Nothing other than Dookie 30 things will happen until at least a few weeks after Dookie 30 is released.3 points

Isn’t it pretty well known that Billie was known as the “band nazi” around the Warning/C&V era? I seem to recall reading something about a phone call between them where they asked if they wanted to keep being in Green Day or hang it up. Seems like AI was really the fresh start they needed at the time.3 points

I can't believe Labor Day Weekend is already next week!!! Do you guys think we'll get Album 14 news before Dookie comes out or will they wait until October?2 points

i remember mike saying something to that effect in the bullet in a bible outtakes i'm paraphrasing but it was along the lines of "before american idiot, we were having band practices in billie's basement and after 2 or 3 weeks we are like this sucks , we know how to have band practice this is not how we want to approach making a record and it got to the point where billie phoned me and was like do you even want to do this anymore ?"2 points

What is the chance of Green Day releasing anything similar like the anniversary releases of Dookie 30th, Insomniac 25th and Nimrod 25th, with demos, live albums and outtakes?1 point

The thing is they have a lot of material to use to add in a possible box set. Every small show before the release of Uno was recorded. They probably had tons of unused songs and alternative mixes. Hell, I'd like to see an extended cut of Cuatro too, with a deeper insight of the creative process. Probably it won't happen, but never say never.1 point

If we're debating openers for the inevitable tour, I thought Sweet Children did a solid job opening for Green Day in 2015.1 point

So are you confirming that something is happening a few weeks after dookie30? 👀1 point

I think it’s unlikely given the demolicious album. Also the band seems to just not be fond of going back to these songs on the setlist.1 point

I really loved the @GDFan2019 idea of a boxset with Uno Dos Tre Cuatro Cinco Seis Siete and Ocho Or in french for me Un Deux Trois Quatre Cinq Six Sept Huit1 point

I'm not sure the label would want to take a chance on that, but we'll see what happens, an Otis remix set would be pretty cool1 point

Yeah I could see them put out the single on either October 13th or October 20th1 point

I think Dookie 30 comes out and probably a single mid October or November. Not loving the idea of a winter GD record. Would prefer any other season.1 point

Canceled? I just they were filming the "20 years has gone so fast" part in real time.1 point

I think you are pretty exact there, there was clearly a need for them to reestablish their relationship as adults, not surprisingly, and successful ones. I’m sure I’ve read they said something along the lines of it being their moment like Metallica having therapy, they didn’t need that but they did have to sit down and really open up to each other it appears.1 point

Sounds really great, well put together and good ears. The only thing I’d suggest is the lyrics up on most websites and the previous covers are wrong in the verses/pre-chorus but that’s pretty trivial1 point

just assumptions, anyone can come here and claim he met the band somewhere backstage and tell they said this or that. This proves nothing1 point

Where was this mentioned? All I know is that there were tensions in the band heading into C&V and AI. Billie was somewhat the target of the frustrations. Ironically that happened again during the trilogy with his issues and I know Mike went at it with Billie then.1 point

Im ok with that test. This means they actually give a shit again. I have no hard feelings about the last string of albums because Billie needed to get his head on right. But the band needs to do something above and beyond again. Don’t leave me hanging with 21cb. And no, Rev Rad wasn’t it.1 point

Last bit of info: There is some substance in Roshambo and Supermodel Robots potentially being for C&V. I think it’s fair to say that Governator is a true AI B-Side due to the timing and it’s possible Shoplifter is too (although the Jimmy part could have been a reworked lyric). There’s also a theory that Wake Me Up When September Ends was actually for C&V as it’s always been the one song that they admit strays from the storyline and of course we know the concept dates back before AI. So I think John’s list is mostly C&V but theres elements of it that are untrue - for example Letterbomb was on there but cannot be listed on that tracklist as it was already selected for AI. And if Roshambo and Supermodel Robots were intended for it then theyre not submitting it as they used it elsewhere.1 point

There’s no way that they debut a new song live and then silence about that until next year 🫠1 point

Remember the times when green day used to destroy their stage after every show? Also Billie used to throw away his guitar after the finale song too1 point

As far as Canadian bands go, Propagandhi > Sum 41. And I like Sum 41 a lot.1 point

12 BEST PUNK DRUMMERS OF ALL TIME 9. Tré Cool, Green Day Sure, many like to moan and groan that “Green Day isn’t punk.” But, they really were and are punk. They just happened to be the band to bring punk rock to the mainstream. Perhaps part of that distaste for Green Day from punk’s contingent is the fact that they did bring punk from the underground to the masses. Regardless, Tré Cool’s drumming is a large part of Green Day’s sound. The three-piece is tight and steady, and it’s hard to imagine a Green Day track without Cool contributing his steady rhythms. https://audioinkradio.com/2023/08/best-punk-drummers-of-all-time/1 point
