Still not tired of this song. Been stuck in my head since the first live performance video. Studio version has been on repeat since it was released. Biggest earworm of theirs in quite a while.10 points

Minor correction, but it really isn't falsetto other than for about 10-15% of that section. He actually sings it in his mixed voice on the album track. Live, he has been leaning more towards falsetto because it is much more difficult to control your mixed voice in that setting. As far as Billie's shift in the appearance of his pitch (sounding like it has more depth back in 04), this really is due to him working on finding proper vocal placement to be able to not only hit the notes, but also stay on pitch. If he has been working with a vocal coach (or even if he just remembers a lot of what he learned doing AI on Bway), I can assure you that he is adjusting his vocal placement so that he doesn't blow out his voice. As somebody that does a good amount of musical theatre and has fronted bands, it isn't easy. The way I have had to shift my singing from only 5 years ago is pretty remarkable. If something is painful or you are having to strain, you are doing it wrong or it is simply out of your current range. It really is that easy. Fixing it, on the other hand, not so easy and takes work. I am amazed at how good Billie still sounds live (and I saw them at the Thursday Freemont CC show as well as WWWY). The work he has put in/is putting in is definitely working. Yes, he sounds different than he did 20 years ago. He's 20 years older. That shit happens. I can tell you that 75% of the acts at WWWY wish they could still sing their old music the way Billie can rock out GD's catalogue.7 points

Green Day should send the guy on the cover an autographed copy of the record!6 points

I would like Billie to wear more eyeliner. I feel like sometimes he just doesn't, and when he does it is very lightly applied. I miss our raccoon prince!5 points

I've always been impressed with how good Billie still sounds. Different than he sounded when he was 22, sure, but A. he's older and B. he's singing different parts now, for lack of a better term. Even someone younger like Matt Bellamy has had his vocals go downward faster than Billie has. And then look at someone like Stevie Nicks, who totally blew her voice out in only a few years, both due to daily singing and substances. Billie's also had a couple of vocal changes, one from Warning to AI when he started sounding less congested, and then AI to 21CB when his voice got higher. All of which works.5 points

Reviewers like Fantano piss me off because it's clear you don't like Green Day at all. That's fine! So why the hell do you keep talking about their music? It's just for views and to get people worked up. As someone who writes about music, I'm not going to bother with an album by an artist I already know I don't like. Because why? I already know it's not for me. To me it's the equivalent of folks who go on music videos of bands they don't like and say "lawl this band sucks." Okay? Why did you click on the video? Spend your time checking out something you are genuinely interested in.5 points

I honestly think they should've used his real image it would've been better than the photo shopped cover paul seems like a genuine person I hope green day does something special for him and his family when they play a show in Ireland4 points

I love snarly, angry Billie too. Slightly odd, does he actually realise it’s not him anymore and secondly HOW THE HELL HAS HE NEVER HEARD OF GREEN DAY! Has the man been living in a cave!4 points
-
That was really hard to watch. He drummed for them for a year as young teens under several different names including Sweet Children. He was long gone before they became Green Day and way before they ever got booked at Gilman or played any real gigs. But to hear him say it, he was GrEeN DaY’s FiRsT DrUmMeR! He even had the delusional nerve to downplay John Kiffmeyer and go, “Yeah, he drummed with them for just a short time and that was it.” No man, that’s YOU. John is literally the drummer on the first two Green Day EPs and first album. He was the first drummer in the band called Green Day, not you. What exactly does he want credit for? Playing drums in Billie’s living room with them when they were 15? Sit down dude, you’re embarrassing yourself 🙄4 points

Agree about how much fun they look like they're having. People spoke a lot during FOAM about it being the music the guys wanted to make, I wasn't quite sure then with things like Oh Yeah but a song called 'Look Ma, No Brains'?? That's just got the heart of Green Day written all over it.3 points

They should put Raj's face on Tre the album and promote it now. 8th Avenue Serenade as a single. New videos for X Kid, 99 Revolutions and the Forgotten. And a new song called Know 99 Coffees with Raj on lead vocals.3 points

He lives in Manchester now 😂 also he’d never even heard of Green Day but gave them a listen and liked what he heard. At least they’ve gained a fan from that cover lol3 points

We gotta get the ninja eyeliner squad back in action! It's our duty as Fangirls!3 points

Haha yeah, Blood Rage and Desecrated Youth. You don’t hear Shaun Hughes ranting about being an original member of Green Day (clue: he wasn’t either), because he’s a cool low key guy who’s still friends with them as opposed to Raj who basically admitted he only contacts them now when he wants tickets or free passes to something. Notice how cagey he was when the interviewer asked him how long he played with “Green Day”. Totally dodged the question including why he left. He left because he was never their permanent drummer and never wanted to be. He filled in whenever they needed a drummer but didn’t even consider himself a band member (this according to the many times Billie has talked about their history). They didn’t have a permanent drummer until John. Oh and I forgot the part where he eye rolls and implies that it was some sort of conspiracy that their early recordings with him were lost. Like someone was deliberately trying to erase his history at 15 😂 You’re not that important man. They’ve lost bigger recordings than yours 😂😂😂3 points

Blood Rage 2025. We gotta get Shaun Hughes back too. Billie, Raj and Shaun. It's gonna be like blink. Billie's going to realize you need the og's to recreate the magic. Oh yeah!3 points

I think the paedophile line is clear. He’s saying that American’s (or many of them) have an unhealthy relationship with their unrelenting belief in the American Dream.3 points

