Listened to this song this morning and it's starting to click with me. Was really feeling the hook! Seems like it gets better the more I hear it.6 points

I also gotta say he's been looking pretty cute with the blonde do š„°5 points

While of course we still don't know the overall quality of Saviors, I think it's safe to say that the record increases the quality of their setlist. I think the addition of TADIKM, LMNB and 1981 elevates their concerts. I know 1981 is not a favourite of this forum (yet?), but I really like that song. It's just fun and cute, perfect for its length imo. Really looking forward for the album!5 points

TADIKM is moving up the rock chartās should be number one on some charts by next week5 points

It's live the studio version will still be superior and no one is forcing you to listen to them5 points

I don't understand why it's even a question whether we'll get a new version of OEB? The version of OEB we have sounds nothing like the songs that have already released. It's for sure not something that Cavallo had anything to do with. Even if the instrumentation is the same, the production will for sure be different to be more in line with the songs we've already heard4 points

It's also on Adult Alternative Airplay this week at 34.4 points

Thereās little fills in there that we arent hearing in the live versions which is expected because these shows arent meant to be recorded by shouting fans with iphones. Then thereās also the expectation. The 21cb effect is real, people are expecting this grandiose songwriting and consistent epics to be delivered. At the same time if they go down that road then they are criticized for ignoring their roots. So far I like the tunes. They are fun and fast and sound like Green Day. I think there will be a mix of all types of GD eras and sounds on here but thereās potential for it to pack a harder punch than Rev Rad.4 points

To this day I still don't understand all the negative comments on this forum regarding this album! Comments such as 'Poor Production', 'terrible mixing', 'immature lyrics', 'songs are too short', 'half-baked concept' and 'Butch Walker ruined it' make me scratch my head with confusion! I LOVE this album, and it has been on steady rotation for the last 3 years. I can listen to this album from front to back. The only song I routinely skip is Junkies on a High (which is still pretty good) . For me, the production and mixing is executed very well. The guitar tones are probably the best they've been. Billie seems to really have found something that is somewhat of his new style. The mix is amazing when you listen on headphones.. its a trip. This album, combined with the Trilogy are probably 90% of the Green Day I listen to now, and thats coming from a fan of 30 years! On a side note... Look Ma, No Brains is easily a trilogy/Foam style song.. everything from the Mix, Lyrics and guitar Tone. So I'm looking forward to seeing more of this style in the upcoming album!4 points

I can't get over how good Billie looks in the LMNB video! Blonde hair has never been my favorite on him but I'm liking it more and more these days4 points
-
I like it. I'm not head over heels for it, but I do like it. Billie does some very nice things with his vocals on this song. I don't expect every one on the album to be a masterpiece, because that's just unreasonable. But 1981 is by no means a bad song. It's enjoyable and catchy and there's nothing wrong with being just that.4 points

Calling all insiders: Do you have any additional information that you can disclose to us or even some hints that you can madden us with? Or want to share your story about previous information? We still care how you found out! Now that Saviors and it's song titles are out of the bag, I think we can all let the cats meow a little bit.4 points

Honestly, even though I don't particularly dislike Fantano, I just can't take anything of what he says about Green Day seriously, because he's basically a caricature of a 35 year old Dookie fan. Even in this video, it's quite amazing to see him admitting that he hasn't revisited their discography for this tier list and is just going by his personal biases at the time. He talks about how many hidden gems there are in Kerplunk that are hindered by the production, and says that he usually likes low-fi production, but not on this one particularly, for no reason. Talks about how Dookie marked his childhood and how it felt like a breath of fresh air at the time, but doesn't even go deeper on the topics and lyrics, and how revolutionary they were at the time for the mainstream, like he just remembers them as catchy bangers. Then later shits on Insomniac for being basic, says the bass and guitar chords and drum beats are forgettable and the writing is bland, even though the exact opposite is usually said by purists (that's how you can really tell his age by this time). With Nimrod, he talks about it being great because it combined their catchiness with a more mature approach (which I totally agree). Then he calls Warning a step too far from pop-punk and almost a power-pop project, which by his standards is a Bad Thing. When we get to American Idiot, he talks about how during this year he was into underground punk, and by comparison, the album is politically shallow and gimmicky, completely overlooking how the political points are just a backdrop and how narratively Jesus of Suburbia is a reflection of aimless teenage rebellion, and by the end of the album he is called out as a loser without a cause in tracks like Letterbomb and Homecoming (again, you can tell his age by his comments in this record). 21CB comes in, and of course he absolutely hates it, because it doubles down on the "pretentiousness" and takes out all the fun "redeemable" aspects of the band. It gets reaaaaally funny when he talks about the Trilogy being a sort of "return to form" to what he expects of Green Day: catchy, silly tunes. I mean, I'm a huge trilogy apologist, but it says a lot of what he thinks of the band that he goes to bat for this particular project, and even goes as far as saying it should have a critical reassesment. Then it gets boring again with him complaining about RevRad being boring and FOAM being the worst thing that has ever happened to humanity since the atomic bomb, basically. So yeah, pretty predictable, not very insightful since he's only talking from what he remembers from each album, which is not a lot, and overall a low hanging fruit review of the band imo4 points

