Not a rule, but almost every band do it. It's very normal for american or european bands to leave south american or mexico at the ending of their tour. I doubt this is an exception, and it's not something only Green Day does

They released RevRad in october 2016 and they came to South America in november 2017, if they play in Mexico or South America in 2024 then the album is definitely going to be released in 2023

Someone on the other Green Day forum (the one that doesn’t forget to pay its bills) said some Mexican concert series accounts tweeted that Green Day is setting up a Mexico tour in 2024. They also said that means album is coming soon, although I’m not sure why that would indicate that.

Clearly the original 1972 that was recorded in London was a different project than what we’re getting now. The whole 1972 thing stopped around last August even though they continued working in the studio. I hope journalists are clued in enough when they interview them to ask what the story was and why this project seemed to evolve and take so long.
