what they’ve written in the music. Fine to quite little bits of lyrics but again, mic they are out of context what’s the point?

  36. These are the ones I look forward to most. *Strange Days Are Here to Stay - is quite reminiscent—in both tempo and more—of Basket Case *Goodnight Adeline - merges When I Come Around and the subsequent Armstrongian power ballads *Coma City - has a fantastic, memorable tail, stopping just short of a rock opera *Bobby Sox - It starts with slow voice and accordion-like guitar chords, a bit sloppy. After a couple of rounds, the full band kicks in with a very aggressive sound. Billie Joe himself delivers an almost metal vocal performance in the chorus, very gritty, almost Chester Bennington-like (RIP), something rarely heard from him in the past. The song itself is fun and catchy, with hints of Weezer in its demeanor and arrangement. Father to a Son - The most moving piece of the album. It relies on a very acoustic accompaniment (acoustic guitar, piano, strings) and non-trivial harmonic progressions. The almost Beatlesque string section repeats a beautiful ostinato. And Rob asks: 'Are you ready to make rock and roll history again?'

  37. I love Whatsername and I can imagine how epic that would sound in the stadium!

  38. I'm really excited about the music contained within. I'm not picky when it comes to Green Day music. I've been known to even listen to Haushinka from time to time (GASP!) But one thing I AM picky about is album art. I think most of their album covers (and most of everyone elses) stink and this one yet another stinker.

  39. Aaaaaah TicketMaster 🥰 what an amazing piece of shit website and a bunch of motherfucker assholes soab it's so fun to have an hundred error before being able to reach the tickets page. The queue system is broken as fuck and when you finally reach for some tickets why not add some more fees that make No. FUCKING. Sense.

  40. Is nobody talking about them plating Whatsername last night?? They seem to be trying out/rehearsing all sorts of things but this is one of most beloved songs ever, I don’t know how I’ll cope if they play it at my shows.

  41. Slightly concerning how many references there appear to be to addiction. I like a lot of the lyrics they highlighted, especially on Bobby Sox

  42. I think one of my favourite things about Green Day was how “accessible” they were. I genuinely always felt they were a band with a special connection with their fans. This whole ordeal is just so disappointing.

  43. My take on FOAM is that it was time for them to put out another Green Day album, but they weren’t yet in the mood to be Green Day again. We know they like to experiment with different personas and sounds in their downtime, and that’s what this felt like to me…they made a decidedly un-Green Day kind of album because they weren’t back in the Green Day mindset. I don’t believe they’d ever put out an album they didn’t genuinely stand behind, because they take pride in their work. But I do think, just based on the cover art and some of the interviews surrounding it, that they felt a bit salty about having to step back into Green Day mode perhaps before they were ready. Personally, I think this album would be fine as a side project but just wasn’t up to standard as a Green Day album. I also was very put off by the too-unironic-for-comfort “sex, drugs, and rock n roll” theme. That’s not this band’s identity to me at all.

  44. They could have mentioned a lyric, a guitar lick, a drum beat. But no. Nothing. There's absolutely nothing to be said about it. Guess this person isn't a GDC user, haha. Maybe Green Day told them to tell no one about what they heard. Hey, Saviors is so good, nobody can know until release day.

  45. Tried the Live Nation sale today just for shits and giggles. Still no pit. And it's fucking pissing me off that they default you to the $700 VIP option when you click it, even though a cheaper VIP is available. It's so predatory and slimy.

  49. My sister got us tickets for Wembley (at the front) Pricey but only concerts we go to are Green Day once every couple years and we've been to some bargain ones in the past so it's not that bad. Last time seeing them there in 2010 was amazing so can't wait! Also there's a brick somewhere on "Wembley Way" that commemorates that show and GDC that a lot of us clubbed together to buy back in the day (at the time you could pay to have a brick there inscribed with a message). No idea where it is but nice to know it's there.

  50. Does anybody know about the details of the Look Ma video? I'm curious whether they rented a backline for the shoot given that Mike hasn't used Ampeg amps since the Insomniac era. Billie's have all had the Marshall logo removed too
