  1. I think it’s a good song, don’t get the most negative comments going around here. As far as I understood this has been recorded within the Network sessions or around that time, which would make sense, I think there is quite a gap from FOAM style-wise. Probably not a masterpiece, but a good catchy track. If the song is not part of 1972 and they were to play this smart, they should release the song officially, make the lyrics about the hacker who stole the thing, and make a music video/mini-marketing campaign around that concept, would fit perfectly 🙃

  3. Some FOAM positivity for us FOAM enthusiasts. https://tapeop.com/interviews/138/butch-walker/ Billie Joe was burned out in producing Green Day records himself for so long, and was ready to do something different. When Butch told him he wanted to produced something new and fresh, Billie Joe was on the same page, desperate for a change. So there we have it, not a troll. Even if you despise FOAM and think it's worst garbage ever, FOAM was simply a way for the band to stretch their artistic wings, getting out of their comfort zone. I hope that Billie is enjoying the process this time around and that he makes no compromises in the music he wanted to make.

  9. A number of us have already said they do like it. And as we know GD only make either good or really good songs. As Mike said, "Listening to GD is like sex. When it's good, it's really good. When it's bad, it's still pretty damn good." 🤪

  12. OEB Lyrics- 1/10 Music-7/10 Production -,7/10 Vocals-7/10 Overall -5/10 If this is the direction they're going with album 14, I'd say we're in for a treat. Although i do hope Billie writes better lyrics

  13. i had to really put in a few extra steps than normal when searching for such things, but i found the entire track. ...i have thoughts... the song is pretty simple and straightforward. zero bullshit. no fat, no filler. not cheesy or corny like P'anna/HCTS. it DOES bite that P!nk riff. not even hard, just entirely. part of me suspects this is intentional on Billie's part, in all occurrences. minimal (for GD) everything. and kinda tough sounding. bravado and cojones abound. a nice hi hat shuffle time signature that is a small departure from the 4/4 or 2/4 beats Tre typically plays. if this is the direction things are going, FUCKIN EH. bring me a record that has this GD and not that fuckin Pollyanna, Here Comes The Shart, sunshine and Prozac fuckery and i'll GLADLY wait til next year for it.

  14. The riff sounds like Pink’s “So What”.. i hope this isn’t for the new album and was a FOAM demo and that’s all. It’s a good B side at best. The 1972 teaser clips sound much better than this in my opinion. The song Billie posted as an instagram story and then deleted a while back showing a mixing desk and this emoji 😈 was miles better. But yeah final verdict on One Eyed Bastard is it’s not the worst song I’ve heard but nowhere near Green Days best.

  16. We've managed to get to 400 pages without basically any info. I'm sure there will be a bunch of random "insiders" at some point claiming that singles are coming really soon and leaking fake tracklists. That will keep this thread alive

  17. Song is ok but even though we all are Green Day diehards is this really that good? I think at best it’s a b-side but won’t and shouldn’t be on the new album or be a single. Lyrics are meh…better than Pollyanna and here comes the shock…I like Holy Toledo but do we really think this is so good it should be a single on their next album??? I feel it was a leftover from FOAM/The Network era…maybe they are re-editing it and that’s why it’s blocked but as a song I don’t think it’s worth the long wait period it’s ok but I don’t think it’s good enough to be a single or an album track and I don’t think it will be since this allegedly was recorded years ago.

  18. So without One Eyed Bastard... Thread Dead. 😄 Album 14 was started in 2021. We got some teasers through 2022. Billie said it would probably come out 2023. Cavallo says 2024.

  23. No, I like it too. It’s fun and very catchy and snarly Billie is always good. Is it their most meaningful song, no but that’s fine, every song cannot be a masterpiece.

  26. I don't think it's gonna be 1972 related so maybe it can have is own thread. We all know this song has been leaked pretty much everywhere on the internet this morning. So what do you think after the first listen? For me I think it's a fun song. Okay. I can find some FOAM-y sound and some RevRad sound in this one. Anyway, what about you?

