  1. I hope it never happens. GD and the fans deserve a better opening act

  2. We may never get an actual release called C&V considering what’s been said about it, it sounds like they were just recording sessions of a bunch of songs and they were not yet at the stage of finalizing an album or a tracklist when they changed direction. Do we even know if C&V was the official name of a finished album or just what we call the sessions? I don’t go by the whole “stolen masters” bullshit story. Judging by the deluxe editions we’ve now seen, I think an AI reissue would contain a bonus disc of mixed demos and outtakes not particularly attributed to “C&V” though the songs could have come from those sessions. And we won’t get everything, just the few things they think are the most interesting and that haven’t been released already in some other release or form. Tell that to Green Day. They seem to be steeped in nostalgia these days rather than focusing on the new release they’ve been silent about for a year.

  3. I'm going tomorrow — excited! Simple Plan is honestly a really great live band if y'all haven't seen them. It's really funny to see Green Day fans shitting on other bands because outside of our hardcore fandom, Green Day isn't really all that popular anymore and FOAM was rather embarrassing. I mean I love 'em, but no need to be elitist.

  4. Quit bragging about being close to celebrities to try and make yourself feel special here. JK I'm not Lukie. Where's the GOB love?!

  5. And things like Black Eyeliner show that things being reworked from them don’t rule out them being released 🙌🏻

  6. They literally put out a trilogy of albums and a Broadway musical after 21st Century Breakdown. 🤡

  7. Probably irrelevant info: saw sum 41 and simple plan last night. Simple plan lead singer was saying that one of their inspirations with making music is/was Green Day. Wonder if simple plan could be an opener for GD on next tour!

  8. Of course I'm taking Sum and Billy Talent before Simple Plan. But SP is still a really good band I don't know why people are shitting on them.

  9. That’s the first I’ve heard of that, because AFAIK they’ve only ever told the official story of “recorded all the songs for an eventual album, masters got stolen, started over and wrote AI instead”. Never heard it said they planned to release two albums
    2 points
  10. Yup, these two along with the other ones listed are all of the outtakes from Insomniac. There was an interview a few years ago with Kevin Army, the engineer for that album, and he said everything from that session was released

  12. Exactly my thoughts. To get C&V untouched would be the biggest gift they could give us

  13. Tre should really be no 1 of course.

  14. 12 BEST PUNK DRUMMERS OF ALL TIME 9. Tré Cool, Green Day Sure, many like to moan and groan that “Green Day isn’t punk.” But, they really were and are punk. They just happened to be the band to bring punk rock to the mainstream. Perhaps part of that distaste for Green Day from punk’s contingent is the fact that they did bring punk from the underground to the masses. Regardless, Tré Cool’s drumming is a large part of Green Day’s sound. The three-piece is tight and steady, and it’s hard to imagine a Green Day track without Cool contributing his steady rhythms. https://audioinkradio.com/2023/08/best-punk-drummers-of-all-time/

  17. Honestly think Simple Plan is a pretty overhated band. They're not a great band and I'm not familiar with their discography as a whole but they do have some songs I really like. They also have a fair amount of shit too, from what I've heard, but overall they're not too bad imo. I wouldn't mind if they were an opener for GD

  18. I was thinkin about this, and here's my guess: Insomniac was the first of these deluxe sets that we got. I'm guessing that it was done to gauge interest in that sort of thing. It must've done well, since we've gotten Nimrod and Dookie mega boxes since. But it makes sense that they wouldn't test the waters with a 5/6 LP box, yknow? That said, I would've eaten up a demos / outtakes disc for the insomniac reissue. Is there any specific stuff we know of that would've gone on that hypothetical disc?

  19. I think they’re really good together No I’m pretty sure C&V was the album and was ready to ship. from the best of my knowledge the story is that during the finishing phase of C&V they wrote American Idiot, parts of Homecoming and a few of the progressions of the other songs. So from there the goal was to release C&V and then come out with AI near the end of Bush’s term. Then apparently they said fuck it let’s pivot because if they’re late to releasing AI they could miss a huge opportunity. So they decided AI first then C&V potentially after. Of course AI blew up and gave GD a whole new trajectory to follow. I apologize as I can’t recall the source of this information but I do remember this being the story or the closest thing to it.

