  3. The clip didn’t do it justice. They rushed that and weren’t ready. As for the structure of the song it’s standard Green Day. It seems fast and fun but it’s nothing more, nothing less. Reminds me a bit of when they did this with C&V on the 21cb tour Probably means they have a legit title picked for the album or he’s just fucking around with fans for fun

  4. I thought about all of you when Billie was shaking his butt literally in front of me during Careless Whisper. But all the camera were on Jason. I should have filmed it for you 😋

  5. BLASPHEMY!! Obviously, he was just sticking to The Network by posting that as a "TAKE THAT LOSERS! GREEN DAY ALWAYS WIN" type of thing. Clearly, he was just laughing at them and their wild conspiracies. I think the only mature way to settle their differences is to get Billie and Fink in the ring and have them duke it out! My money's on Fink (sorry Billie).

  7. I watched that video of Billie dropkicking some butthead from the stage for hours. What did Fink ever do?

  9. There's also an old Last Night On Earth video from the 21st Century Breakdown Tour (I'm pretty much sure that the video is from their show in Zurich, on November 8, 2009). billiejoearmstrong: More fun and somethin from the archives #lastnightonearth https://www.instagram.com/p/Cu3xaojuTqf/?igshid=NjIwNzIyMDk2Mg==

  10. can anyone help with the lyrics? I’ve got this down but I’m not sure on the start of a line in the second verse [Chorus] She's gonna bang her head like 1981 She's gonna bang her head like 1981 She's gonna bang her head like 1981 She's gonna bang her head like 1981 [Verse 1] She's throwing punches to the beat To the sound of cable TV And she'll never see the world the same She is a Cold War in my head And I am [?] (sounds like he says displaying) On the danger side of hearts, oh no [Pre-Chorus] Coffee and cyanide for lovers in the state If this is not a choice We got one foot in the grave [Chorus] She's gonna bang her head like 1981 She's gonna bang her head like 1981 She's gonna bang her head like 1981 She's gonna bang her head like 1981 [Verse 2] Crime, following the signs Part of our new lives God-bless the end of time Pain violence and cocaine [?] (Sulfur?) from acid rain We’re gonna live the truth And pretend that it’s okay [Chorus] She's gonna bang her head like 1981 She's gonna bang her head like 1981 She's gonna bang her head like 1981 She's gonna bang her head like 1981

  15. Two random festival shows after 5 months off are the last place I expected them to pull out The Grouch after 14 years, Stuart after 7 years, Stuck With Me, and a new song. I’m happy that they appear to feel more comfortable ripping through some deep cuts in front of a (mostly) casual audience, but I wonder what changed in their mindset? It intrigues me after so many years of copy-and-paste setlists.

  16. I hope last night's performance was a shortened version because I am not a fan of 1:52 songs that have no variance.

  17. Sounds good! It's quite catchy, the lyrics don't seem to jump out to me as super stupid, so I'm happy haha

  18. Same sticker is on my 2009 version, you'd think they would have fixed that by now 😂

  26. During FOAM, I listened to all the artists Billie mentioned as an influence. I guess now I have to listen to every 1972 and 1981 album ever. I don't need sleep. For now, check out the top hits:

  27. It was the quietest moment of the show. Nobody understood what the hell was going on.

  28. Essentially, 1981 is the year before it all began for Green Day. 1982 would be the year Billie's father passed, Billie met Michael Pritchard. Billie would get Blue around this same time...... we could be looking at those stories through a rock opera perspective or even just standard song perspective. An actual prequel to American Idiot that is in some ways, MORE emotional than that record. I'm digging deep into his guitar lesson days with George Cole, wow. Blue was purchased from David Margen of Santana! If Green Day's next album is about Billie birth all the way up to his struggles in the American Idiot narrative.... WOW.

  29. So I have a file on my computer that is a list of every year that Green Day's existed showing that they always give us at least SOMETHING every year. They're a busy band. They don't stop. But with all this 1972 and 1981 business, I thought I could push the envelope a bit. As I prepare to make a video about this, I'm taking it all the way back to 1972, maybe even 71 when their parents were hooking up, haha! Okay, the parent thing is crazy. But I am working on the list of things the band has worked on every year from 72 to 2024. It's going to be insane!

  30. You don‘t have to be that early. Last year I arrived at 3pm for FOS in Groningen and before going to the stage I went to the merch which took me a long time. After that I went to the stage at 4pm and got the 2nd row at the catwalk.

  31. Finally listened to it the whole way through, and yeah it is just very average. Could be a catchy little bop, but nothing more. It does have the classic GD sound which is nice. Wish it wasn't so repetitive. Don't really have any thoughts on it further than that. Probably won't listen to it again until it gets released properly.

  32. It's quite the opposite actually, clips were FOAM outtakes and One Eyes Bastard was recorded later.

  33. Having sat with the song & footage from the festival for a day or so, i'm really not getting the hype. The song is bang average, at best. I don't like saying that because these guys are my favourite band. Hoping that the studio version is way better, but the chorus is just so middle of the road. RevRad was such a fantastic album & on that tour, Billie sounded at his best and the band were phenomenal. I don't know if the FOAM era has pushed his vocals to places they should never have been pushed to & now were seeing and hearing the aftermath of that in his live performances as of recent. It's a shame because he's always been renowned for being a great singer & Green Day one of the best live bands, ever. I wish I loved the song but i just don't. All being said, those little 8 second clips that leaked a couple weeks back sounded great. One Eyed Bastard was awful though (I know that was a foam b-side)

  34. It would be cool to have another show during the summer in Québec. I hope the next tour isn't gonna come here during the winter. It was literally the first time of my life I saw Green Day during the summer in Québec. It's better to be in line at 8AM during this time. Because in March/April it's a fucking nightmare. Can't wait for an announcement. We're closer than ever now!

  35. Because playing it at the FEQ only was a better decision!

  36. Billie (perhaps deliberately) didn’t even say it was a new song. Casual fans probably just assumed it was another deep track they didn’t know and forgot about it quickly thereafter. This is not meant for promotion. I think they just wanted to give something to the uberfans that would recognize it as new and also (possibly mainly) to try it out and see how it sounded live.

  42. That year concept I saw on Reddit gave me an idea. What if the album looked like this: ACT 1: 1972 1. 1972 2. Song about Billie's childhood 3. Political song about President Nixon and the Watergate Scandal 4. Song about a childhood friend of Billie's 5. Song about trashing disco 6. Homage to 70s punk groups ACT 2: 1981 7. 1981 8. Tribute to Billie's father 9. Song about Billie's friendship with Mike 10. Song about the band's origins 11. Song about Amanda 12. Love song about 80 ACT 3: 2020 13. 2020 14. Song about Covid 15. Song about Trump 16. Song about Biden 17. Song about Social Media 18. Song about hope for the future

  43. People on gdc: this band is boring they don't love us why they wait too long for drop new music. Also gdc when an actual new song comes out: I can't get the hype of the new song, never thought to say that foam was better, I don't like short songs, it's typical green day... 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈

  44. I mean it didn't bothered me 🤷‍♂️ I love new song now i wonder what will happen between now and the next show in 2 months. What's fun is at least I'm not gonna wait another 6 years to see them again.

  45. MTV was launched in 1981, I think it’s quite clear the song is about a girl seeing a music video for the first time and how it changed her life.
