I can’t post pictures here but there are a bunch of posts going around IG and Facebook from a show last night in Hollywood (a Led Zeppelin tribute band) and from different posts and photos it looks like Billie, Kevin, Jason W and Rob Cavallo were there. So if they’re all hanging out I just wonder if they’re in LA for work reasons

I’m just kind of shooting in the dark here but maybe they’re in LA for rehearsals or something? I can’t really think of a reason that Kevin and Jason would be hanging around during the recording/mixing/mastering process, if the band was still working on the album. Also Billies Guitar tech Hans shared that post 2 weeks ago that looked like they were in a rehearsal space. That picture could have been taken before Tempe but I don’t see why he’d post it a week after the show. Just a thought though. Also, if anyone remembers going back to 2016 they were doing rehearsals a few weeks before they even announced Bang Bang.

But can we really expect a documentary? They did it for AI for sure but released it later. These younger versions can be actors for shooting an extended music video where they represent the early days and their career which leads to the present days or something. Maybe they started shooting back where they took the photo with them but the album wasn‘t finished so they hold it back for the right time to release. But I think the silence is a good sign because they have nothing to post in the studio. Just keep an eye on Billies Insta profile. He‘ll come back for the album

Not sure if I've ever put my 2 cents here but here is what I've thought myself regarding "Album 14". So I know a few of us saw those instagram posts that looked like they were acting as younger versions of Green Day when they were kids or whatever, so there is no doubt in my mind that there will be a documentary regarding the history of Green Day through the eyes of them. And I think because of this film that could be why we aren't hearing as much from the band and it feels like it might be being delayed because of it. But obviously there is still the possibility they are still working on the finishing touches of the album, maybe on top of waiting for that? Maybe they are back because they have the spare time to do so? I still just think it is quite strange as we have said that there has been NO teaser or anything "direct" since August, which is quite frustrating. But I know it'll be amazing once we see them premiere a brand new song live or we see a single get released of some sort. Regarding the film, it is also theorised that they are documenting the process like they did with AI and the Trilogy because of how the teasers were shot, which makes me think if they are doing both a documentary on the process of Album 14 and a film with the history of Green Day, or whatever those kids were filming for was just made as a small skit in the documentary as a sort of "flashback thing". Again, all speculation (I'm sure I don't need to say that but I don't stick by anything I believe here fully). Green Day is really testing our patience with this that's for sure, I'm sure it'll all be worth it and that they'll announce a big tour hopefully and they won't play the same old shitty Hella Mega setlist that we've had to suffer with for ages. Would love things to have just a little more variety, I really do not know how they can't just switch up at least the order somewhat with how they play. For now, I (and we) are begging for just the SMALLEST insider info at least, or someone to see Billie and maybe even get some insider on if it's happening soon. I feel like everyone here is slowly going mad these past 6+ months with barely anything of substance, unless you count the #not1972 stuff. Anyway that's about it from me, really hoping something appears soon as I feel we all do but I hope this wait is for the best and we get a great result in the end. Reminder that the teasers from the stuff we did see at least to me, sounded fucking amazing. But we'll just have to wait and see!

Literally the only reason I kind of like that song is because Billie plays the piano on it, and that is a very rare thing to hear on any of their songs. Usually if a song has any piano/keyboard in it, that's Jason Freese. Granted, it's veeeery simple piano, but just the fact that it's Billie playing makes me fangirl a little bit because it's my favorite instrument.

I hope so. It’s only the last tour that they sold tickets a year or more out but that was unusual. I suppose there’s still time to announce a tour in April and start shows in June

Hopefully they’re learning and rehearsing the new songs for the next tour but it’s odd otherwise since there are no shows scheduled for months as of now

And hopefully that means we’d get a summer single. And I’m sure they have the release date already set in stone. They’re just waiting for the right time to announce it

That’s what I’m thinking they are up to. We had no idea in July of 2016, when Billie shared a pic from rehearsals, that they had tour dates planned for September. I guess what I’m trying to get at is when things start moving they start moving pretty quickly. They could have other dates easily planned for this summer and I feel like they could wait to announce them until the end of April or early May if they wanted to. I think that’s around the time when Blink 182 announced the California tour in 2016 and it started in July.

No photos of them at least but that’s not really the point. They could have been in LA together for work and then a bunch of them went out that night. Jason doesn’t live in LA for example so just interesting they are all there.

July announcement/august single/October release

I'm with @pacejunkie punk this is spot on and it's a benchmark to work with. Even if March does not work out, a positive view of an April announcement would realise the popular view of an October release. Sorry I'm confused. Wouldn't they have to have finished recording before arranging the album's tour, considering what's involved form the above list? You wouldn't want to rearrange dates if there's an unscheduled delay to the album release maybe?

If I may contradict you though, the teases we've had so far give no indication of your point of view. Granted each one is just a few seconds of mainly instrumentals. I still reckon it's gonna be the next level up from the three musketeers, AI, 21st C, and Rev Rad. Get ready to have your ears blasted.