  20. But a possible reason could be the short break. They had a stressful tour for Dookie and maybe not much time and just recorded their finished songs. I mean I could be wrong but I think there isn‘t much to release for Insomniac. When you think of the early performance of Armatage Shanks, Geek stink Breath and Stuart and the ave. the writings seemed almost finished. Maybe the Demos sounded like the official recordings just in bad quality cause they wanted to finish the record as fast as they can but thats just speculation. For sure I want to have more songs from that era cause I love Insomniac but just Demos? I prefer live recordings/a full show from that era

  21. "You líed" and "rotting". J.A.R. Angus versión is also from insomniac sessions

  22. Been thinking about this... here's all the outtakes I can think of from the Insomniac sessions: 1. I Wanna Be On TV 2. Don't Wanna Fall In Love 3. Do Da Da 4. Good Riddance demo 5. JAR(?) am I missing anything? Maybe there just weren't enough interesting scraps lying around for insomniac's reissue to be more than what it was.

  24. I don't thik he ever sung 'better not come around', this is just a bootleg title for the song when no one knew the real name of it

  28. This is the most near reality theory, but why couldn't make 2CDs including the full Prague show?

  29. Simple Plan isn‘t really awesome but they got some good songs especially the first two albums. And they‘re not that bad as a live band. I saw them performing in 2013 at Rock am Ring on the same Stage Green Day played as Headliner. Rise Against opened for Green Day and saw them 4 times and they are such a bad live band tbh, so Simple Plan would be a better Choice 😂 But for me I saw Zebrahead last thursday for the 10th time and they deserve more attention and as far as I know they also opened for Green Day many years ago

  30. I just saw them with The Offspring and Sum 41, and they really did an awesome show.

  31. I think I even read somewhere that it was included on early review copies, so it's pretty surprising it hasn't ever leaked since then.

  32. Not their most anticipated album. It’s either AI or 21cb. It was fully recorded and mastered for sure because it was swapped out last minute. I would also like to hear it because it is most likely a superior recording to the one we got on Tre.

  33. I honestly don't think they'll do anything for AI 20th.. I think they'll save it for the 25th. And also 25th being more auspicious than 20th

  34. I think with Dookie, new Green Day and new PHGP that they won’t do any more anniversary stuff next year but keep it for now.

  35. They look to be the same to me, Amazon is £144 for black, and coloured vinyl is available for £168 including postage from Reflex Records, I think the colour set are indie record store specials. Way cheaper than through the official web store.

  36. Trying to justify to myself paying an extra £64 for the colour vinyl set compared to the regular black vinyl price (on Amazon UK). Does the colour vinyl version have any other extras I haven’t spotted?

  37. A portion of it yes but theres still a handful we never heard although they may have been reworked into new songs. Still would love to hear the sessions from 2003 though. Yes that’s correct. I believe it was first played live in 92.

  38. He sang it that way live in the early versions the demo must be later
    1 point
  39. yeah, but probably everything was reworked. I think it would be awesome if they give us C&V they way it was recorded back then, even though some of the songs ended up merging into another ones
    1 point
  40. Yup they should just give us C&V.

  41. New album could be called Chiflada and it will sound exactly like Dookie, but with the continuing story of American Idiot. Or 杜基 डूकी Hey, Dookie in french is Idiote. Oh my. I think I've unlocked a Green Day secret. I bet the new album will come out now that I've cracked THAT code! дуки

  43. Wasn't When I Come Around originally titled Better Not Come Around? I remember hearing a live version with those lyrics years ago and can no longer find it online.

  44. They already did a release for the 25th anniversary, I doubt they'll do anything for the 30th

  45. I hear from Sum 41 that Green Day's new album will feature a really great cover of Rollin by L I M P.

  46. I’m sure we’ll have heard at least bits of many of them, but agreed.

  47. If Warner releases it all now what will they have as a cash cow in 5 or 10 years?

  48. Imagine if there was no new album and all they did was re-record Dookie lol
