Ok so yes now that the cat is FINALLY out of the bag, I was fortunate enough to be an extra in the video and the experience was f**king surreal and incredible all at once. (I don't appear to be readily visible in the video but I need to do a more thorough freeze framing to be sure š ). A few personal highlights: -Arriving at the studio and seeing Tre right away chatting it up with someone in full zombie garb was an amazing preview of things to come -Many of us were in line for makeup as Billie, Mike, and Tre were just getting done with theirs (yes as zombies), and we gave a cheer/round of applause to the boys as they headed back to their dressing room. They seemed appreciative about the reception! -Arriving on set after a couple of hours of being in holding/makeup, I was blown away by the scale of everything. We were all gathered in front of the band's stage waiting for shooting to start, when they started playing TADIKM for the first (of many) times over the loudspeakers. It took me about 5 seconds after the chorus hit to realize "oh yes our boys are definitely back" and eventually many fans/extras were singing it in between takes. I also thought (and still think) this should be the tour opener as it fires up a crowd as good as anything. So yeah, it was a super fun experience and really felt like I was in a dream being in this zombie world with Green Day playing a brand new song on stage just in front of us over and over (for those who asked, no other songs were played). And the craft services/catering provided were very nice too!24 points

Imagine the marketing meeting at Warner HQ Billie: "So this is our tracklist" Warner Executive: "oh good, let's run through it" Billie: "Alright so first off we have The American Dream Is Killing Me" Warner Executive: "Great opening title! It's catchy, in your face, memorable... Go on" Billie: "Yeah so next we have Look Ma, No Brains! and Bobby Sox" Warner Exec: "it's old-school, retro, a throwback, I like it" Billie: "Then, One Eyed Bastard, Dilemma, 1981, Goodnight Adeline..." Warner Exec: "very nice, very nice..." Billie: "Coma City, Corvette Summer, Suzie Chapstick, Strange Days Are Here to Stay, Living in the '20s..." Warner Exec: "mmh not so sure about Suzie Cha..." Billie: "Father to a Son" Warner Exec: "ooh really like that, the emotional ballad to hit you right in the feels..." Billie: "Saviors" Warner Exec: "of course, no-brainer" Billie: "and Fancy Sauce" Warner Exec: "wait what"13 points

I have been listening to this all day. Wow. My expectations have not only been met, but surpassed. Even as someone who enjoys FOAM, I had kind of resigned myself to the belief that we would only be getting that style Green Day from now on. Afterall, they really don't have anything to prove anymore. The lyrics are inspired, the production is huge, and the promotion (so far) has been the best since 21CB. This song sounds like a mixture of 21CB and the trilogy to me with a hint of Rev Rad.13 points

Finally really getting to settle in and check out the web and how everyone is vibing to the new tune. All i've got to say is I feel like there is something big here. I feel a wave coming. TADIKM is the absolute PERFECT comeback song for the guys. All of the reactions i've seen so far on YT immediately mention it's catchiness, how easy it is to sing along with, and how phenomenally GREEN DAY it sounds, classic. Truly the more I listen the more i fall in love. The slowdown we get so early on with the strings is beautiful. The shot of Zombie Joe Armstrong is absolutely iconic with the slow-mo zoom. I'm getting similar vibes to My Chemical Romance's 'Welcome To The Black Parade' music video when it shows gerard looking up singing and reaching out his arms to the sky. The solo gives me chills. Watching Billie walking up on the car right before he breaks into his riff is such a poetic moment. FUCK I am hyped!!11 points

Shower thought: TADIKM is like if someone took Fashion Victim, 21st Century Breakdown, and Back in the USA and put them all in a blender and I kinda love it10 points

True. Obviously, their new album wonāt be as successful as AI or Dookie, but thatās mainly because rock music just isnāt as popular as used to be. Itās not part of the mainstream anymore. However, from my subjective perspective, it seems as if this song is getting more positive attention than Father of all did. Itās also more radio friendly than Bang Bang, which might also help. This wonāt become the next American Idiot, but I do believe that the band can gain a little bit momentum and change the narrative around them. Ultimately, commercial success doesnāt really matter anyway. I feel like most of the fans really love the song, which is way more important than chart positions. The video is currently on #8 in the American YouTube trends (#43 here in Germany). Doesnāt sound too bad to me.9 points

