Surely we've covered absolutely every single topic that it's possible to cover in this thread now, right?7 points

I really don't understand the dislike towards to Sweet 16. It's a cheesy but beautiful love song from Billie to Adrienne and its guitar sound is very unique. Solo is also great with all of woah's during it. I'd say it's pretty harmless and I could name dozens of songs that are by far worse than Sweet 16. One of the biggest problems with Here Comes the Shark is its unoriginality. It's like a computer generated Green Day song with ''rumble in the streets'' and ''bloody murders'' lines being re-used. However, even with all of that, song could've been somewhat enjoyable but the fucking SNIFF. It's the worst idea Billie/Green Day/anyone has ever had. It literally ruins the song to the ground that it's impossible to enjoy it, so that's why I've always preferred my own edit that removes that damn sniff. Vocal effects or drum sound are not even top 5 issues with the song, but I agree that it would be cool to hear clean vocals without any unnecessary filters for a change. Keep the reverb, noise gate and (small) compression but remove everything else. Billie's voice doesn't need it.6 points

Metallica bought their own vinyl pressing plant https://consequence.net/2023/03/metallica-vinyl-pressing-plant/ I honestly had this idea myself with regards to Green Day when it seems every release has had a huge manufacturing delay. Why don’t they just press their own vinyl? Then Metallica went ahead and did it for that very reason4 points

I can’t bear the thought that we could be doing this another six months without a word from the band other than the occasional festival announcement.3 points

Billie actually explained the meaning himself: “Know Your Enemy is about empowering yourself, like within yourself. There’s no specific enemy out there. It’s just trying to stay engaged and educated to the world - being able to read between the lines and figure out what the bullshit is, but also trying to find the truth.” (source)3 points

I swear to God the only thing that gives me hope now is BJA saying that the album is coming in 2023 last year. I fear plans may have changed2 points

According to billboard, Green Day grossed about 182 Million Dollars from touring in their career. That's an interesting article about Hella Mega: https://www.billboard.com/pro/green-day-fall-out-boy-weezer-hella-mega-tour-boxscore-earnings/2 points

I think they don't wanna deal with that level of logistics to do that. Besides Green Day doesn't sell the volume that Metallica does, so they aren't in the hurry to make any vinyl. If someone in the band was like Lars who has the vision to make the band a huge business probably we would see that long time ago, and all those things that come with it (Boxsets, live shows in audio/video of every show, an active YouTube channel). What we got: a coffee company2 points

I saw this, saw Green Day and got excited for a zecond only to be disappointed it's something to do with government2 points

Or they weren’t asked to play. I can’t stress this enough: “gonna be a long time until the weather is warm again”. That’s all it meant, bro.2 points

I want to like this 1000x. Thank you. That sniff is nails on a chalkboard (especially with headphones) and makes the song completely unlistenable. And I actually believe an AI could have written a better song.2 points

Awww! Thanks, you guys! It's good to be back! I've had a lot going on and big changes in my life (overall good things, though), so I've been quite preoccupied. It's nice to see that you're all still here too!2 points

When it comes actual real theories and ideas to what is going on with the album? Yeah I'm positive we have covered every base. But wild speculation is fun1 point

I suppose it depends on venue, and number of fans attending. There's also costs to venue promoter etc, I assume. Found my ticket for Milton Keynes 2005, £28.50. From memory prices varied over two nights and where you are within MK bowl, guessing though. So 60,000 fans there abouts for each night, x 2 nights x average price = £3.4 million? I think, is that right?1 point

How much money does Green Day make from one show? Is it split evenly three ways? Man, the setlist staleness has me bummed, even with such energetic shows. At this point, merely adding Stray Heart or Oh Love would be such a massive upheaval of society on Earth, I'd freak out!!! So many bops from the last 5 albums and no performances.1 point

They‘re writing songs with space for your own interpretation very often. But I never thought about the iraq war tbh. He said many times to figure out YOUR enemy like you quoted above.1 point

What Billie said at the end of the show kind of implied they would be performing there again. "It's gonna be a long time until next summer!!!"1 point

Totally agree. The leaks from the club shows made it sound great but it's such a disappointment on the album1 point

A sign that they’re playing nothing but festivals and greatest hit setlists from here on out?1 point

Seems weird to use that logo on the poster. Guessing it's a placeholder.1 point

I wonder if there have been behind the scene delays, or if this has been the plan the entire time. I hope that nothing comes up that hinders the promotion of the next album. Starting with the Trilogy, some kind of problem arises that takes attention away from the music, and it really sucks. It's never been that the album is bad. Billie's meltdown, health issues, global catastrophe. In 2023, I wish nothing but a healthy band and healthy fanbase. I think we all let other people's opinions or even made up opinions to influence how we feel about certain records. Maybe I like the Trilogy and FOAM so much just to be contrarian poophead. I don't know. But let's try to go into the new record with absolutely no misconceptions good, bad or mediocre. Not even with our high Green Day expectations. Listen to the record and feel however you want about it.1 point

What makes you think that? The band not saying anything recently about the album really isn't an indication of anything. I love your enthusiasm but I just don't want you to get your hopes up and then get disappointed when they release a 30 minute, 10 song "album" full of "let's party and celebrate rock and roll" songs.1 point
