The best way I can respectfully respond is to first ask you have you seen the film. 'Turn it Around, The Story of East Bay Punk'. Here is the trailer, Idon't think the full movie is on YouTube. If you haven't you need to watch it. Punk rock starting out at 924 Gilmam Street. It is non-conformist, characterized by short formats, fast tempos, distorted riffs, stripped-down instrumentation, and shouted lyrics. A fuck you attitude. If you loved it, cool. if you didn't well that's your problem. It was a way of life, a community. You became one with GD, their music, and their lyrics, it became your life forever. They owe us absolutely nothing, they don't have to give us fuck all, and no I'm not kissing their arse. And we owe them absolutely everything. Their job, as you put it, which is like no other job, is to play their music when they want to and, in their way, and share it with us when they are good and ready not before. We have no say in the matter. My responsibility is to listen to their music every day and go see them live at every opportunity, total dedication for life. That's the only way I can explain it. I love them so so much, and they have given me everything I ever wanted.

You're right...Blink fans have always been pretty fucking dumb when it comes to what good music is.

I don't remember the band signing an employment contract with each and every fan meaning they have to deliver on our expectations as employers or else we can just fire them. They don't owe us anything. They do whatever they want and if we're not happy we can just not buy their records and stop listening. That doesn't mean we can't criticize them or voice our opinions and desires, but saying they owe us is extremely entitled.

Dear God. if you don’t like an album, don’t buy it. if you don’t like the music don’t listen to it. You can only respect a band (or anyone) that does what it wants and feels driven to do. Many people (yes, I know, sweeping statement) do. It’s called integrity. Some things will appeal to you more than others.

I dont think they owe us shit??? They're just some dudes who like playing music. I think they can make whatever they want, whenever they want. It's also Taylor Swifts job to deliver music, but you don't get mad when she makes something you don't like. They teased 1972 because they most likely felt pressured to "deliver this time," but they probably realized "hey, if we take our time we'll make something better than this." At the end of the day, you're allowed to not like something. People don't owe it to you to make something you enjoy. I enjoyed Father Of All because it was a Green Day album and I was just excited to get new music from the boys, regardless of what it sounds like. I just like hearing new music from my favorite band. If you don't like it you don't have to listen to it, and you definitely don't need to be so negative.

They are not providing a service to you, they are making art, which you are entitled to not like and not buy. As you are entitled to not be their fan, no one is forcing you to be one, you didn’t sign a contract or payed a fee you cannot get refunded. They have a contract with a record label, not with you. You are entitled to your opinion, but they owe you absolutely nothing, especially when it comes to composing and releasing music. That’s the difference between an artist and an artisan, professions you are clearly confusing and mixing up.

Still Pete and Meat live and Hans (Billie's guitar tech) has said they'll never go digital. I think during the trilogy era they dialled back the gain a bit to match those albums and it seems like they've stuck with that since then. For AI stuff onwards with a P90 it sounds fantastic but I do think on stuff from Dookie etc it was definitely a lot more representative of the albums before. If this is an album they're taking seriously I'm sure they'll make sure it sounds as good live as it deserves to 👌

You realise you can listen to the album before you buy it, right? You're not obligated to buy it if you're not satisfied with it The band isn't offering you some essential service that you need in order to stay alive like a doctor would I'm just saying that someone telling you that a band doesn't owe individual fans (all of whom have different tastes in music) anything is not the same as a doctor saying "I don't owe you anything" when their job is literally to help their patients

Since '21st Century Breakdown,' I haven't felt the Green Day sound as rich during live shows. Could it be because they've used different amplifiers since then? So, I really hope they return to this setup for this record.

And everything pre Nimrod of course but I think the 21CB comparison is more apt given the sound of the thing

It depends on what somebody means by "wipe the floor with." If you're talking about strictly sales/fandom, you may have a point. If you are talking about actual quality of music, I'd put GD's largest pile of shit against Blink's best work ANY day of the fucking week.

You may not like it but that's what you're owed and that's what you will get. Listen to the singles, listen to the entire album if you can, before deciding whether to purchase the album. If you purchase the album despite not enjoying what you've heard, then that's your fault. Not the band