I liked it at first listen and still like it. Would I put it in the top half of their discography? No, but I still listen to tracks off of it regularly. I've said it a million times, but I still want to hear one of Billie's bands play TTMAC live. And I love IWATT.3 points

So this album really hasn't leaked yet? Damn. We are just over 2 months from release and this thing has been pressed and done for a bit...so where the hell is it? Somebody somewhere needs to take one for the team.3 points

Still not a huge fan of this song. Seems like filler. Luckily only 2 mins of filler. Odd they seem to like it so much, which worries me about the quality of the rest of the songs.3 points

https://youtube.com/shorts/d7jlF3Hze8g?si=0wxL0tyZ4XO9qEMH so I believe this is "goodnight adeline" and it was originally track 2 on the ep they recorded at rak studios but they switched it to track 7 as it expanded into a full album and decided a more energetic song like look ma no brains would be better in the number 2 slot2 points

This is quite a stretch. The numbers are just the order they put out the teasers in, and 1981 coincidentally lines up.2 points

The reason they didn't play FOAMF live at all is because of Covid, and the fact that when they did return they had a Greatest Hits tour to do and since the album was over a year old at that point, there wasn't really the need to play new songs. But if it weren't for Covid, I'm sure they probably would've at least had a few performances of FOAMF songs during Hella Mega. The fact that they've played Father of All twice lately and Graffitia is an indicator that they do like it. It may not be their favourite album but they like it. At least Billie for sure likes it. Billie is not the kind of person to make a bad album just to screw with the label. He absolutely cares about his music too much to do that2 points

How do you clean out your blender after that? I mean, you've blended enough copies of nimrod to be an expert by now, right? š2 points

They also may not be there anymore. Lots of parts get recorded and then not included in the final mix. The Otis mixed included little parts that weren't on the album. I hope they're in there though, they sound tasty.2 points

I mean the dates aren't wrong. It's just those dates are the official release of the song as a single but if you look at the lyric videos for SB and RR on YouTube and check the release date, you'll see that they were released before the album. I think it was pretty odd for the band to basically have 2 releases of the songs. Idk of any other songs that has happened for Idk if post-album singles are really much of a thing anymore. At most, I think you generally see a single release on the day of or just after the album release. Idk if it's really even a thing anymore that a single from an album will release like 4+ months after an album. Maybe for really successful albums2 points
-
The band released Bang Bang, Revolution Radio & Still Breathing before the album released. SB and RevRad weren't officially released as singles until later when they got music videos but the lyric videos for those songs were released before the album was released So since the last 3 projects (FOAMF, RevRad, trilogy) released 3 songs before the album, I'd say it's most likely we at least get a 3rd song before the album releases in January2 points
-
I still like it to this day, even if I think about the hard pandemic years when I listen. But it's a good album2 points
-
The song structure is too simple though. Not complaining or saying it's bad or mediocre, it's just that I wish every song on this album was better than "just" good. But I like the backing vocals during the chorus, something we couldn't hear in the other live performance. It makes the chorus stand out a little bit more. They remind me a lot of the backing vocals at the end of Monkey Wrench.2 points

Agreed. Listening to the tease again, and knowing the song, I can hear Billie Joe singing the lyrics. It really feels a lot heavier. Love the song. Definitely not a filler.2 points

I saw The Hives last night and let me just say everyone in Europe/UK are lucky ducks! They fucking killed it on stage and I'm so jealous they're touring with Green day over there. If you're going to those shows and haven't seen The Hives before you are in for a treat. Trust me.2 points
-
I still like the album but admittedly it's not one I revisit a whole lot. But when songs like TTMAC or MMOT come up in my shuffle I'm always like these songs slap!! And I have the unpopular opinion that Oh Yeah is good! It was one of my favorite singles. Not their best but I like it.2 points
-
Listened to the new performance of 1981 and it's still just a fine song to me. I'm hoping it'll click more with me when it's officially released. It's not bad but there's very little about it that grips me.2 points
-
Yeah, it's definitely not a bad song at all, but it kinda feels like they've written better versions of this same song before. Nothing wrong with that I guess, but I do agree that it's a bit weird that they seem to love it so much.2 points

Sorry, I just don't enjoy this one. Outside of Graffitia & Stab You in the Heart, I don't really enjoy any of the other tracks that much. Everything after Teenage Teenager is ok but the first half is just straight up bad. Teenage Teenager is atrocious. Oh Yeah bores me to death. FRA is just KYE done badly and the title track is a good instrumental track ruined by falsetto Honestly think Sugar Youth is overrated at this point too. Everyone seems to love it just cause it's the track that most resembles a classic Green Day song. But it's kind of uninteresting. It's ok, one of the best songs here, but I don't understand why a lot of people seem to consider it the best song since 21CB, or even since AI in some cases. Like, really? Put it on any good album and it's probably gonna be the worst song on it. Definitely would be the case if it were on Dookie, AI or 21CB imo2 points

Also, to me this song is very much a Ā« the network song Ā» especially the drums partā¦ I wonder if this wasnāt supposed to be on money money part 2 and they say afterwards Ā« this shit should be great for Green Day Ā» and reworked it2 points

That version of 1981 is much better. There seem to be some interesting backing vocals that either weren't in the original live performance or weren't audible in the original2 points
