Thanks this was great! Our first real interview about Saviors. Thank god for Rob Cavallo he recognized what was great and where they needed to push harder like always. Can’t wait for Father To A Son. Interesting comment too that he made about this time focusing more on the quality of the album than the tour. “An album is forever, a tour is one summer” Maybe as opposed to the last cycle where Hella Mega was definitely prioritized over FOAM. He couldn’t sound more excited about having new music out and for everyone to hear the album and that feels really good. And it wouldn’t be a Mike Dirnt interview without him saying “firing on all cylinders” and he did not disappoint 😂14 points

I think the biggest issue the band constantly faces is, a lot of the community always expect an album full of "epic" songs when in reality you can only write what you can write and are inspired to write. Look Ma is a super catchy song which will feature heavily in the rotation for mine but we have been SOOOOOOO blessed with such a large catalogue of songs which I think can be overlooked at times.12 points

I really like this song, great to read some comments on Facebook/YouTube from casual fans - ,that this is the green day we know, this is the green day we love.' It's really heart warming. All we remember reactions over foam/oh yeah.11 points

Isn't it great that we have two singles now which attract two different kind of Green Day listeners? That's perfect for the fanbase I think11 points

I'm over here waiting like Look Ma, No Patience!10 points

Why people are still doing this kinds of comparisons? The bands are not competing to show who is better and they're completely different bands sonically Just enjoy we are still getting good music from them8 points

Gotta say this song is everything I love about Green Day. Also love love love the video, feels very classic gd8 points

If the album is out in Jan and the first show of this tour isn't until May, I am really holding out hope there will be some spring club shows. Please...8 points

oh wow the music video is like a throwback to the basket case one a little huh? might be reaching with that actually, but someone tell me they can see the "resemblance"8 points

Loving the Don't Panic, Dont Panic part of the song. It's pretty much my everyday mantra 🤣7 points

I wasn't really into "TADIKM" and was kinda worried I might not like the new stuff, then within the first 10 seconds of "Look Ma, No Brains" I was dragged back in. God I love Green Day.7 points

DISAPPOINTED. Baseball stadiums again 😩 that's not how I want to experience Green Day. At least give me a normal arena. I really do wanna see the boys again so I'll at least check out tickets to see the price. Otherwise I may wait and do stub hub day of to get cheaper tickets. But I'm tired of the package tours and the stadium nonsense.7 points

Super stripped back budget music vid. Probably shot in a day. End section reminds me of the strobing section in the American Idiot video. This song isn't anywhere as strong as TADIKM, though. Slightly strange choice for a single IMO. Said it before, but it feels like a mid-album track rather than track 2 and a single. Hope it'll grow on me.7 points
-
😂 FALSE! My concern is they won't actually play those, but just the usual Dookie/AI hits. Baseball stadiums with a crammed lineup again feels Hella Mega to me. Wish they would just tour with one opener like they used to. I'm still excited, just not thrilled with what seems like shorter sets because of so many acts on the lineup.7 points

Great podcast coolest Rick station ever or something had a interview with Mike Dirnt half hour he explains recording in London and USA, why they went with Rob to produce how proud of the record they are and again mentions that father to son is a special song Cavallo pushed them to make and talked about his adoption and a lot of personal things so great interview and i think father to son is definitely going to hit hard and definitely is a single.7 points

Although 21CB is my favourite album, I would not recommend Billie to put himself back into an unhealthy situation just so he can make better music if the result is potentially harmful. He can make fantastic music without putting himself in that kind of situation, I'm sure of it. Considering 21CB wasn't even that successful of an album commercially or critically or among a lot of their fans, I doubt he'd even consider it to be worth putting that kind of pressure on himself 30+ years in their career, almost 20 years since their last smash hit album. Green Day already have so many great albums. Even if they never have a truly groundbreaking album ever again, ik that there is so much already existing material that I will want to continue going back to. Any good releases in the future are just a bonus for me at this point6 points

Spotify streams for TADIKM Day 1 - 248k Day 2 - 487k (+239k) Day 3 - 663k (+176k) Day 4 - 1,078k (+415k) Day 5 - 1,313k (+235k) Day 6 - 1,495k (+182k) Day 7 - 1,718k (+223k) Day 8 - 1,911k (+193k) Day 9 - 2,085k (+174k) A new low for the single but only slightly. Still a consistent performance since its release. Look Ma, No Brains spotify streams hasn't yet updated as it hasn't been a full day since its spotify release but I will post an update on both songs when it does6 points

First listen impressions: Instantly got some Maria vibes at the beginning of the song, followed by Nimrod vibes, followed by Trilogy vibes, specifically Ashley with the tiniest bit of Insomniac sprinkled throughout. I love the sound and I like the song. Just like TADIKM, I think this one does quite a lot in it's short running time and I think it will take a few more listens for it to really grow on me. I was really surprised by how long it took before I heard the main chorus and then how quickly it came back again and then just finished but I do think it's really awesome that some of these songs seem to be switching up traditional song structures for something a bit more unexpected.5 points

LMNB is the kind of song Billie can write in his sleep these days, but that doesn't make it bad or simple. He's just gotten so good at the two minute power pop song and yes it's very Longshot and that's what I love about it. I still think the Longshot songs should have been Green Day songs and this is a good example of what that would have sounded like.5 points

there are a couple of ongs on the new blink record that are better than this LMNB5 points

Not all songs need to be epic. I think finally having a modern song that actually sounds reminiscent of 90s Green Day is pretty dope. And I wouldn't say it's "standard GD" either, as we haven't heard that kind of sound in over 20 years.5 points

I like the song. It’s not as good as TADIKM, but it doesn’t have to be. It‘s fun and catchy and has old-school Green Day vibes. Confirms my theory that this album will cover different styles of Green Day‘s career. I think it’s meant to promote the tour and create more hype for the new album. TADIKM is still the lead single and I’m sure it’ll get more airplay and will be promoted more. But people’s attention spans are just super short these days. Like I mentioned before, Blink released 6 songs before the album came out, that’s just the way music works these days. We’ll probably get more singles before January, but I’ll only listen to one more new song.4 points

The video takes Basketcase lookiing Billie and then does the strobelight thing from American Idiot. Oh and since we keep taking Beatles, Green Day are stomping all over them in terms of views at the moment. I'm sure that will even out a little after some time passes but way to go, Green Day!4 points

I think it's partly because they wanted a new song to announce the tour with, and also those 7" promotional records they gave out had this as a B-side. I doubt it'll be such a quick turnover for the next single.4 points

Quite disappointed with the European stadium dates. Hoping for a winter leg in arenas.4 points

I like the song! Not as much as TADIKM but it's not bad. I don't think it's a banger but it's something that I'll like more as I hear it. I do love the video. It's simple but the way it's shot reminds me of early punk videos and even Green Day's old videos like Stuck With Me.4 points

Okay, my BF and I are going to do Seattle. He's never seen them before so this actually might be a great show for him as a casual fan. Just going to aim for seats and then save my money for some hopeful club shows in the spring.4 points
