I love GD literally just downloading Walking The Dog from here and putting it on this album đ6 points

Hearing 409 in good quality makes me wish we had more songs from 1000 hours/slappy in this quality. Hearing something like dry ice or only of you like this would be incredible4 points

The original song is from 1963 by Rufus Thomas, it has many covers. Damn, Green Day did something really different compared to the rest of the songs from Dookie Sessions recording this cover, you know... experimental Green Day stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOHofU8CQYs&ab_channel=The45Prof4 points

Thereâs things I dislike and like about Foam but the first outweighs the second for me. Iâll stick to the positives and say I liked the use of new rhythms and I liked that Billie tried something different. Graffitia was a great addition to the catalog and Take The Money and Crawl was as well. Father of All was a different single and Treâs beat is cool and of course something new for the band. but imo I think Warning is the most misunderstood in their career. I would even say Uno Dos and Tre as well. The trilogy was just maybe too much to digest at once and to the average casual listener it may have looked like a cash grab or something gimmicky or even something overwhelming. We always say here if you cut it to the best 13-14 songs it would be solid. I think thatâs probably true. I thought the whole point of the album was to introduce soul into the Green Day sound!?! all joking aside itâs easily the worst album theyve released. I donât know if I agree wholeheartedly with the things you said. A corporate album would require an actual real album cover. All I know is that Green Day has been trying to get out of their contract since 21cb. They mentioned trying to get out of it as early as 2010. They tried a trilogy to expedite it, then they did rev rad where they didnt even put their name on the cover and then this one was just pure sabotage. Iâm sure there will be some sort of story in the future about what really happened here but theyve been disengaged since 21cb. I hope this era is over with the new album though.4 points

Dude: âomg youâre Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day?!?!â Billie: âHi nice to meet you. New albumâ Dude: âThank you! Goodbyeâ Yes, he did mention it đ4 points

So we've had 13 songs released in advance of 30th to drool over, 4 track & outtakes. Thanks GD. They are all amazing recordings. But if I had to choose a few favs, for me, Basket Case would have to be first. (I'm in raptures with Billie Joe's guitar playing, amazing). Followed by 409 In Your Coffeemaker, Christie Road, When I Come Around. I'm sure yours will differ, which is cool.3 points

You missed the point on the first one. The dismissive attitude doesnât fly with people. Your response proves exactly what I was exercising there. I mentioned many times that Blink was successful and even gave compliments where they were due and gave the criticisms from my point of view. Which happens to be different from yours. Itâs really no big deal thats why some people bought their records and others didnât. I was a fan of Blink before and theyâre one of the few bands that dropped off for me, I just never felt like they grew with me. It happened as well with a few hardcore punk bands I listened to later on as well. I grew as a person and some of those bands were too simplistic or no longer were relevant to my pov. I think the big thing here is âwhat I judged you onâ. Youâre focused on judging a person for sharing their experience and point of view rather than listening to another point of view regardless of how agreeable it is with yours. Then you questioned my integrity on top of that. The last time I performed with another musician it was with a Juno award winner. I am no longer in the pro arena for music but thatâs an accomplishment others canât say they have. It was a great humbling experience and I learned a lot. To top it all off they were a hero of mine when I was a kid. Itâs like the equivalent of jamming with Billie Joe or Robert Smith or something. So whether you question it or not you can never take away those experiences from me. Iâve had high level conversations with loads of successful rockstars and musicians. My producer has an album that sold as much as American Idiot. My experiences are very real. My opinions are based on experiences, my personal tastes and technical knowledge, theyâre not a chinese government legislation. Look at my response to @WhiteTim earlier in the thread. He said he wasnât even listening to the genre at that time. I asked what he was listening to. It was completely different than my experience but I didnât slag him off for it, I used it as an opportunity to gain more insight on his experience. It may open me up to something new or something I skipped during that timeframe or it may have no impact at all. But its something different and if you look at a band like Rush as an example, their music and their success is very much based off of having an open mind and different perspective and a willingness to be wrong and learn. I want to also add another shoutout to @Christian's Inferno! as well. Whether we agree or disagree on certain things I feel like youâre always ready to discuss Green Day in huge detail and I appreciate that. When I chat about this band and the environment that surrounds them I want to feel the same fiery passion get thrown back at me whether itâs my bias or not. Iâm probably the most misunderstood person on this forum to be honest. I just like discussing the topics more than anything and maybe breaking things down into details that would be deemed as unhealthy by a casual fan.3 points

This statement right here is the thing people don't fucking understand what Trilogy is and what it's supposed to be. Those albums are not supposed to be full of hits with classic punk rock Green Day sound nor another rock opera, those albums are supposed to be generic party themed albums. Uno! gets you going, Dos! is you in the party and ends in blackout drunk (Wow That's Loud!/Amy) and Tre! is full of power ballads to really give you that hangover feel. If you start taking ''bad'' songs out to get one ''good'' album out of those 3 albums, you fucking missed the point. Was every single one one of those 37 songs classic Green Day? No, they clearly struggled to fit some of the songs in and some of the songs don't fit the theme of album(s) at all (Drama Queen) and track order is rough at the places. They're not perfect albums nor they were perfectly executed but atleast the idea was there and with that idea in mind it makes perfect sense what those albums try to be. Dos! will always be my favorite Green Day album, but I kind of wish they had released it as Foxboro instead.3 points

