Yeah, I feel like the reason they started releasing chunks of songs from Dookie 30 early and heavily promoted in the lead up to Friday was to get it all out the way/secure preorders and release day orders so that once new album hype comes along and overshadows it they've already made the majority of physical sales there anyway. Probably works in their favour that they have an anniversary release to bring them back under the public radar a little bit just before announcing new music/coffee flavours7 points

Especially since the true anniversary isn’t until February 2024 so if not to build hype for the new era it made little sense to release it now6 points

Do my eyes decieve me? Oh my God, this looks like a fresh scan from the original film stock!6 points

Fuck it it's friday I'm staying up until midnight, getting drunk and waiting for an update on this website. If nothing, well it's saturday tomorrow. So, same thing.6 points

Personally hoping for a photoshoot of all 3 of them in a bed together, yawning and waking up. Tre is holding a teddy bear. They're all wearing variations of this outfit: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/48413764715665588/ Mike is making the same exact face as the man in the photo.5 points

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, and believe me I am as excited for new music as anyone but it just occurred to me that they have just released a whole load of merch around the Dookie anniversary. Surely they will want to let that maximize sales, probably at least until Christmas, before launching any new stuff? I suppose they could make the announcements tomorrow with a release date in February and then release the new album merch then, it seems like quite a lot of merch coming thick and fast, and quite expensive. Or maybe they'll just tell us they are awake tomorrow and are getting in on the joke.5 points

Ok yeah at this point I'm convinced the actual letters don't mean anything It's just the fonts that are indicating what the artist and album title will look like on the cover5 points

Hey, that's us! Now go ask Alexa to play Green Day Spotlight on @AmazonMusic #Dookie30 https://www.facebook.com/GreenDay4 points

Overall I'm very pleased with the set and knew it would be a day-one purchase. The other three discs easily validate re-purchasing Dookie, which it's even a little more convenient now that F.O.D. and All By Myself are separate tracks during the digital age (despite still keeping the huge pause at the end of F.O.D.). But I wouldn't be an obsessive fan without some nitpicks. The Dookie demos that have forever been bootlegged in reduced quality only partially appear here. Though the ones that were included are like silk to my ears compared to what was available on the internet in the 2000s. While the complete Dookie demos would take up another whole disc, the variety was a little disappointing. The '93 demo for J.A.R. they included is very similar to the final version, whereas the '92 acoustic demo is a very different experience. Prioritizing different versions is what makes the newly unearthed Basket Case demo so exciting. Meanwhile there's entirely different songs that were omitted; Monk's Keys, Don't Wanna Fall in Love, the unknown instrumental. With J.A.R., On The Wagon, and Tired of Waiting For You being widely available, and knowing they have to compromise song selection for space, it's a minor gripe of mine. But let's end on the positives. I thought I'd have to fall back on the vinyl rip for a digital version of the best recording of Woodstock '94. Nope, it's all here and sounds great. As for the other live show; Barcelona in 1994 was not a hugely talked about show - I think more people were anticipating Jaded in Chicago. But we have a triple threat of a show that sounds great in terms of recording, was performed great (naturally), and has a very unique setlist for the era. This makes it a great Dookie time capsule. Maybe even more so because fans weren't as familiar with it. To end off, the Dookie versions of Christie Road and 409 more than validate the purchase of the new set.4 points

HEY GREENDAY , NOBODY CARES ABOUT DOOKIE 30. FK YOUR DOOKIE MERCHANDISE AND GIVE US ALBUM 14 ALRE.. JUST DO ITTTTTTT4 points

Tracklist confirmed! Haha. I really like Celebrate Neon Rain. That sounds really interested and also tied to September Ends. But I am one of those melodramatic fools who is still hoping for the promotion of Trilogy, RevRad and FOAM to be completed. Tomorrow, we get a music video for Stop When the Red Lights Flash followed by Amy. Then 8th Avenue Serenade and 99 Revolutions. A massive Somewhere/Forever Now video, a Teenage Teenager video and THEN after all that....a Father of All Tours Tour. And of course some kind of fun surrounding 1972. and all other non-released material. Ah, nevermind. I'm gonna go to a shrink / to analyis my posts / she says it's lack of sense that's making me dense / i never went to whore / cause that'd disrespect lenor' Clearly Bonny.4 points

