  1. It would be smart to have the new album propped up by Dookie 30th anniversary marketing to put Green Day at the front of peoples' minds. I could argue American Idiot 20th (whoa) could do a better job at that but that's later in 2024.

  2. As long as they are at LEAST 6 years better than The 1975, I could potentially bang my head like it's them.

  3. Guessing the Dookie 30th anniversary stuff is going to be a holiday release before the new album promo starts

  6. What if #Dookie30 is actually Two-kie and the new album is a total sequel to their seminal album? Would make a lot of sense if you really think about it* *Please don’t think about it too much

  7. Well I just watched all the released teasers again, and I think they are going for it this time, I think they are going big with this one..like in one clip Tre says "but this is a big slow song" and another clip where they are stopped by Rob when he couldn't hear the toms enough and the way Billie wwas describing one how he couldn't put words on it but wanted the structure to remain great , think they said something about letterbomb and in a few other clips, one of which sound like holliday a bit also...I think we are actually gonna get an cross between A.I and 21cb at this point and I think they may be adding to it, just like when Billie pulled back 21cb to add See the light to it at the last minute and also maybe when he said 1972 is dead they went for something more clever like ai or 21cbd and 1981 has beed dropped from it as it didn't fit in and that's why they played it live for us to atleast hear something new ..well that's what I'm hoping for anyways...nevermind , said my wee bit, back under my (worry)rock I crawl to wait for any hints of an update, see you all on page 1039 🤟

  8. Looks like the band are teasing something to do with the 30th anniversary of Dookie, so that means it’s time to get speculating https://www.instagram.com/p/CvsnsuTOY0f/

  9. How are they restricting themselves to the Green Day sound when most of FOAM critiques come from it not sounding like GD? What happened since 21CB is kinda the opposite, the side projects sound landed on GD records. And we are talking about a band that reinvented its sound at least 4 times in their career. And on top of that I don’t really get where this “they like the side projects more” come from. For sure they like to play more intimate shows from time to time, and to have fun with these side gigs, but I don’t really see how we can put this in contrast or competition with their GD career. Feel like posts like this keep forgetting they had a GD album/stadium tour cycle that ended less then a year ago and started in 2019. Let the guys have some fun if they want to.

  10. Knowing that Reprise is sitting on some material, Dookie 30 is likely to be something old with some sort of addition that is not publicly available. I bet it could contain a new remaster of the record, with all the b-sides and alternative takes. Hoping for a proper mix of 409 in your coffeemaker. For live shows, they can easily go with Jannus Landing, Barcelona or Chicago. I'd like to see MSG tho

  13. I really hope they don't do anything like that, I feel like Dookie would overshadow the new album and they've been delaying the new album because they feel it's special and want it to get the most attention. It makes more sense to me to release the new album first but idk, I've never been in marketing or anything, maybe White Tim could give his opinion on this since he's worked with labels.

  15. I doubt they’d blow their wad on doing a Dookie and AI reissue in the same year, especially with a new studio album on the way. Plus I don’t think my wallet could take it. What a Sophie’s Choice that would be.

  17. My dream Dookie30th edition would be: -Video of Lollapalooza 1994 Concert in full -Official and high quality video release of Jaded In Chicago -Surprise early versions of Westbound Sign, Armatage Shanks and Geek Stink Breath. They were all performed during 1994 soundchecks, performances. -Some unreleased footage including interviews, behind the scenes of making the videos, performances that Mtv have not aired in full to this day, outtakes from photoshoots etc -Plus all b-sides and demos Probably 80% of the above will not happen but it's nice to dream.

  19. And most casual fans or listeners or more easily manipulated by general and popular opinions. so if the general consensus is “a return to form” then the reception will be overwhelmingly positive even if its a middle of the road record It may help that the band has been out of the spotlight for a long time too. The listener fatigue at the tail end of AI was at an all time high and as good as Ai was for the band that kinda killed them a bit imo

  20. #Dookie30 will be a documentary... I mean, we all remember 10 years ago, when it was planned to happen for 20th. They even ask to fans to send them flyers from the 90's times. We remember that, right?

  21. Oh man, that would be February. Would be odd to do an album anniversary and a new album at the same time if they’re doing anything similar to nimrod…

  24. I guess we should open a new topic/thread for this show. Surprisingly I was able to get a ticket. Didn't even think it through but I acted fast since they were selling quick. Not even sure if I will go lol. SF is sketch and an hour away..

  27. "We know how much you bleepers like Dookie, so we went ahead and recorded 13 more songs that sound just like Dookie but with way more experience behind it!" Billie says this as they reveal their new setlist - Most of Dookie, 7 American Idiot tracks and 5 new songs that sound like Dookie. Basketcase is interesting. It starts with just guitar. Then drums. It's a very simple song, and they haven't done another song like it since. Guys, It's time for Still A Basketcase or We're All Basketcases. Basketcase 3000. Basketcase ii.

  28. Yeah seems crowded to even do a Dookie 30th and a new record. Both could get in the way of the other.

  29. Dear Warner: For dookie 30 i wish: CD 1: dookie remastered CD 2: all demos (incl. J.A.R and Haushinka) mastered + b-sides (Christie road included) CD 3: full st petersburg show + full woodstock show CD 4: full Chicago show + full Barcelona garatage show

  30. I think release for Dookie in November and new record in February

  31. Purely speculative but I would guess Dookie in Feb, new album in May/June, AI anniversary release in September.

  32. The lyrics are really dogshit I hope it was just an idea and not going on the album.

  33. I’m not. Having an official way to stream the demos would be really cool, maybe a surround mix, some studio chatter or alternate takes (less likely but would be really nice), a digital release for Woodstock ‘94, or an official release/remaster for Jaded in Chicago (uncensored, natch) would all be great goodies to have.

  35. Pretty sure it was Murder City added last minute, not See the Light. I've not heard anything about See the Light being a late addition to 21CB

  36. To me, this album will serve as a gauge of how much the band has left in the tank. My hope is after putting out the worst album of their career and getting back in the studio with Rob, we should get something with some passion and energy (and hopefully lyrics that are halfway decent).

  41. Agree on everything except 21cb… 21cb is one of the most unique GD albums and has some incredible songwriting as a whole. A lot of people talk about Warning being an underrated record (and it is) but 21cb might be their most underrated. It was the perfect follow up to AI. KYE might feel flat for us as a lead single but it was successful as hell and 21 Guns was a megahit. The rest of the songs were all new songs there was no recycling and the touch of piano on those tracks were refreshing especially in the viva la gloria songs. Most bands can’t successfully follow up even a 3X platinum record well let alone a 6x Platinum record. GD did a stellar job on following up on Dookie as well with Insomniac, which is also often overlooked.

  42. It was explicitly for putting it on AAF. When they played it the first time in Denver Billie Joe said “hey I wanna tell you something, we’re recording a live fucking album right now! So we’re going to play a brand new song. But it ain’t that brand new, this song’s called Cigarettes and Valentines”. Then I lost my goddamn mind and had something close to a heart attack.

  43. Yeah and if you were around here online during that time there was almost like a feeling that they were just gonna say “fuck it lets trickle out the songs and eventually release them”. I’d honestly take it now over a new album. We got God’s Favorite Band now we need a modern day Shenanigans. I don’t think the songs are as bad as some people are thinking they are. It’s just that American Idiot is that much better. I would assume stacked against everything post-21cb that c&v has to be better. Their so-called “decline” at the time was more about reaching audiences not indicative of the quality of their songwriting.