  31. Thanks for that, a really fascinating interview. I've always thought of FOAM as just escaping, just letting of steam. Maybe like going to an illegal rave and just loosing yourself. As the song title says "Let Yourself Go". Now with band's batteries recharged, back to reality and lets make album 14 something really special. Oh! By the way @That Dude thank you for a clearly understandable post, with clarity and easy to follow. Should have it framed.lol. 😁

  38. My remix lyrics: I'm making an offer you can deny cause hey oh cause hey oh hey oh I hear the bees get louder I bet you're gonna beg beg beg Friend of mine sweeter than wine I never have feelings get on your knees while kissing my ring kissing my ring kissing my ring tower mine sweeter than wine hey! badabing badaboom badaboom mamories quite so ugly hey oh wasted glad that you're all dead vendetta is a friend revenge is sweet your feelings get on your knees when kissing my ring badaboom badaboom laughing when you cannot deny you won't be pleased when I'm making you cry cry cause hey oh I'm making an offer that you can take louder you sob you're gonna beg and cower badaboom cause hey oh cause cause hey oh casue hey oh cause hey oh cause hey oh hey oh hey ouh casuse hey oh badaboom cause hey oh bada cause hey oh bada bing badaboom cause hey oh bada bada boom My favorite part is when I took the rhyme out of "vendetta is a friend. revenge is sweet". both lines slam to a hault and it just sounds awesome. Maybe songs shouldn't rhyme. my second favorite part is when I made it say "friend of mine / sweeter than wine" that line is so good, I just wanted to that part and build something from that. For discussion sake, this song seem even better while dissecting it. It's well written song. I do see the negative in the song, and it's mainly in the emotion. The song is angry and powerful, but there's not personal dilemma to attach to. There's not tearjerker moment. Maybe if there were some context as to what the anger or violence is about, we could feel something further. If this is in a storyline on a concept record, maybe it could be even better?

  41. Yeah, the more I hear it especially after re-listening to the whole of FOAMF for the first time in a while, the more I think it's a reject from that record. I had gotten very hung up on the fact that this was definitely not CLA and thought 'it's a demo then' but giving it a few more proper listens there's Butch Walker feeling production all over this - people have already mentioned the claps but as well as that I'm hearing that specific reverb sound panned to the right that was used a bunch of FOAMF, as well as that droning one-chord piano like on MMOTF, Junkies, and especially Teenage Teenager. The guitars and the way the drums don't sound quite right (hi-hat is way too loud/bright) also sounds pretty FOAMF, this is likely pre-final mix by Tchad Blake but had gone through some level of back and forth between GD and Butch before it was scrapped. Just speculation but that would explain why it was on Crush's servers to get stolen in the first place, since there was a lot of remote sharing for that album between them and Walker. I know this is a little off-topic for this thread (not that we have anything real to talk about anyway) but this does make me think - why scrap so much of Father of All? Considering we heard some of it on MM2020 it clearly wasn't because they didn't like the songs. Feels odd that they wouldn't have thrown a few of the extra tracks in as filler instead of releasing a 25 minute record, I'm pretty sure reception could've been a little better if there were a few more songs for people to fight over. Again I'm just making stuff up at this point but it's like Walker doesn't even really produce records, he just adds his level of sheen to tracks given and anything that isn't working gets scrapped. No pulling from demos to create interesting arrangements and bridges or last minute song additions a la 21CB 🤷‍♂️

  43. Oh right! I totally forgot that James Gandolfini was a HUGE Green Day fan so it could be! “He would play the vinyl of dookie in his trailer at work. Totally serious,” “Gandolfini would also sing basket case and make up his own lyrics about HBO and the writers and producers of the sopranos,” “He also named his dog dookie and used it in his email address.”

  49. Lmao time for another random lil GD-related story from my life: As some of you may know, I own a life-sized cardboard cutout of Billie, however I didn't take it with me when I moved out of my parents house so he's been standing in my parents' living room for the past two years. Well, my mam is getting let go from her job, so her boss went to her house to collect her work laptop and work building pass. My mam has never actually met her boss before as she didn't become her boss until after covid when people were working from home etc. So the boss walks into the house, and just instantly goes "Oh...Hello Billie Joe Armstrong" I always fangirl so hard when people know Billie by name rather than just "the guy from Green Day" lmaooo