I love TADIKM but I'm also an absolute sucker for 2004 Billie vocals. They just gave the songs more... idk... weight? As for why his voice changed, I suppose that's just ageing tbh. He sounds different live as well, if you compare live performances from then and in later years, it's quite noticeable. That's why I'm also a sucker for 2000-2005 live performances. But yeah, some people's voices just get deeper with age, others more high-pitched, some more nasal, others raspier etc. It's usually a combination of genetic and environmental factors. But anyhow, it's not something he or anyone else can control. As it stands, I'm still happy he's able to sing rather well. That's not a given. For instance, I love Dave Grohl and adore the Foos, but in recent years hearing that guy desperately and rather forcefully trying to extract the same strength of voice as in previous years is just kinda sad. Billie sometimes struggles, yes, but for a guy in his 50s with a past of severe alcohol (and substance) abuse he's doing pretty well all things considered. We can't turn back time, so let's just savour the present3 points

They would only have done the video. One night is not long at all for a video with that many extras, sets and makeup. I hope we get another video but it may be either a lyric video or something simpler3 points

This line is one of my favorites in the song. Also hits home as I’ve seen my local community full of classic houses and history get bulldozed when rich people decide to move in, tear down these beautiful old homes, and build a new McMansion. It’s a trend in America.3 points
-
Anyway anyway the song....it's great 😃 it doesn't top Bang Bang for me but definitely one of the best lead singles in the past few years. Way better than FOA and Oh Love.3 points
-
I take that line as people will throw their morals down the sewer drain to achieve the 'American Dream.'3 points

Am I missing something? Why do people care so much what seemingly endless amounts of random YouTubers say about the songs? Opinions are like arseholes and all that...3 points

I still don’t get the hate for the TikTok line. Sure, it’s not subtle, but he’s not singing it from his perspective but from a conservative one. Also, TikTok is a massive cultural phenomenon that is here to stay. It’s not just going to go away like MySpace or something like that. And even if you dislike the line, that doesn’t make the song bad. Turning from “I like this“ to “this is terrible“ just because of one line of lyrics is honestly kind of immature.3 points

SP seems to be out for Europe, could be Rancid for the european Leg But I‘ve seen Donots and their Singer liking their newer post. For the german shows would be awesome to see them together again like 2010. their singer booked one of their first shows in germany back then2 points

I know why Raj left. He looks too much like Mike Dirnt and you can't have two guys that look alike, especially in a trio. All about looks, very sad. Raj, John and Sean should form a band called John's Green Day or Raj's Green Day, etc. But I bet they are all too busy in The Network, pretending to be Green Day pretending to be the Network! That's why Raj mentioned a missing album....2 points

Yeah I just really like the two neon colors together but we’ll see how closely the final product resembles the mock up.2 points

To me, it sounds like he sings about political issues that conservatives often talk about, namely immigration, taxes and social media. If I remember this correctly, there were actually some Republicans who wanted to ban the app in the United States. I believe that’s what he is referring to, but of course you can also read it as an implicit criticism of social media as a whole. You’re right though, if someone just hears this line without paying attention to the rest of the lyrics, it comes across as kind of lazy. I just don’t think it’s as embarrassing as some people are claiming. Also, the songs is now up to 1,494.797 streams on Spotify.2 points

Imagine that a picture of you is used almost 45 years later by one of the biggest bands in the world. Of course he is gonna buy the album where his face is featuring😆2 points

Yes indeed. I mean I still would pay the price, but thats not common for a club show2 points

Thursday can’t come soon enough! So excited to hear the studio version of this song, and the Atmos mix as well considering how good TADIKM sounded2 points

I completely agree. Intentionally shitting on stuff you don't like in front of an audience (whether you genuinely hate it or not) while also trying to be a professional critic just looks extremely unprofessional and absolutely nothing constructive comes out of it. If he knows it's not his cup of tea, then why bother wasting time on it? FOAM is my least favorite GD record by far, but even I still get annoyed when I see people act like it is the worst thing on earth and I know part of that is because of "influencers" like him shitting all over it.2 points

Shit, currently in Spain with friends but live only about a 90 minute flight (though I think maybe the direct flight has gone, may need 2) but only get home late Friday night and am bust Saturday! Damn it 😭😭😭2 points

I don't like how they basically replaced the amazing falsetto part with regular singing, completely butchering what is my favorite part of the song. And I'm not into the fact that someone took their work, modified it with AI, and now some people are saying this is better than what the band is putting out for real. Kinda lame if ya ask me. It is cool only as an exercise of imagining what some songs would sound like if they were made in different eras, but that's about it.2 points
-
I dont know. Thats what you pay for Rammstein FOS but they‘re expensive in general. I‘m sure with 80€. Hella Mega had a little higher price because of the 3 bigger bands Yeah that was brutal. I remember watching germany - france and you could hear the bombs during the game and everyone knew what was going on…2 points

He doesn't have a boss. He can review whatever he wants. Why does he review artists he doesn't get any enjoyment out of? I don't understand why you'd choose to do that?2 points

I've been out the loop the last few months but just here to say damn blond Billie's looking good. All the guys are.2 points

I really like the song and video! Insanely catchy and a genuine return to AI/21st CB style. I can't wait for the album.2 points

Well there's Pop Rocks. I am pretty sure he was talking about the candy, right? He's trying so hard to hate it that it's actually cringe... I do wonder what he actually considers to be "good" music though. Also is it really that difficult to think maybe Billie is not referring to himself or his band when saying "we" in some of his songs, but rather what could be a generalization of Americans or even humanity as a whole?2 points
