Starting to think this side project thing is really the PHGP. Cometbus is in town. Maybe Jason White lied about them being back in a few years. It's probably closer.8 points

Well that's super disappointing if true. Never been fussed on Pinhead.7 points

there was never a confirmation that the three were involved. It was just a guess based on Mike's pick tagged on that studio Instagram stories3 points

I love how despite being ultimately screwed over by the underground scene, Billie and the rest of the band still hold so much affection for it and contribute in any way they can to media exploring it.3 points

Not a huge fan of PHGP stuff. Was really hoping for a new side project or more from Foxies.3 points

I remember a few weeks before the first 1972 teaser, Billie shared a mock Sweet Children album cover in his Instagram story and I think he said something along the lines of, "This would make a good album cover" or something like that.3 points

Assuming PHGP are writing the normal 3 chord, two minute songs, and not striving for 21st Century Breakdown levels of creativity, I can’t see the writing process taking too terribly long, especially if they’ve been doing it collaboratively over the past several months. PHGP normally hashes out a project in the studio in a couple of weeks; rarely does the entire recording process take any longer than that (source: https://dyingscene.com/ds-exclusive-jason-white-on-reissuing-pinhead-gunpowders-catalog-on-1-2-3-4-go-records-and-whats-coming-next/). Just speculation here, but I think Jason’s recent comments regarding new material “within the next few years” were a means to either dampen fans’ immediate expectations and/or maintain the surprise. If Aaron is indeed in the Bay, maybe they’ll put out an EP and play a few shows over the fall or winter, which would bridge the gap nicely to an expected 2024 Green Day release.2 points

But… I thought we knew Billie, Mike and Tre were involved in whatever’s coming and Mike and Tre have never had involvement with PHGP or is the timeline so confused now that they are only involved in the new GD album?2 points

Great intro. I love how, in spite of everything, he has so many vivid memories of so many shows and tours and experiences. Love his speaking voice too, soothing and warm. Thanks @pacejunkie punk2 points

GDA: News from Billie... he's in a new social media platform called Threads!!👍 Me: Guys... I barely check FB🙄. I suppose we get now another social media platform to... get news/teasers about 1972???🙄 P.S.: Am I the only who don't give a F¨¨k about these SM platforms??? Or is it just that next year I'll be 40??? or... both???🙄2 points

I think Green Day are changing their name BACK to Sweet Children, and Mike Dirnt is leaving the band. Now THAT would be wild.2 points

I thought the exact same thing😆 I had no idea there was a social media platform called Threads. Just what the world needs, another one of those🙄 Think I'm getting old.2 points

My guess is that 1972 was maybe something like a working title during the recording process, and as it grew and matured, it developed into something else. 1972 could mean it's a very personal album, reflecting on their past, present and future? Might we even get a self-titled album this time? Whatever it is, I'm starting to get excited again. 2024 isn't too far away now, time flies... In my experience, there are tons of young/new fans at the Green Day shows I went to so far. I've hardly seen a band that is able to bring the generations together the way Green Day does. I always love that about GD shows. So I don't think we (GD fans) are an endangered species 😛2 points

Although Dookie was and continues to be their best selling album (from what I've heard?), American Idiot is the album with the most impact on pop culture and their most recognizable. I could see them (or the record company) pushing the album back fo a 20th anniversary kind of a thing.1 point

Maybe it's not gonna be called 1972 but it's still look like it's gonna be something about their life/career.1 point

yeah, and that is a good thing, because Billie's side projects are always the best ones. If it's not FBHT, than Longshot or PHGP would be the best stuff that we could get right now1 point

I hope it's a brand new side-project coming soon. But of course I'm stoked for Pinhead, I just can't see that coming out anytime soon if they're currently writing.1 point

That’s the content of the story Billie posted, meaning that you are not getting that YouTube screen/warning message, Billie took a screenshot of it and posted it as a story 🙂1 point

How about we just wait until we know what the album name is before changing the name. I don't think anyone actually cares enough to change the name of the thread to "Album 14 speculation"1 point
-
C’mon, it’s Billie Joe, same who said we were gonna have a Forever Now video. Still waiting though 😂1 point

They clearly aren't rushing with this album and tbh it makes sense because there's nothing to be in a hurry for. They were on a biggest hits tour last year and the year before that and whatever is coming next won't be much different, because they just put in an effort into estabilishing their position as a legacy act and that's the kind of thing they're going to continue with. Effective touring means a biggest hits stadium tour every few years, forever. They'll thow in a new album once in a while for a bit, until they won't. I personally feel like it's way too early for this, but it seems to be the approach they all can agree on and it's very time and cost effective.1 point

When it comes to Billie on social media I've always lived by two rules. RULE number 1 - Don't take anything serious Billie says on Social media. RULE number 2 - ALWAYS remember rule number 1.1 point