Finally! (only mono though) Sounds awesome!!! Can't wait to hear it in stereo though haha9 points

I'm hoping they'll be back on Colbert at some point. Zane Lowe too, he always does good in-depth interviews with them.7 points

I'm also team no jokey Tre songs. I don't mind if it's a secret bonus track but otherwise I'm good.7 points
-
I'm keeping my expectations low, so I don't think it'll blow up or anything. BUT, I do expect it to pick up somewhat from here. As people on here have pointed out, there has not been much medial focus on Green Day releasing anything new, partially due to post-FOAM fan apathy, partially due to the overlapping demographic being more focused on Blink 182's newest release. HOWEVER, I think this is a really good and catchy song and a really good music video too. So, I expect it's going to gain more traction and build some buzz and excitement as it slowly gains more views.7 points

I have a shipment coming tomorrow and I think it's gonna be LMNH because I didn't order anything! My sister have a turntable so I'm guessing I'm gonna have to rip it to mp3 because I'm tired of this video recording quality.7 points

My brother who doesnāt listen to punk or like much Greenday surprised me and said he loves this new song and talk me specific reasons why. Great to hear!6 points

While I donāt expect another 10 minute epic, with such short songs in the mix and the title track being second last, I do expect that Saviors will be the most epic track on the album. At least in the vein of 21stCB or Forever Now, maybe even Dirty Rotten Bastards.6 points

I received my package!! It's so cool because I was looking to have a vinyl of LMNH and instead it's a bunch of clothes for my daughter. Just learned my girlfriend order on Amazon and I wasn't signed up from my account the timing of her order really was perfect with everything. Now it's gonna be a sad wednesday.6 points

I have the same subjective view. I sent the video to two friends who like some of Green Day's music (mostly american idiot or 21CB) but pay no attention to them most of the time. They both really liked it. We'll see I guess. If nothing else, I just feel really happy about being a fan right now.6 points

The production quality of this video, my god it is extraordinary! Such vivid imagery that it took me two initial watches to realize the entire thing is in black and white. I loved the 21CB era not only because of the insanely good music, but also the art style. Iām loving the similar vibe and callbacks: Molotov cocktails, climbing flames, characters standing on cars, graffitiā¦.damn it good to be alive. Or I guess, āaliveā in Green Dayās case. Also, did anyone else see the zombie actor get clocked in neck at 1:32? š6 points

Just want to point out that itās such a genius move for record sales these days what they do. They could print 10,000 copies of a record and maybe sell a fraction of them. Or you print 10 variants limited to 1,000 copies each, same total but they all sell out because youāve built in ārarityā. Scale that up and you can sell 50-100k records that way, all ārareā. Itās a neat trick.5 points

Hahaha! It doesn't even sound like him! How does he do that? Honestly I think he would have looked fine and plenty zombie-ish without the eyebrow ridge prosthetic (and hotter too ). Kinda takes me out of the experience a little bit because he doesn't really look like Billie anymore with it. The neck would was a nice touch, though.5 points

I checked my mail about five times today hoping this vinyl would magically appear, but nothing. Look Ma, No Vinyl! amirite?5 points

It worries me a bit that this was written last. Seems like a spark song that would inspire more, like American Idiot was for that record. Hope this isnāt the best of most inspired song.5 points

It certainly is a fast turnaround but that song came out when we were emerging from the pandemic grateful to be mostly unscathed and appreciating life again. Unfortunately the stresses of that time caused a lot of societal problems to worsen and weāre dealing with those today.5 points

For everyone that needs to see every nook and detail of Billie, here's a version of the video that was uploaded to Apple Music earlier today (with much higher bitrate/quality compared to the YouTube upload.) https://drive.google.com/file/d/12zWbakcNPSMQ_P0qEMsV6j-C6hE_N0wJ/view?pli=15 points

It's actually really interesting how we went from Pollyanna "It's wonderful to be alive" to "The American dream is killing me". Do you think that it was maybe intentional to release this song first partially because of this?5 points

I love it when Billie writes like this, hoping for more like it.5 points
