  2. I wonder if there have been behind the scene delays, or if this has been the plan the entire time. I hope that nothing comes up that hinders the promotion of the next album. Starting with the Trilogy, some kind of problem arises that takes attention away from the music, and it really sucks. It's never been that the album is bad. Billie's meltdown, health issues, global catastrophe. In 2023, I wish nothing but a healthy band and healthy fanbase. I think we all let other people's opinions or even made up opinions to influence how we feel about certain records. Maybe I like the Trilogy and FOAM so much just to be contrarian poophead. I don't know. But let's try to go into the new record with absolutely no misconceptions good, bad or mediocre. Not even with our high Green Day expectations. Listen to the record and feel however you want about it.

  3. A sign that they’re playing nothing but festivals and greatest hit setlists from here on out?

  4. I have always believed that about the Trilogy. The promotion was INSANE before I heart. Green Day were on every TV show, talk show. They were performing everywhere and there was going to be at least 3 singles from each album. Music videos. The records would have been spread apart instead of rush released. It's all about promotion. If Dookie had come out and there was no single, no video and no shows....Dookie would have flopped. That is exactly what happened with Dos and Tre. Even with an established name behind them, no promotion equals low sales. Even if they are bad, which they aren't....bad records top the charts all the time. Good or bad doesn't really go into the equation of success. 1972 needs a good promo. A HUGE lead single, like Blink-182's Edging. It will start the hype train. Heck, an acoustic single with strings wouldn't hurt either. There. I have added some substance to this sickly thread. I speculated. About 1972.

  5. Seems weird to use that logo on the poster. Guessing it's a placeholder.

  7. Awww! Thanks, you guys! It's good to be back! I've had a lot going on and big changes in my life (overall good things, though), so I've been quite preoccupied. It's nice to see that you're all still here too!

  8. More importantly it was a really sad time. Billie Joe has suffered with anxiety issues all his life. As a fan it was a tad difficult to concentrate on the music, wondering if he'd be ok, and that there was still a future for the band. I just wanted to give him a big hug. Thankfully, he pulled through, and bounced back to write Rev Rad.

  9. The trilogy was being well received, and I share the same opinion, iHeart fucked it all up. For Dookie, the thing that make it that big was Woodstock, before that the band was slowly growing, both on sales and public. After that, shit gone crazy

  11. While agree forever now isn't that great but the award for worst song has to go to sweet 16. My problem with here comes the shock and the other singles and father of all is tres drums now sound electronic especially when he does rolls it has like a rock band drum sound to the snare it's weird. Also Billie needs to let that vocal effect he's been using since American idiot (or actually maria and warning) go cuz I'm sick of it

  13. I think they're talking about the one of him in smiling in bed after the hospital stay in Italy, not after rehab.

  15. Also, sales where restricted with Lookout records from an indie label maybe? If I understand right, Kerplunk was the biggest selling record at that time for an indie label. A major label was the only option. Plus MTV plugging Dookie almost non stop.

  16. I would say more, the iHeartRadio thing and post-BJ rehab, fucked up the Green Day carreer in the mainstream. After that, the band go to a low level in terms of promotion and popularity in comparison with 2004 - 2012. It seems that the level of investment in them as a band has diminished from all sides too, most notably from the record label.
