I was still optimistic. The thing about the record company having control over the release date is weird. I mean at the start of January 2023 GD management told the FEQ that they were touring for a new album. And 5-6 months later that's not the case anymore... Anyway. I'm seeing them in 12 days and I'm sure the same setlist will be back.

I know we said they're not playing between July 16th and September 24th but it's getting late to announce shows for August...

As much as I want new material, I want it to be ready when it comes out. I don’t want them to force it out prematurely because of fan pressure (as if they would cave to us like that). That being said, I do wish it were ready already.

On the one hand everybody complains about GD's marketing decisions, on the other hand everybody complains about the fact that GD can't put out music whenever they want. Guys, be happy that Warner has control about marketing and the release schedule 😅 I mean, the last album was a commercial flop, it's not such a big surprise that the label is interested in doing better this time (and hopefully it will)

It fucking sucks to know even a band as famous and iconic as Green Day are screwed over by their record companies as well. I can't find it but I remember a tiktok Florence Welch made where she basically revealed how shitty the studio execs of record companies are and even if you make an extremely popular song or record the singer and other creatives involved get very little money for it. Between this, the third season of Owl House getting shortened + cancelled, the writer's strike, and the Mattel exec who wanted to get rid of a pivotal scene in the new Barbie movie I'm really starting to hate executives.

You're not a legacy band if you can't release whatever the fuck you want.

"Early 2024" is between January 1st and April 30th. There are only 7 Fridays within this timeframe, so we can calmly speculate GD14 to release on one of the following dates: January 5th or 19th. (they've never done a January release) February 2nd or 16th. (My fake money is on 2/16/24) March 1st, 15th, 29th. (they've never had a March release) April 5th, 19th. (39 Smooth was in April, and they ARE feeling nostalgic....but nothing exists in their mind from this era. so no) February 16th, 2024, Midnight, Our Time !

Warner Bros seems to be having a rough “transitional period” since being bought by Discovery. Not sure how that affects the music side of things or if it does.

Does that not depend on the circumstance or the contract with the record company. If it's a band/ artist's debut album, or past sales have been poor, the record label would not want to release an album that coincides with a release from a well known and popular band/artist. Thereby affecting sales. Whereas with GD being a very popular & well known band would if matter. Also, GD would want a say in a release date? Unless, of course your intimating that the contract, with the record company, states they have the final say? I remember reading about the early days when Lookout Records decided when GD EPs/LPs where released.

Shame that this far into their career they are still this handcuffed.

Joey’s most recent dog was Axel and he took him to London. I think he was still living at home when they got Basie and she stayed with the pack she was really a family dog. He got Axel when he moved out.
