I wanted to make thing clear so I asked my friend some clarification about the little details he told me and what he knows. I'm gonna use Google Translate for this conversation because it's faster. *Blue square is important* (the rest is him and me talking shit and taxes) ME: I need to know something because people are going crazy on the forum I frequent. The information you had was that they were really touring? Did you have a single or album date? Anything? HIM: No that's it, I don't have any dates apart from the July 16 show of course, but when they contacted us it was really for a tour of which consisted of a new album. So logically yes there should be at least one new song by July 16th. So that's it. You can have any questions you want, I don't have an answer lol. But I really believe an album will be out before July. That's just my guess. And my friend isn't a fan of Green Day either. I mean he and his team booked them but that's it. That's their job.9 points

I do think it will be better than FOAM. I can't help but feel that with Rob Cavallo involved, it raises the bar somehow. He seems to push them in ways that others don't. I'm not sure it will be of the caliber of AI, but it can't reach lower than FOAM... my hope is that it is a caliber above Revolution Radio, which I thoroughly loved.7 points

Yes, true. But I feel like some producers are glorified"yes-men". The best producers push an artist to be their best, or at least better. A good producer challenges and stretches the artist. Greenday at their best are brilliant, but at their worst, they can be mediocre. They are capable of both, and Billie, as we know, doesn't always take constructive criticism well, and if he is surrounded by people who are protecting his feelings, things can go haywire. I feel like Cavallo and CLA are better able to shape the genius and draw out the best in Billie's songwriting capabilities. Knowing when to leave a creative process alone to flourish and when to step in and offer suggestions is an art from in and of itself. So in that sense, I do think the producer matters.6 points

Hay positive thinking. I can see the headlines now:- "GD release new album. Following disappointing FOAM album, they are back with a bang. Critics claim it's a comeback to equal AI. Rave reviews, as the record is flying off the shelves. GD have done it again."6 points

Honestly even if the songs don't end up being great, it's just exciting to know that something new is just around the corner5 points

This thread has me way too excited. My main hope is the cryptic emoji message in Green Day’s tiktok hinting to A potential Easter timed announcement.5 points
-
Yeah I’m back to speculating because I’m excited. If @Little Boy Named Booze is playing an April Fool’s joke, I might never come back here again. Ah who am I kidding? I’ll be back.4 points

Butch Vig did a very good job with this too It's not 15 different emotions, but @DookieLukie does have a point. The way the emotions are distributed do look like an album tracklist, with a similar mix to their albums in the past: Tracks 1-5: High energy bangers 6-8: Fun and joyful 9-10: sweet and sentimental 11: sad 12: Fun and joyful again 13: love song 14: Angry ("I hate you" song?) 15: Funny or silly song (could be a short one for a final track, like a Tre song)4 points

Doesn't matter which producer is involved.. If the songs are good then it'll be good , if it's bad it'll be bad.. Hiring a top rated producer doesn't turn a fart noise into an orchestra4 points

In that Tik Tok post with the emojis, there are 15 cats with different emotions. 15 songs on the record? Each emotion pertaining to the feel of each song?3 points

They were already playing most of the Trilogy songs at club shows in 20113 points

Finally some kind of news! Even a tiny bit of something gets us excited again3 points

I could get behind those emojis!! April 7 -- album announced, new single dropped, and tour dates released June -- secret shows with rehearsal around LA... Tour starting in July. Album released in October. (My bday 10/13 still sounds pretty good to me!!! lol!!) Giddy up! 1972!3 points

Appreciate you getting a clarification. I think whatever is going to happen has to be soon if they’re selling tickets for a summer tour and I think those emojis were the hint it will be around Easter time. Other than that we just have to wait3 points
-
Not sure what effect this has but Kevin is playing a show at the Roxy in LA June 30th for Jesse Malin. Hard to do if he’s on tour this summer with Green Day (unless they’re playing in LA around that time too) 🤔 https://www.instagram.com/p/CqLTDDROXyn/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=3 points

I hate being the one having the info. I prefer being the one receiving it and getting excited. But it's kind of cool to have some scoop on my favourite band for the first time in my life.3 points

