Let’s be careful to not get too hyped up about this, despite the early indications we have that it could be good. I was told, however, “it’s a great record.”13 points

If this Instagram post about Oakland Coffee posted 4 days ago is really a hint for the next album like some people are saying and that the next album is a rock opera like American Idiot then the first single should be called Boulevard of Broken Beans.6 points

Honestly, like do we really care if they win a Grammy? Do they care if they win a Grammy? All I care is that this album gives me 35-45 minutes of rock and roll happiness and that when the tour is announced I don’t have to drive to fucking Denver again to see these guys.5 points

Imagine if Love is for Losers and Stop Drop and Roll were released under Green Day. This band would probably have another Grammy and be much more respected.4 points

I agree that the post-21CB stuff hasn't been as good as what they've done in the 00's or most of the 90's. But I think there are definitely a lot of fantastic songs on the trilogy Idk if this is a hot take but there's so much more value in the trilogy than RevRad to me honestly. I still like RR but it is pretty underwhelming to me. I used to consider it one of my favourite Green Day albums, like top 5 at least, but it's really gone down on my album ranking over time. I feel like I should like it a lot more than I do. I mean, it's sort of like the trilogy but a more compact 40 minute album instead of a project filled with 37 songs and it's closer to the style of AI/21CB (my favourite albums) than the trilogy was. But it just doesn't reach the highs of AI/21CB and the trilogy has a ton of great highlights that can compare with the best of their discography despite also having quite a few tracks that are mediocre/mid by Green Day standard. RevRad imo only really has 1 song that I can bring up amongst the best songs of their discography and that's Bang Bang4 points

Nah disagree. I find SB to be pretty mid by GD standards. Not bad but not great3 points

Love Is For Losers reached that level or had that magic touch for me. Which is why it bugs me to no end that it was a solo project rather than a proper Green Day album.3 points

do we know that 1981 is really a song from the upcoming LP? i know we got the youtube teasers etc, but maybe its a song they dropped during recording process and it wont be on the actual tracklist?2 points

The thing is that it's almost impossible to put out a worse record than Father Of All...2 points

If they’re connected to the band, why would they ever say anything negative about their record? Or even their friends’ record.2 points

Green day might win a Grammy with their new album considering how new music is so shit these days.. They might not have a lot of competition. Just throw out a beautiful ballad out there and viola, we have a grammy2 points

Part of me likes that it was a side project, both because it feels more special to the die hard fans, and also because I love that it's all Billie, but anytime I hear LIFL (the song), it kills me that no one in the general public knows it. I truly think that could have charted well (at least in the rock/alternative charts) if it had just been promoted.2 points

https://forum.greenday.fm/t/album-14-news-rumours-speculation/28/1459 In this forum, he says one song starts with "American", so I was thinking, we were speculating here about that "Saviors" title, so could it be, "American Saviors"?1 point

Thing is everybody is saying like "dont expect a american idiot 2, or a 21stcb 2" and I dont know why? The Band has done these two albums. We know that they can make these epic, absolutely iconic songs, so why dont expect a new big thing like that? It's actually what I hope for. RevRad was good too, and I wouldnt be dissapointed if the new album is as good as RevRad. But what I really hope for is something that really is amazing.1 point

maybe I not allowed to say It here, but a new song resembles Holiday1 point

Same! The gasoline that lit the creative juices for Love is for Losers is so reminiscent of Gloria, Stay the Night, Fell for You, Stop Drop and Roll, Mother Mary and maybe even Dream Catcher. I love the lyrics from the songs of that ghost he’s been chasing of the one that got away. I hope that inspiration/muse makes a lot of appearances on the new record. That well of inspiration is gold. The gift that keeps on giving. I hope they use that fuel to inspire this new Green Day era.1 point

I'm seeing this record as a punk rock album written by the guys who did Revolution Radio, Love is for Losers, and Money Money 2020 II - produced by the guy who did most of Green Day's best albums and mixed by my favourite mix engineer. Of course it's not another American Idiot, but I still have no reason to doubt that it's at least 'great' at a minimum. One divisive record and a few songs that were done during a global pandemic aren't going to convince me otherwise.1 point

I wasn't given this type of opinion for FOAM. I have no reason to doubt the person who said this.1 point

I could see GD winning a Grammy again. Look how many artists win at the tail end of their career. Lots of times not even for their best material, but just because the voters want to reward them for having a long career.1 point

I could see them winning a Grammy for the new album! Based on the teasers, they're going all out for this one and making it special!!!1 point

Each one holds a special place in my heart but honestly, everything post-21CB has really been missing the magic for me. Of those five I'd say Uno has had the most replay value.1 point

Billie Joe ranks 9th on the Hard Time’s list of “50 Famous Lead Singers Ranked by How Good of a Roommate I Think They’d Be” Billie Joe seems very gregarious and an overall solid roommate. The only downside is that he’d always be threatening to move to Canada if a politician he didn’t like got elected. Contractually speaking, that’s really going to mess up our lease situation. https://thehardtimes.net/rankings/50-famous-lead-singers-ranked-by-how-good-of-a-roommate-i-think-theyd-be/1 point
