Over the past decade+, Billie Joe has had some custom guitar work like this done shortly before a promo cycle (tour, photo shoots, etc). What’s more interesting to me is that it is being done for an acoustic. We haven’t seen the acoustic much since the 21CB era tour, outside of “Good Riddance”.

Sometimes I worry that this website is giving me brain damage.

The last two times that I remember Billie getting one of these guitars customized by the same guy have been 1. Just about a month before the revrad was announced. 2. About a month before Hella Mega tour started. I’m pretty sure this is also the same guy the customized his silver sparkle junior too. I mean I’m not saying that tomorrow we’re going to have an announcement, but within the next 2 months I could see something happening.

Call me crazy but I swear Ultra Q's new video is referencing Green Day: At 1:33 it looks like the shot of Billie on the couch from Longview At 1:45 it looks like the shot of the band walking through the crowd from Kill the DJ 2:30 is a reference to WICA

Warning pt. II here we go 😄 But no what I'm actually thinking is continuing with the constant AI parallels they've got something a little Novacaine-ish on this one. Or even a ballad like WMUWSE/21 Guns that they're planning to introduce to the acoustic encore? 🤔

Thanks y’all. I went with WMUWSE. The playlist is we chaotic with his taste in music and the family’s inputs but I think that’s a good choice and just kinda fits. Plus it played while making the arrangements the other day.

It's going to be right after Basketcase. The band comes to a screeching (weezel) halt. Billie glares at everyone. After a long pause, he says "Green Day are breaking up" and they rip into "1972". Afte that, the set transforms into a new set list that is still a ton of hit, but completely fresh and exciting. Green Day don't break up, but Billie mentions it every show and GDC crashes every time we hear it. July, huh? I need to see the Green Day band again.

According to Google, Billie-Joe Armstrong is the guitarist AND vocalist of the band Green Day. If he's getting a new guitar, could that mean that we are to expect a new album soon?

I'm sure there's something worse I'm not remembering but (and I don't know if this counts) I do remember at the end of the Green Day show at Emirates screaming at the top of my lungs "I love you Green Day!" as they left the stage. Seems kind of embarrassing now!

My copy arrived few days ago. Thanks so much for posting about this, really appreciate it. What an amazing read. Not just about the Asia tour. He goes back to when GD first started and with drummer Al. To their first tour, the tiny venues with no stage, intimate detail of day to day living on the road. Then life with Tre on board. You can imagine being there with them. From nothing to eat to sleeping on an old mattress by a dumpster. Awesome.

I thought this was a “Haaave you met Ted” type of thread to hook up with the guys. Disappointing.
