Green Day will announce “New single coming Sept 19th” and @GDFan2019 will still be like “I think a single is coming on August.”7 points
-
I just don't think it'll be called 1972. If they're making a documentary (speculation) to go along with it, I could see that being 1972 though.5 points

Promotion for the next tour. Maybe they thought the current tour didn’t sell that well but announce a breakup and a farewell tour? It will sell much better. And they could always “reunite” at any time4 points
-
If new album is being released early 2024, like January or February, then promotion could start by September the least. BUT early 2024 could mean April 30th too. So don’t surprise if get nothing for the rest of 2023 and we have to embrace that option too4 points

I am really looking forward to interviews about all the creative process behind the album3 points

CLA confirms expected 2023 release https://www.musicconnection.com/qa-with-chris-lord-alge/?fbclid=IwAR1NmGRmLJl0vfM3F8cfUCh7fqfksDDwDbP0md8OfqXH4X1DSEB827SlJZs The new Green Day record [expected in late 2023], (the band and I have really upped our game). As far as mixing, I’ve got the new Green Day record [expected out end of 2023] that we’re almost done with. It’ll probably come out toward the end of the year.2 points

IHeart is the perfect place to play a brand new song 😉 A song featuring Usher and Justin Beiber. "Oh Baby, Yeah!" They perform together for 5 hours as a big flashing wall of 1 Minute signs flash on all jumbo screens. Finally, Mike Dirnt tackles Jillie Bow, who is about to play "1972" for the 7th time. We get an announcement that Fat Mike is the new bassist for Green Day and Travis Barker the drummer.2 points

Yeah, I know... at this point of their career they’re like a senior dog to me. It’s not gonna run and jump around as much as it used to, maybe it’s gonna pee on the floor sometimes, but you still love your dog, you know2 points

Sun 41 are really disbanding. Breakup makes it sound abrupt and bitter. Sounds like they’re basically retiring.1 point
-
Sum 41 are breaking up, but not before they finish this tour, put out one more record and then tour on that for another year. Why bother saying anything now?1 point

Pail Harries Photographer posted this pic of Billie for the Coronation Not sure if that's the account I think you mean but last I knew it had a different name (I think it's had quite a few). I don't think this has been posted before1 point

We should probably change the name of this thread back to "Album 14 Speculation Thread", based on the speculation we heard about the possibility of a title change1 point

Well The Offspring released their single Coming For You in 2015 for their album Bad Times Roll in 2021.1 point
-
Dude that's not going to happen. September is probably the earliest we might get an announcement and/or single. And even if we do get a single in September, that probably means that there's going to be a pretty long gap between single and album. Because the album isn't coming until 20241 point

So I was listening to the radio this morning and I heard a commercial for this year’s iHeartRadio Music Festival and they said Green Day is going to be there!!! I wonder if that means anything, like, will we have a new single by then?1 point
-
I really and seriously hope they don't include songs like Pollyana on album 14. Anything but that plss1 point

i don't know, but something in this project tells me that this is something special, or at least the entire staff think that way. the team behind (Rob, CLA), they're taking their time with this. like polishing a diamond. the trilogy suffer so much with not taking the right time to mature ideas. i think something changed in july or august 22, wich cause them to stop teasing with the thought that this projetct will not be released so soon than they thought in the begining.1 point

You guys ever think about Billie feeling like both a cello and a toothache? I thought about it just now. 1972 is coming, guys.1 point
-
Just because it's taking a long time doesn't mean they're SPENT a long time on it. Could be one person holding up the other two. Is Dirnt getting his revenge for the pre-Idiot sessions, which spawned "Nobody Likes You"? Or is he in the studio drinking 10 cups of coffee, watching my YouTube channel since Spike is gone now and fuming about Bill and Frank again? 20 years and these idiots can't make it to work on time!!!! Aaaaaaaagh Maybe it's a good, personal reason or maybe the other guys are just not pressuring whoever it is. Just some speculation. I think even if there is a delay, the guys are putting the effort in.1 point
-
They haven't put this much time into an album since 21CB, which is sparking some interest in me, because it seemed Billie made it clear he wasn't interested in putting as much work into new music and I've changed my expectations accordingly, but perhaps this album is going to be subvert them1 point
-
I remember Billie saying something similar to "This is (some of) the best work we've ever done" referring to 21CB, the trilogy and RevRad. Whatever you think of those albums, it's clear that he says this kind of stuff basically all the time. Maybe he did believe that each of those albums were amongst the best of their material at that time but it doesn't necessarily mean anything. I don't recall him ever saying anything like that regarding FOAMF but I feel like if he was asked, he would probably have said something similar, whether he believes that FOAMF is a great album or not. He's not gonna say "Eh. You know. It's OKAY. Not the best". That's not going to excite people much for a new album cycle. I wouldn't think too much about other people involved with the album necessarily saying the same thing either.1 point
-
I was thinking that I was 29 when they first teased this album and I'll be 32 by the time they release it. Yes, green day 😂1 point
-
When has the band talked negatively of new work? 99 Revolutions was the best Green Day song according to Billie. It’s nice to hear they find this upcoming release special, but it’s no guarantee it is.1 point
-
I remember those early reviews of RevRad saying it sounded like old school Green Day, which well… was a bit misleading to say the least. That said, Bang Band was an amazing song / first single, so I can understand the hype and going by three very important metrics besides hearing the actual music, those being: - the extensive time the band has spent working on this album - the fantastic staffing (Cavallo/CLA) - the band’s own tremendous enthusiasm around it …I think we’re in for something big. Certainly bigger than FOAM, possibly the biggest thing Green Day have done since AI/21CB (fingers crossed).1 point