Imagine another song like bang bang. I know we're talking about 1981 or One Eyed Bastard but imagine a fucking banger like the one we had in 2017. Holy shit I still remember where I was.4 points

The most senseful subject of the potential anagram using all of the bold letters we have seen so far (NENYEILNCEBAORR) comes down to: Celebrate Neon Rain Cannot make anything out of the italic letters, as using them all provides mostly jibberish.3 points

I know its not gonna happen, but it would be such an amazing fanservice if we get the first single with tourdates for sale for hardcore/non casual fans before they announce it on their social media. Yeeees I know thats not gonna happen, but let me dream about it 😂 How does it smell? Dont say „like dookie“ 😂 Ah I‘m excited, I‘m sorry 😂3 points

It's enough to make us crazy, I suddenly realised you make eye liner out of the letters but it leaves you with nonsense. NNNCBAORR.2 points

The letters are still impossible to figure out. If they even mean anything in the end. Out of all the letters, bold or not (excluding the lowercase 't') I was able to cherrypick this: gREEN dAY NEW SONg TILL MOON ROCK BOTTOM But even that leaves us with the letters "COPEO" and assumes G, G & D will be part of the equation. Yeah... not holding my breath. Just gonna have to wait until tomorrow.2 points
-
Yeah I'm expecting a single/album announcement not the single itself. Will happily be surprised though!2 points
-
A good and commercially logical point. However, the latest timeline update on album 14 on greenday.fm states that single(s) will be released this year. Maybe the announcement tomorrow will give us a hint of a release date, end of Oct/Nov/Dec ? Allowing Dookie 30th to take promotional centre stage on GD's official webpage.2 points

It wouldn’t exactly hurt Dookie sales if we’re only getting a single now and waiting until at least February (?) for the album2 points

I guess tomorrow is the day we find out whether it's all been some elaborate troll from Jason who originally posted about it to reddit2 points

I watched the Father Of All Music Video and I really like how this band has become a meme after this album if you look at the comments.2 points

Someone mentioned the source code for the website had a video option and option for some signup - wondering if it’s going to be a short (3-5 seconds) gif or animated image with a teaser audio attached to it? Sign up for club show tour that will line up with launch of new material like RevRad 2016? if I’m wrong about the source code thing I’m sorry - this thread moves so fast sometimes it’s hard to keep up with what’s real and in my head 😂2 points

Yes the booklet is full of photos from the recording sessions. My question is about the little air freshener. I think mine smells like bubble gum?2 points

Guys, I think we all need to prepare for more waiting come Sunday. Even if they do deliver some news, I think the lesson since the teases started in 2021 is: keep your expectations as low as humanly possible.2 points

BB and RevRad were absolute bangers live. I agree that I don't like that everything from 21CB has been ignored. Stuff like Static Age, Viva la Gloria, Before the Lobotomy, etc. were so good live and I wish they'd bring them back. I honestly believe the setlists from the 21CB tour were the absolute best. There was a surprising amount of variety from show to show, with a solid core, and the balance between old and new was fantastic.2 points

Honestly think the new Sum 41 track is probably the worst single they've released. It's so generic. Nothing interesting going on with the guitars even though there are 3 guitarists in the band. Ik it's on the pop punk side of their double album (which is half pop punk and half metal) so it's going to be more simplistic than what they've done the last few albums but even comparing it to their older pop punk stuff (AKNF, Underclass Hero), it's really underwhelming I'm honestly surprised the song is getting the amount of praise it's getting Idk why BB was ever removed from the setlist. Although tbf idk why they've ignored everything from 21CB onwards apart from Know Your Enemy and 21 Guns2 points
