Does this mean FOAMF wasn't that bad ? Since warners allowed it 😀 In all honesty I enjoyed that album.. idk why 80% of the fans hated it4 points

I was wondering about it, but Jason said this new PHGP would be released in the next few years... So, maybe he was misleding us to keep the surprise? I would love a new Pinhead album4 points

didn't he said in a few years? We talked about it in the podcast thread.4 points

I hate that Threads is owned by Zuckerberg but twitter is also near unusable for me now. I can barely look at the replies of any post without without finding dipshits and bigots with blue checks who instantly are at the top of any post Basically, twitter is only tolerable for me when I'm reading posts from people I follow. As soon as I click "For you", it just makes me want to die4 points

They could at least make some sort of announcement that the album or whatever has been delayed. That's not uncommon and I think people would be pretty understanding and happy to just have some sort of update.4 points

When @Sanity Loan stated earlier that GD don't control when the next album is released, it's down to the record company, (RC). I thought wtf, who do they think they are telling GD what they can or can't do. When I looked into it I realised my total ignorance of just how it all works. Without boring everyone with contract law, it's basically down to cost, profit and loss and most importantly risk and who covers that risk. Recording, producing, manufacturing, distribution of your record costs money, lots of it. The RC covers that and even advances you money to live on in the meantime. If the album is a bummer and flops and the money invested is lost, the RC takes the hit. The artist/band is not legally responsible for the loss and owes the RC nothing. The RC makes money on Royalties, the money made from record sales, promotions, etc. The RC can claim anything from 60% to 90% of royalties to pay back the advance before the band members get anything. It's all down to contract negotiation. If your not careful the RC can own you. It will control and own the masters of your music, control when an album can be recorded and released, when you can do interviews, radio shows, TV appearances, videos, tours, the lot. And in some cases if they don't think the record is good enough send you back to the studio to start again. Recently major artists like Taylor Swift and Gary Barlow, have been fighting back to change the law. To allow an artist/band to have more control, in particular the long term ownership of the masters. You could say fuck it, I've got my own studio, I'll start my own record label, I'll do it all myself. Cool, but you take risk, if it fails........4 points

Respect your view. We all have different views even about the same band(s) we like, and that's cool. For me phgp are second only to GD. I fell in love with them back in '91. Jason White joined them in '93. Carry The Banner, Goodbye Ellston Avenue and PG ep, are, imho stunning and classic albums, and just blow me away every time I play them. After a 5-year wait, they released the ep West Side Highway in 2008. Two new songs where added to re-release of Compulsive Disclosure in 2010, but alas that was to be the last to date of new stuff. The Japan version of compilation album Kick Over The Traces in 2009, was a double album, which included 23 live tracks recorded at Gilman Street, oh man, amazing. It was a sad time in 2012, when original member Sarah Kirsch died of Fanconi anemia. So Jason seems confident they will definitely be coming back. A few years maybe, we've been waiting 13-years, I'm sure it will be worth the wait Good look Jason with the project. It's gonna be awesome I'm sure. ❤️3 points

Oops! Twitter has spit it's dummy out of the pram. It's threatening legal action against Meta's Threads. There's gonna be a fight. lol.3 points

The wait has been so long it's getting to the point that I forget GD are even working on new music. Honestly, I don't care if I have to wait, but we could've done without the teasing then. I understand that maybe they figured the album or whatever they were working on would be ready sooner than they thought, but I'm really tired of bands announcing new projects and then just sitting on them (looking at you blink-182). If it's not close to being done, don't say anything then. I'd rather be surprised and have a firm release date to give me something to look forward to. This long game of will they won't they is really tiring. Luckily, I have other albums to look forward to this year as GD fades to the back of my memory,3 points

What the hell is Threads and why did I thought Billie has posted in a thread on GDC this morning?3 points

What have we got? A number of teases some with short music clips all instrumental. They will sound so different once vocals are added. There's two a few second long leaks deemed GD, with vocals. We've no idea if they are related to the new album or not. Nothing we've listened to so far remotely indicates a leaning to a rock opera as you call it. Imho, overall we've no idea what the new album will sound like. For me that's cool, we're just gonna have to wait and see what we're gonna get. I love surprises. Can't wait to be excited.2 points

I am trying to resist getting more and more of these, but if he’s actually going to use this one and like he used to use Twitter then I may have to! Still holding out against TikTok though 😁 I see it’s not in Europe for now so that sorts that.2 points

If they really want to fuck with Warner they should just play their entire new album on July 14th and 16th.2 points

I can’t get on, I assume because I don’t have the app but am seeing this post or ones like it from a number of people this morning. For those without IG, it seems to be a screenshot from Threads of Billie Joe’s account and his comment “now what”. https://instagram.com/stories/greendaynews/3140561526891799659?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igshid=Y2I2MzMwZWM3ZA==1 point

Threads is stupid because it takes far more data than you from Twitter and also if you wanna delete the account... you have to delete your IG as well. I'm sure that won't be an issue for Billie though, considering how many times he's done so in the past.1 point

Tom Petty had his first solo album rejected by MCA initially. It wasn't until there was some executive-level turnover that he tried again and they loved it. Granted, it was the same album that eventually got released. But that's just one example.1 point

At the 2 festivals next week, I wonder if Billie is going to bring back his 1972 vest!!!1 point

I don't think a RC has control over what a band should and should not release. They might decide release dates but that's about it1 point

I wonder if we will eventually know the behind the scenes situation once the album drops. There could be no issues. No delays. Just Green Day taking their time. Or it could literally be any kind of life stuff ranging from good, bad, neither....just life stuff that comes up. Billie, Mike, Tre or any of their family.....could be anything.1 point

We've been reliably informed that the album was finished last month, June. We also now know that GD do not control the release date, it's down to Crush the record co. (RC). We've speculated loads about the delay and why. Was is post COVID issues, etc. Or maybe something we've not considered. This is pure speculation, reckless even. I've no proof. But, what if it's the record company's doing. When GD originally had a plan for an EP of was it 6 songs, that got dropped. Did the RC say no not good enough, it won't sell? When the teases stopped last August. Where GD ready to go. Did RC say no again go back to studio, we want more? So, it's not GD keeping us waiting and in the dark, it's the RC?1 point

What? The only actual evidence we have is that the record is coming out next year. That's one year, not multiple.1 point

Only possible similarity could be the description from Aaron Cometbus in his book, "in China with GD". He described the 21st C Asia tour in 2010, as an entourage. With all the engineers, security, catering staff and many others, akin to a travelling circus. But wow, Quebec could be something really special. And you will be there. Whatever it is, I'm sure it will be amazing, and you will enjoy every minute. Hopefully, you will be able to give us a full account. Subject to your levels of alcoholic consumption. 😏1 point

Green Day being Punk Rock, that would be the day. What if they played the next album in full and then....didn't play Basketcase? Oh man. I think Johnny Rotten would change his mind about Green Day and proclaim them the new kings of Punk Rock.1 point

Jason confirms that new Pinhead Gunpowder material is in the works. Is there ever going to be any new Pinhead Gunpowder? Jason: "Well, funny you should ask. Yeah, let me just say we're working on it. I'm pretty sure you'll be hearing new Pinhead Gunpowder soon... in the next few years." I assume you'll sing a few? Jason: "I will try... I'm working on it right now, to be honest."1 point

Its almost like the record company want to do what is the best thing financially as opposed to what the band and fans want.1 point