I wonder if there have been behind the scene delays, or if this has been the plan the entire time. I hope that nothing comes up that hinders the promotion of the next album. Starting with the Trilogy, some kind of problem arises that takes attention away from the music, and it really sucks. It's never been that the album is bad. Billie's meltdown, health issues, global catastrophe. In 2023, I wish nothing but a healthy band and healthy fanbase. I think we all let other people's opinions or even made up opinions to influence how we feel about certain records. Maybe I like the Trilogy and FOAM so much just to be contrarian poophead. I don't know. But let's try to go into the new record with absolutely no misconceptions good, bad or mediocre. Not even with our high Green Day expectations. Listen to the record and feel however you want about it.

Back in early '90s, most of the technology we have today was either in its early stages or did not exist. No smart phones, laptops, tablets. No way to stream or download music, no social media, and no internet at we know it now. So other than records and the music press, what was available globally to communicate music? MTV. The music video was the in thing for bands to present their music visually to get noticed. Following the tragic and sad loss of Kurt Cobain, there was a sort of music vacuum, and Grunge was getting tiresome. There were many bands around making music videos. A was well into The Offspring at the time and their videos. With the release of Dookie, the first music video I saw from them was Longview. The GD lyrics to live by, now visually presented as a story, came alive, even became reality and you lived it even more. This was new, this was attitude. And the ending, where Billie Joe trashed the couch, and shredded it with a knife, this was punk. And that's what you wanted to be. GD has made loads of music videos, I've downloaded around 70 videos, but not sure if that's complete. Today they still tell a story but are much more elaborate. So, my question is, do you have any interest in GD music videos, and if so, which is your favourite. It's as difficult choosing a GD video as choosing a favourite GD song. For me although Longview is special coz it was my first. I'd go for 21st Century Breakdown. I think it won an award, not sure. An amazing video.

So many random Trilogy thoughts in my head. Take a look of this legendary setlist from Webster Hall 2011: What makes me extremely curious about this setlist is that this setlist says Hybrid Moments was played as 9th, which seems odd when you look the video from it. From it you can clearly see how Billie's facepaint is coming off and how he is extremely sweaty at this point already. Billie Joe sweats a lot, but in 2011 it was very uncommon for him to sweat that much after playing few songs. Sure, it's a club show, but footage from Red 7 shows how he is still looking dam fine after playing 16 songs. Because I'm really familiar with Cuatro due to watching it way too many times, I decided to go check footage from Makeout Party (listed as 15th song). Notice how his facepaint looks almost the same as in Hybrid Moments. https://imgur.com/wOlDpTW Alright, sure. His makeup could look exactly the same after 6 song gap (roughly over 20 minutes later if setlist before that would be correct). I could be wrong (and odds are that I am indeed wrong) but it was fun to analyze the footage. Speaking of analyzations and assumptions.. WAS DIRTY ROTTEN BASTARDS PLAYED IN WEBSTER HALL? I'm gonna go with simple no as answer. I can't prove it, but I can explain why I think it wasn't. Green Day has released a lot of footage from these secret shows through various ways (documentary, teasers, those making album clips and so on) and in Cuatro's case, they showcased a lots of live footage of Trilogy songs that have not been released in full. I'm 100 % sure Sweet 16 and Ashley were both played, but both of those songs were played in shows where people didn't film that much (and were both smaller than Webster Hall) and Cuatro annoyingly didn't include any footage from those songs and IIRC didn't even play them at all. Gabriella and State of Shock share the same fate. This leaves us with Baby Eyes, Sex, Drugs & Violence and Dirty Rotten Bastards. I'm actually amazed that Baby Eyes has never been performed live. Not even a riff of it has been played. It was included in Demolicous and clearly they liked it enough to include in Dos! but for whatever reason they never played it live. I guess they deemed it as too weak or whatever, but even Ashley was done live. Interesting stuff. Same confusion can be shared with Sex, Drugs and Violence. They played it before/after Webster Hall and it's a catchy tune, but I guess Mike really didn't want to sing that jesus line live. Dirty Rotten Bastards was on written setlist that was also posted on internet, but this leaves me with a question. Dirty Rotten Bastards was heavily included in Cuatro! (two times, which only Wow! That's Loud beats with 3 times); surely they would have included even a small clip of them actually playing it live? They had this beautiful dynamic of showing these songs being made in their practice room and then actually playing it live (Oh Love was beautifully done this way) so surely DRB would've received the same treatment? It's over a 6 minute song. No short audio clips, nothing in Cuatro, nothing in Tre! announcement teaser, nothing ever since. What do you think, was DRB played live? Was Hybrid Moments actually played as 9th song on Webster Hall?

Random Green Day live performance thoughts are random. This is the best live performance of She in E Standard. Shibuya performance from the same year comes close thanks to the solo Billie Joe added to it (press this if you haven't heard it yet) but I still prefer Reading's high energy. Murder City with Billie's own intro and in Eb Standard was much better than album version or other E Standard performances. If you're tipsy and happen to be in concert, this is the best song Green Day has ever produced and nothing else comes even close to it.