There are many, but I think the pinnacle of my embarrassing Green Day moments is when I got onstage, went the wrong way, fell over and looked like a zombie crawling out of a grave when I got up. But it was also my best Green Day moment so it's a happily embarrassing one I thought a dookie was a hoodie for some reason... and I did have internet access then. I also thought Minnesota was some kind of twirling technique (we weren't taught anything about the modern US in British schools then) and "Minnesota Girl" meant Adrienne was really into twirling. I can at least blame that on lack of internet access. We won't talk about what a lot of fans thought "holds my malachite so tight" meant.3 points

I don't think they'll announce anything on Easter Sunday, but I do think Monday is likely2 points

Here's my totally baseless idea of a timeline of events. Friday 7th April- Overt tease of Easter announcement- probably using Whoopsadaisy (The pink bunny) Sunday 9th April- Official announcement of new album, promo of the announced festivals, first single announcement date- talks of the album being a 'rebirth' of Green Day, hence the Easter announcement Friday 14th April- First single released with music video (featuring the actors who were rumoured to play the bands younger selves) Friday 2nd June- Second single released with lyric video Friday 21st July- Album released Saturday 22nd July- Thread for the next Green Day album starts on GDC2 points

As an example, in 2016, the single Bang, Bang was released Aug' 11. The album released Oct' 7. In between those dates GD played 6 venues. The first was Columbus, OH. GDA state first show of RevRad tour, before album release, Bang, Bang and RevRad songs played first time from setlist of 25. So now, with venues already booked for Jul' ,14 & 16. If as predicted single pre these dates and album post, maybe 2+ new songs along with the rest of setlist? On April 15, 2009 a secret show in Uptown Oakland, performed 21st C album complete day before first single with album released month later, May 15.2 points

Didn't they do something like a pre-album promo tour in 2012 where they played quite a lot shows before the release of Uno? Maybe they do that again, go on promo tour before the album release (with 1 or 2 new singles) and then in Fall they release the album and go on world tour in 2023/20242 points

Just speculation based on their last TikTok (posted on the last page). References to juggling a calendar and Easter, tour bus, etc.2 points

Maybe the tour start in Canada in July? I don't know. I really don't know. But we finally have a show in Canada during the summer 😂 Last 3 times was during the winter.2 points

I have no knowledge of a date. It's a speculation. But logically that's what going to happen. If they are touring for a new album then they need to have at least a new song by the festival in July lol Between now and July isn't a date.2 points
-
I don't think there would be a huge gap between the single and the album this time, like the September/February FOAM timeframe. Don't forget the secret shows where they play their new albums from start to finish2 points

Have you been asleep the past 15 months and missed all the studio/new music teasers? Shout out to @Little Boy Named Boozefor providing some actual news (as opposed to hundreds of pages of absolute nothingness lol).2 points

They have but mods are deleting as unverified “news” posts are not allowed there. Pretty lame tbh.1 point

It seems like a lot of this news is based off of assumptions and very little is actually confirmed so I’m going to stay skeptical.1 point

Plus in 2016 they were on promo Tour for RevRad in EU without playing shows, only for interviews and TV appearances like Fall Out Boy did this year (except the shows in England)1 point

I'm still embarrassed to admit something that happened back in '94. In Feb' that year I got my hands on Dookie full of excitement. My first question though was, wtf's a Dookie? My only defence was back then in Liverpool, well everywhere really, there's no internet, social media, Google, nothing. In April the awesome Offspring album Smash came out. My first question was, wtf's a dweeb? Thought it was a cool word so started calling everyone a dweeb. Fortunately, a soon found out what Dookie means. If I'd started calling everyone a Dookie I would have been in erm, erm, deep shit. Which I was when everyone found out what a dweeb meant. 😁1 point

Hadn't heard Still Breathing in a while and I don't care what anyone else says, it's one of Green Day's best, most genuine and emotional songs, and it was great live. I remember thinking that Still Breathing and Forever Now at Hyde Park were some of the best performances of Billie's I'd seen. RevRad was a great record. Tempted to finally get a Still Breathing tattoo if I've got any money left over at the end of my next holiday 👀1 point

For some reason I just didn't read the title of this thread and didn't even realise that was Rob, I've never seen him without hair before 😅 He's looking pretty good for 60 tho!1 point