Tré from @bubukittyfk Green Day posted these photos of Mike on their Instagram story More Mike from @batmansmom Lastly one from Kevin1 point

For me the wait between AI and 21CB just seemed to go on forever and ever! We've had The Network and No Fun Mondays as well as FOAM and I'm just here waiting. I love GD but it will happen when it happens1 point

In response to the criticism levied at Green Day's recent marketing choices, I think there's real reason to be optimistic about it when their next album comes - whenever that may be. Did you guys see all the promotion for Fall Out Boy's newest album? I don't follow FOB on any social media platforms, yet I saw promotion for their album all over the place - hiding little packages for fans at landmarks in major cities, billboards in major cities, three short-notice intimate club shows, and pre-release listening parties at affiliated record stores with prizes, exclusive colored records, and more. Again, these are just things that I happened to see while browsing social media; I'm sure fans of FOB who actually follow the band can speak more on the promotion of the record. As Green Day and FOB are both under the same management, Crush, I would bet that the marketing for the next Green Day record will follow a similar strategy.1 point

I truly don't think they care about consistent engagement. Only when they have something meaningful to share will they engage. They are at the point in their career where they don't need to constantly be connected to fans and be at the forefront of peoples' minds. And they don't need to do it for the money at this point.1 point
-
True, but at least Blink has been giving album updates via Instagram and their Discord. Travis recently said they were wrapping up the album before the tour and that's at least better than nothing. Green Day could do some sort of update even if its news we don't want to hear.1 point
-
Hey @Sanity Loan maybe you'll get it right for the next album cycle with Green Day being the "focus of the summer"1 point
-
I was recently thinking about Blink having released their first single before finishing recording the entire album and thinking if Green Day should do the same... but I'd honestly hate to have such a huge gap between single and album like Blink is doing. Foos' approach of "here's the single, album is out next month" is way better IMHO. Hoping GD will do the same instead of what they did with FOAM.1 point
-
The question is why they’re so bad at marketing. It’s not like they’re new at this. To quote Dr. Evil “throw us a friggin bone here”.1 point
-
Yeah it’s all just poor marketing. I know we will all buy the record no matter what, but GD really doesn’t value a relationship with their fans like most bands do now. They still operate like social media isn’t a thing. Social media sucks in a lot of ways, but there’s plenty of data showing it increases fan engagement. Maybe Green Day just doesn’t care.1 point
-
I think it's safe to assume something changed pretty drastically during their process. That's totally OK. However, for the band to go completely dark after pretty consistently teasing is, in my opinion, not OK. They can account for delays by keeping up the teasing with a clear message that things are still on-going. Sure, they don't owe us crap and don't have to do anything, which has always been their stance. This is all on-par with their marketing ever since I've followed them so I'm not sure why I'm expecting anything different.1 point

Yay, another nine months of odd ramblings, drug-inspired fake tracklists, and talking in circles about the same stuff.1 point

I’m normally just a lurker here but I just wanted to clear some things up: 1. I’m not Jason Tate, I’m Jason Holmes but I did run greenday.net long ago. 2. I didn’t say my source confirmed that the album isn’t done, I said it kinda sounded that way and it also came across that way in the Cavallo interview 3. I only confirmed what Cavallo already revealed about the 2024 release date, it wasn’t some “insider” breaking news. 4. I really hate being called an “insider” 5. I would never put information out as fact that I didn’t believe was rock solid. If I had any doubt, I’d make sure to note that. If this info ends up being wrong it’s because they changed plans but I’m 100% confident it’s the current plan.1 point
