"Despite all the facts you presented I go by my personal bias and judge a band from that." As a huge fan of both bands and being a member on both bands biggest forums I have to say it's the worst when green day fans talk about blink and vise versa. I really don't get why but both fan bases seem to be super snob and arrogant when to comes to talking about the other band. Blink fans say that Green Day are an emo band with eye liner that sold out and Green Day fans say that blink is a sell out pop pand that are terrible musicians and all their songs are basically like all the small things. Both opinions wrong and stupid.3 points

Green Day posted these on IG but am posting from YouTube Mike from @batmansmom From Jason White's Instagram story3 points

Of the many many strange twists and turns in the saga of @That Dude your hatred of Haushinka has got to take the cake. Of all the random Green Day songs to have a vendetta against. Were you bitten by someone named Haushinka as a child? Stole your girl? Burned down your house?2 points

Seeing as Alan made fun of his bellie in a picture once, I don't think it's just your family. 😄2 points

Quite possibly, I just thought with 5 older siblings they might get some pleasure out if this and giving you grief about it, maybe says more about my family 😂😂2 points

California and Nine respectively have performed much better than Revolution Radio and Father of All, not just in sales but in streaming numbers too Revolution Radio had first week sales of 95,000 (90,000 from pure album sales) California had first week sales of 186,000 (172,000 from pure album sales) Father of All had first week sales of 48,000 units (42,000 from pure album sales) Nine had first week sales of 94,000 units (77,000 pure album sales) California has total spotify streams of 671.2 million (only including the standard version of the album), with the most streams coming from Bored to Death (153m) and She's Out of Her Mind (125m) Revolution Radio has total of 400.7 million, with the most streams coming from Still Breathing (102m) and Bang Bang (83m) Nine has streams of 314.4 million, with I Really Wish I Hated You (59m) and Darkside (55m) being the strongest streamers Father of All has streams of 139 million, with the title track (37m) and Oh Yeah (33m) being the strongest performers Bang Bang's music and lyric videos total 33 million views on YouTube Still Breathing totals 48 million views Bored to Death totals 51 million views She's Out of Her Mind totals 33 million views too Father of All music video has 10 million views Oh Yeah has 7.3 million I Really Wish I Hated You lyric video only has 7.4 million views But Darkside has 20 million views Regardless of how poor sales or streams are for rock bands now, blink's newest albums have been performing better than Green Day's in pretty much every aspect. Sales, streams, singles Nobody's making the argument that blink has been more successful in their lifetime than Green Day has but since 2016, yeah their albums have performed better and I don't even think there's an argument to be had here. Father of All on streaming has performed basically as bad as an album from a rock band of Green Day's size can. Nobody is listening to that album anymore. People are listening to Uno more than Father of All, even though that was an unsuccessful album from over a decade ago. I wouldn't be surprised if Dos and Tré end up outperforming FOAM2 points

Somebody do an AI song of Blink-182 doing 1981. With Mark, Tom AND Matt on vocals! Heck, make Travis sing. I love and am obsessed with both bands. The only difference is Blink have a few duds on Neighborhoods while Green Day only have one dud named Haushinka. Green Day #1 (tied with all side projects) Blink-182 #9 (with 2 side projects in my top 10 as well)1 point

Pretty interesting. It always felt like blink did exceptionally well with streaming. California and Nine don't even feature the "classic" blink lineup and they put up strong numbers. There was never a proper tour for Nine, so it's not surprising it's so much lower than California, which had a bunch of touring and a deluxe edition. blink feels more actively in the news than GD these days, and has been since the RR/California releases. blink has done a bunch of collaborations with rap/pop artists, Travis Barker has a lot of mainstream popularity (Kardashians and beyond), and the changing line-up, cancer recovery, alien stuff, and reunion have all gotten a lot of specific attention. GD is less in the public eye when they're not promoting music or touring. I checked a couple months ago and Green Day's overall monthly Spotify streams were higher than blink's, even while they were actively on their reunion tour. Overall, I think blink fans skew a little younger and more casual than Green Day fans1 point

I’d be surprised if QOTSA got that far with their latest album, but the newest Foo Fighters could. All of those bands have been almost as big a band times, definitely not for as long, but idk, I don’t get why people put much stock into popularity. It doesn’t automatically make something worth listening to. Green Day still has a lot fans, but as big as they are they also have causal fans as well1 point

Despite those numbers I’ve heard more new Green Day songs on alt radio than Blink’s with the exception of Blame it on my youth which got into the rotation just as much. Even Edging is very weak in the rotation tbh. Atleast here where I am. Oh Yeah had more consistent plays even. The margins you shared are also slim. Foamf was a covid record with limited promotion. I think both bands will see a boost in numbers with their upcoming albums. Green Day is taking their time which will increase demand. It feels like we havent had anything in 10 years so if they come out with songs with a decent tempo they will get a solid response again. there will always be trends, peaks and valleys but long-term theres no competition. Billie will always be a better songwriter than Mark and Tom, GD is a tighter live band and Green Day stirs it up more publicly. Blink is gimmicky, they’re pro reality television (hey Mark how was your tv show!?!) and Travis Kardashian gets them a lot of casual attention. With all this attention, fame and fortune theyre not even considered for any honors. Blink has a single Grammy nomination, Green Day had more than 1 in their first year of being eligible. From an industry standpoint Green Day stands among the legends as a serious group that contributed to a generational counter culture shift. Blink is another pop punk band that’s come and gone on repeat several times. Even Tim Armstrong has more grammies than them as a band and he never got that commercial success they had. I’m sure Travis probably has a few though in his other projects though.1 point

2011-2012 was pretty much the breaking point for album sales. There were still some sales happening but the industry was seeing massive declines year after year around this time. The other major breaking point was around the time AI was released. Downloading was one reason and the beginning of streaming being the other.1 point

In 2012, yeah it would've been a flop for Green Day. Albums sold way more back then and Green Day were still at a high point in their career in 2009 with 21CB and 21 Guns. So yeah, Uno would've been a flop following 21CB. Oh Love was a pretty big hit for them for a little while but it didn't last long and the album gets far less streams now than anything they released from 1994-2009 I'm not sure where you're getting that 1 million copies figures but I assume that's 1 million copies worldwide, right? Whereas 21CB sold over 1 million copies just in the US and 4 million worldwide. While Uno sold 139,000 copies in its first week, 21CB sold 215,000 copies in its first 3 days, and an additional 166,000 copies in the following 7 days1 point
