I’ve been a fan of Green Day since 1994 and a fan of Blink-182 since 1997, and I never understood the comparisons. To me, they play different styles of music. Plus, until recently, I thought of Billie Joe as a deep and serious songwriter, whereas Mark and Tom wrote mostly fun and/or funny songs, give or take a few deep ones.

I can't believe I just read through 4 pages of blink 182 discourse and it somehow ended up getting worse. How do you have less to talk about when we are like two weeks away from new Green Day? Some of you guys seriously need to go touch grass. Or call a fucking therapist. Frankly, you should do both.

October 24th arrives and we wake up to… “TFOAMIKM” - The Father of All Motherfuckers is Killing Me. The artwork is the reused FOAM album art with Horny painting “FUCK YOU” over the entire cover in hot pink. The lead single announced is “Sweet Motherfucking Dream”. It’s using the same guitar riffs as “FUCK TIME” and “STAB YOU IN THE HEART”. The description for the album reads… “NO LONG SONGS, NO FUCKS GIVEN, NO IDENTITY, FEATURING BUTCH WALKER PRODUCING WITH BACKING VOCALS, HOLD ON TO YOUR BUTTS!”

The GreenDay.fm article confirmed it’s a single drop, and I wouldn’t expect anything else but that. They wouldn’t give a three week date just for another announcement

The American Dream is Killing Me, Zombies, One Eyed Bastard…it all starts to make sense.

We are absolutely not getting AI anniversary edition for its 20th. It will either be for its 25th or its 30th like Dookie, although pretty sure Dookie was planned to be in 2019 for its 25th so probably not 30th. We'll almost definitely get one for Warning in 2025 I think.

I'm pretty that's the original demo because the audio quality and ambience or whatever is different than the rest of the songs and Billie sounds younger

They will announce an announcement for an announcement of the first letter of the first word of the album title which will be announced in 51 weeks.

Did we already discuss what exactly we think will be announced on Oct 24? Nobody threw out the possibility of them announcing on Oct 24 that a single will be released another 3 weeks from then right?? lol

I'm so confused by all the blink 182 discourse lol. But I'm so pumped that blink AND green day have new music dropping this month! What a time to be alive!

I remember a few months back, people were posting vague teasers with "saviours" and zombies and stuff. This was around when One Eyed Bastard leaked as well I think. also why are one of the dates scribbled out? hmmm

I'm wondering that too, or whether it's just a seasonal thing. Does anyone know if that specific zombie photo is from any piece of known media or is a stock image online or something? I'll do some digging. Can you imagine if that's the single/album art and it's been staring us in the face this whole time? 😆

Offspring are working on new music but while they say they want a quicker turnaround, 9 years is a shorter wait than last time, lol. But let's not devolve into arguing about which album is their best or if they owe us something. Green Day 14 is nearly upon us and I can't wait to read the track list. I might even listen to the music while I'm at it. I hope that most of us enjoy it, even if that means sacrificing the the things I love from Trilogy and Foam.

Literally the only one being parasocial here is you. Everyone else just sees the band as human beings. You see them as robots who are required to make the music you personally like even though the band don't know you and don't want to make the music you want them to make A much better comparison to the "I’m going to open a pizza shop and serve burned pizza and say “I don’t owe you anything” when customers complain" thing is a pizza place you're a fan of adding something new to the menu and you saying "This restaurant owes me something that I personally like" when there's plenty of other things on the menu for you to choose if you're not a fan of the new item they've added and you're literally just paying for what you've ordered. If you order something from a restaurant, all that they owe you is to provide you with the product (not burnt). You may like it, you may not. But that's what they owe you and that's what they will provide you with if you order it Really funny that you think I'm triggered. I just find it hilarious that people think they are owed music that they personally like. The band don't owe us shit. They can do what they like. If they want to continue making FOAMFs, then fine. I probably won't be into them but that's fine. They're still going to have a ton of fans who will listen to their old and new stuff, that will go see them perform live on tour etc.

A band should always make music for themselves first.

“Band’s job is to please fans”. lol, they’re not a wedding music band hired to play a list of songs agreed with the newlyweds. They are not providing a service to you, they are making art, which you are entitled to not like and not buy. As you are entitled to not be their fan, no one is forcing you to be one, you didn’t sign a contract or payed a fee you cannot get refunded. They have a contract with a record label, not with you. You are entitled to your opinion, but they owe you absolutely nothing, especially when it comes to composing and releasing music. That’s the difference between an artist and an artisan, professions you are clearly confusing and mixing up.

Dear God. if you don’t like an album, don’t buy it. if you don’t like the music don’t listen to it. You can only respect a band (or anyone) that does what it wants and feels driven to do. Many people (yes, I know, sweeping statement) do. It’s called integrity. Some things will appeal to you more than others.

I don't remember the band signing an employment contract with each and every fan meaning they have to deliver on our expectations as employers or else we can just fire them. They don't owe us anything. They do whatever they want and if we're not happy we can just not buy their records and stop listening. That doesn't mean we can't criticize them or voice our opinions and desires, but saying they owe us is extremely entitled.

Here we go with the Blink vs Green Day again. Can we just enjoy both band for godsake we don't care about their sales.

Would be cool, but it is likely next year? With the new album and a tour the band are gonna be well busy. Not to mention 2 more anniversaries to organise for 2025, Insomniac and Warning, 30th & 25th respectively.

It’s not free, it comes out of your paycheck. You pay for it in higher taxes and many people still need supplemental private insurance. Not saying universal healthcare isn’t a great thing but it’s neither perfect nor free

As @Rumpelstiltskin2000 said, he had black hair in Oslo on October 12th 2009 and showed up to Dortmund, Germany on October 14th blonde. Back to black on November 12th in Turin. Stayed black for most of the rest of 2009. Looks like Asia tour he was black and from what I can tell whole Europe# 2 leg. Showed up in NJ on August 3, 2010 blonde and stayed blonde for North American leg #2. August 3 - Sept 4th back to black. So after looking at him blonde and back to black and blonde again, even though I still prefer the black, my favorite blonde look was like at Lollapalooza. Red and black striped pants...the one where he plays snippets of AC/DC, Bon Jovi, etc... I can't believe I just fell down that rabbit hole, but there you have it! 🤣
