A 5-6 month build up for an anniversary album would not be fun (nor smart).6 points

My guess is that we won't hear anything about the new album until after Dookie 30 is released.6 points

bottom right "Live in Barcelona"? also judging from the colors of "Green Day" on the cover...4 points

I miss the energy and fire of the Trilogy. Even the Longshot was pretty exciting. If they get more fired up about another re-issue than the new record that will be disappointing. The lyrics were not good.4 points

I have been that close to him and knew I wouldn't be able to speak so didn't even attempt it 😄4 points

It’s gonna be a stinky Dookie, they gotta wait a while and let the room air out before they drop any new music4 points

A bit bummed for the Woodstock 94 vinyl being there tbh. Most probably gonna buy this anyway in the end, but I basically already own half of the thing. Wish they included something that wasn’t released as a standalone a couple of years ago or whenever that was.3 points

Ehh.. I really wish they picked a concert that wasn't bootleged to hell and back already (Barcelona).3 points

This is exactly how I feel. There's nothing to make "surround" here as the only stereo aspect to this is room mics on the drums and the panned left/right guitars. If the album had other sound elements or more interesting usage of sound layers I could see it.3 points

That would require the original stems to be available. From the Green Day Rock Band days, I remember extensive discussion about recovering the stems from tape and digitizing them for inclusion in the game. Most of Dookie was able to be successfully digitized but "Chump" and "Longview" had issues. Maybe (hopefully) something has changed on that front.3 points

Wow yeah I was completely uninterested in this but that clip of WICA is exciting. Hopefully there's more good stuff coming and it's not just the one interesting thing on this 😅3 points

I agree, but ever since the trilogy (maybe longer) the marketing and promotion for releases have been so bad, like they just do the bare minimum and nothing more. The trilogy marketing was fucked (naturally), but so was FOAM (didn't have to). There is so much to their music and history, but it feels like they just don't care too much (and that's fine, they do what the fuck they wanna do). One example is all their tiny bits of live performance videos they put out on IG or TikTok from the different eras, why keep all that kept in a vault and not release some bits of songs on i.e. YouTube every once in a while? I think it would do great to both the band and the fans (and fans that's yet to come).3 points

I wouldn't judge it by that performance. Billie was clearly having audio issues3 points

That “When i come around “ snippet is glorious. I love the guitar tone. I hope there is an acoustic version of “Pulling Teeth”3 points

Dookie 30th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition may include an Ernie puppet from Sesame Street with a mini Dookie t-shirt on.2 points

As you may remember, my guessing for Dookie 30th was late September-early October. Now we know it is 29th of September. My guess was that the new single of new album will follow soon after (late October-early November) with the new album release date being sometime between Feb-(latest) May 2024. Following a build up for Dookie 30th during August and September, we will get it on Sep 29th. After a 2 week break after this, I think we will most probably hear the new single from the new album on the 3rd or 4th week of October (if not originally planned for November).2 points

Atmos can be good or bad depending on the mix especially for rock. I’ve heard great sounding Atmos stuff (Beatles and Giles Martin’s new Pet Sounds mix) and atrocious Atmos mixes (the Motley Crue albums and The Beach Boys Sounds of Summer reissue). It really just depends. But I’m a spoiled brat and I want my Dookie in surround sound.2 points

AI demixing has come a long way since GDRB was being worked on. They used it on the Revolver reissue that came out last year. Not sure if the team has access to that software or not but that kind of thing is way easier than it used to be. For my money the only reason to bother with that would be a Dolby Atmos conversion. Does Dookie need a remix or remaster for regular stereo? I say no way.2 points

I hope they'll release a new demo out there with the 30th Dookie Anniversary announcement tomorrow.2 points

A little bummed about no Jaded. If it came on a Blu-Ray on the CD set that would’ve been enough to get me to buy the vinyl and the CD. As it is I’ll just get the vinyl. Still hype though. The clean WICA is still intriguing, what other extras could they have in store? Guess we’ll find out soon.2 points

It’s just here. People are often so rude and make it all about them on this message board. Be more like @That Dude or @GDFan2019 and everything will be fine. Billie Joe during the Longshot tour had to tell a lot of the same people to stop being at the front of the stage every show and let other people up front. In the real world, the shitty toxic Green Day fans are outnumbered.2 points

My little theory about the stripped down of When I Come Around is that Cavallo suggested to work in that kind of songs to see if they can sell it to a movie or something. Obviously it didn't come too far because they didn't released before. But well, one only can dream about it1 point

I can't see them just ignoring Dookie 30 beyond just posting a few social media posts about it like they have for Nimrod 25 and Insomniac 25. Dookie is arguably their most well known album. It would be like if Linkin Park just kinda released Hybrid Theory and Meteora's 20th anniversary albums without really even talking about it. Ik Green Day isn't really comparable to Linkin Park in that GD are still active in making albums and stuff while Linkin Park hasn't made any new songs since One More Light in 2017 due to Chester's passing but I still think the idea of a band releasing a 30 year anniversary edition of their biggest album would just be some random release that never really gets talked about or even mentioned by the band is just not something I can see happening. Insomniac and Nimrod are not albums that are hugely beloved outside of the main Green Day fandom. The mainstream and casual fans don't care about those albums (outside of Good Riddance) Idc if this release delays the new album because I wasn't expecting the album to come any time soon anyway. Based on 1981 which is average at best and the fact that the teasers we heard were an eternity ago, the band has just done nothing to get me excited about the new album yet and there's been no indication that the album is even coming. A random performance of an unknown song doesn't mean anything when it's followed by weeks of nothing1 point