"Walking the Dog" was a little disappointing with how low quality it sounded, but I guess that's why it's the only outtake listed as a "demo". Finally hearing the "Christie Road" re-recording after all this time was amazing, I see some people complaining about the slower pace but I actually really like it, I think it helps make this version sound a little more unique compared to the Kerplunk version. I always loved the "409 in Your Coffeemaker" re-recording, so hearing it get properly mixed and released on streaming is so great. I'm a little shocked the "J.A.R." outtake appears to have been left off? "On the Wagon" and "Tired of You" are already available because of "Shenanigans", but I wonder why they didn't release "J.A.R." with this, unless it just sounds the exact same as the already released version?3 points

Not only equipment but guitar tuning as well, Dookie was actually the first album where Mike and Billie used a tuner on their guitars so Billie may have changed his vocal pitch to match the tuning better. I guess before Dookie Mike and Billie just tuned to each other without using a tuner lol2 points

I feel your pain, I already have one holiday and two weddings! Need those dates pronto đ2 points

The family are getting antsy about booking a holiday for September/October next year, but are worried about booking something only for GD to tour the UK then. In the UK people typically book âpackage holidaysâ around 1 year in advance.2 points

When I flew home from Greece the other day and I spotted Huddersfield and Leeds from the plane- I have seen GD at both of those places.2 points

I kind of agree with you but I think people miss the point of FOAM. It was never meant to be a âdeepâ album, remember back to pre-pandemic 2020 when everyone was hoping for another âroaring 20sâ, many were still climate change deniers and everything had to be instant, both gratification and disposability. Thatâs the setting for Foam to me, hence the duration. Itâs a party album to dance and have fun too.2 points

Maybe if you listened to other things that sound different than Green Day, youâd realize thatâs not really the case. But youâll believe what you want to believe, just get tired of people repeating it over and over again. People canât get upset about people complaining about the trilogy and then also complain about FOAM so much And if you really listen, itâs obvious they care, but they find it harder to care as much in the moment. We all go through times where itâs harder to care if you have reasonable political beliefs. They donât owe you to be political activists all the time. That is what they more honestly felt like making at the time.2 points
-
You kind of undermined your whole argument there with that last sentence đ But I get what youâre saying. Dos might have made a decent Tubbies record but the Trilogy is what it was meant to be and I like it that way. I still find those songs fresh and fun Iâm glad they gave us so much music and didnât hold back and even still it was a fraction of the amount of songs they had. Maybe weâll get a deluxe release someday with some of the thirty or so songs that didnât make it2 points

Christie Road was everything I wanted it to be. Finally a good Christie Road version I can listen for the rest of my life that isn't live version from Awesome as Fuck.2 points

I love the versions of Christie Road and Walking The Dog, reminds me of the Stones version, quite bluesy.2 points

Green Day's version appears to be inspired by the Rolling Stones' version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEoowY9hXuM But yeah, I was shocked that the band didn't have a high-quality version. They must have lost the master copy.2 points

When I read that there was to be a J.A.R. outtake, I was both excited and surprised. I really love this song coupled with it's sad and emotional connection. Surprised as I already have 4 sound variations of the song if my memory is correct. There's the acoustic version from the 3 song demo cassette '92, the Art of Ears and Dancing Dog studios demo versions '93, and the latest version recorded for Angus soundtrack '95.2 points

Sometimes I wish that the next Green Day album is so bad, so that people will shut up about how bad they think FOAM is. It isn't their greatest record, but it will probably always be their most misunderstood.2 points
-
I mean it's kind of obvious why they wouldn't play H&H live. It's a relatively obscure deep cut from 21CB and it'd be way too hard for Billie to perform along with 2 hours of other songs. It may not be a great live track but I still think it's a top tier track.1 point
-
They anounced 3 unreleased outtakes, so J.A.R has to be a "new" versiĂłn (the others are Christie Road and walking the dog)1 point

Christie Road, 409 in your coffeemaker and walking the dog available on deezer.1 point

Ironic considering you werenât even a sperm cell when Pop Disaster Tour was happening. Itâs really easy to try and diminish someone. How does this comment feel? Iâm sorry that me sharing my personal experiences triggers you. Youâre going to hear opinions you donât agree with for the rest of your life. How you react to it shows more about your character than the person youâre attempting to tear down. Youâll learn in time the argumentative thing is a waste of energy and wonât get you too far ahead. You have the freedom to build the conversation and bring light to your pov and experiences. Leverage that to build the conversation rather than tear people down. For me thatâs where I leave this discussion. I am no longer going to discuss this with you if I am going to be pulled into a high school drama. Iâm not a pro musician anymore, that was years ago in all honesty. Itâs been more about production stuff as of late and just getting good sounds. Always love to help people find the right instruments. As for the second part my financial planner asked me to hang out the other day LOL but honestly from the biggest place of humility I canât stress financial freedom any more than I have already. Being disciplined and strategic with the resources you do have can build the bridge to the resources you donât currently have. Quitting smoking years ago was a huge step forward for me and helped shape my life into something stable.1 point

Keep going back and watching the 1981 video in Quebec, in amongst the crowd, clapping theirs hands above their heads on Billie Joe's instruction, as always. Could pretend I was there, that feeling is so special. Didn't care about the tech' probs. It's called live music, awesome. I really hope it's a single release.1 point
