Right I have to say something here cuz this comes up pretty often and it's infuriating: Just because Brit posts some nutty conspiracy crap, doesn't mean it's acceptable or even necessary to come on here and talk shit about her at every opportunity. Cut it out. Y'all don't know Brit, or 80 and Sara, or Billie and Mike. Y'all don't know what anyone in the GD world thinks, feels, or gets up to in their spare time. So stop coming on here and posting your own dumb conspiracies about the personal lives of random women who just happen to be married to the members of Green Day, as if it has anything to do with the band, the album, or this thread. It's honestly embarrassing, it's exhausting to read, and it's nobody's business anyway. Just stop. As for the actual topic at hand cuz I'm confused and struggling to keep track with so much bullshit clogging up the thread - has anything actually happened recently other than the pics with CLA, and do we know for certain what they're doing with him? Or is everything still pretty much in the dark?8 points
-
I agree!! Look guys, let's just get back on topic here because IMO, the recent posts from CLA seem to imply they're starting up the 1972 hype train once again!!! Let's all just hop on board because it's going to be one hell of a ride!!!!!!!!7 points

Agreed 100%. I still can relive the moment in my head. Everyone waiting in anticipation... The lights go dark... radio frequencies echo, then Song of the Century starts... the entire arena are all singing along with you and that's when you hear it, the beginning of the song... You are about to actually see Green Day and the show is going to be amazing... Nothing else exists except this moment. The stage lights up with a cityscape, the band walks out and everyone screams... Tre sits down and starts thumping away on the drums and as it gets louder, Billie climbs up and just as the song kicks in... "BOOM!" and Billie Jumps and plays the opening chords of the song. One of Green Day's most epic songs ever has just started and it hits you.. that's when you realize that the next 7 or so minutes are going to be among the best 7 minutes of your life... and the show is only getting started. American Idiot was a great opener for the album and tour, but it doesn't come close to 21st Century Breakdown.5 points

GDA has landed on Tumblr! https://greendayauthority.tumblr.com/ Follow for daily photos, quotes, fanart and more! If there's something you'd like us to reblog, like your fanart or photos from a show, feel free to let us know here or on Tumblr. Now you can search the GDA Tumblr by era: And by side project: And there's a tag for other stuff but nothing on it yet.4 points

There are no pics of Brit with anyone related to the band for about 2 years now, after the 3 wives consistently posted pics together at almost every GD event. And during the Hella Mega tour, Mike and Brit posted pictures completely separate from everyone else. Brit has also admitted on her IG account that she's lost lots of friends because of her views. It's pretty clear what's going on here. And Mike is in the middle because he loves his wife and his band mates. And yes I know, no speculation about personal lives and all that. But I think this is an important dynamic in the band currently as far as why Mike often seems to be the odd man out. I don't think he's any less devoted to Green Day though.4 points

For me it's 21st Century Breakdown. Everything opening from that tour was perfect starting with the playback of Rock-'n'-roll Radio from Ramones then the build up with Song of the Century and the build up continuing through the first notes on the piano culminating with the guitars and fireworks. I think Welcome to Paradise is a pretty awesome opening song as well. And in my dream show, the band would open with Panic Song. Can you guys imagine Green Day opening with that bass line?!4 points

The only reason Billie and Mike aren't seen together as much socially is because of Mike's crazy wife. The other wives want nothing to do with her either. Other than that, I think Mike and Billie are just fine.3 points

21st Century Breakdown for me. Gave me goosebumps every time it started to play before the show3 points

Anyone else think, due to how successful it was on Father of All…, the new album could be Billie singing in falsetto exclusively?2 points

Nice to see him blonde again, although in some photos it makes him look like Princess Diana 😅2 points

^^ Was scrolling down fast and noticed Chris' teeth which actually look very similar to Billie's (off-centre and fake) and had to do a double take cuz for a second I was like 'wait, when did Billie get old?!?' 😱😭2 points

That's exactly it. If I close my eyes when I hear it it all comes back to me just as you describe2 points

I loved the „Song of the Century“ Intro when the lights were off and everyone‘s singing in the dark. And when 21stCB started I got goosebumps when they turned on the lights, showed the LED skyline and walked on stage. But I would love to hear the new Medley/Intro with Know Your Enemy back during the RevRad Tour2 points

21st Century Breakdown, hands down. I love 99 Revolutions and it was an amazing opener (my second favourite for sure), but nothing has ever quite captured the excitement of seeing my favourite band like Rock 'n' Roll Radio, then Song of the Century followed by 21st Century Breakdown. That may be purely sentimental though, because it was my first tour and the best one in my opinion. I still remember that feeling so well that I get butterflies whenever I hear Rock 'n' Roll Radio. I really don't mind Know Your Enemy as an opener. The drums build a pretty exciting atmosphere. I'd obviously prefer a song I like even more, but I doubt that'll ever happen, so Know Your Enemy is perfectly OK. Haven't seen American Idiot but I imagine it'd remind me of watching Bullet in a Bible and I'd probably enjoy it. Brutal Love was the best closer. Last Night on Earth and When It's Time were good, but nothing quite compares to Brutal Love.2 points

Jesus Christ who gives a fuck? Can we just leave Britt alone for god sakes?2 points

It is also a Les Paul Black Beauty but from the looks of it it's most likely a reissued model and not a vintage. I know he has a habit of breaking guitars but I feel like he's smart enough to not smash a vintage model2 points

I can't read this in the UK but thought I'd post it as people have been talking about the setlist2 points

The running joke used to be that Green Day were NOT the Network and now the joke is that they ARE the Network. Neither is true and neither makes any sense, but also does and isn't. They can fake being together or fake being apart. Or really fake doing fake real stuff that's real or really fake. And besides, Van Gough has a time traveling car. So even if they were Green Day and the Big Three or Green Day and Devo, they could still do stuff together.2 points

Now, I think that @Redundantuserjinxboy probably has insider knowledge and is onto something here. The word "impossible" is separated in parentheses, which likely means it's important. If you take the word impossible, and count where each letter in the alphabet, you get 9+13+16+15+19+19+9+2+12+5, this equals 110. This could mean two things, either the new album is 110 minutes (just under 2 hours), which confirms the rumours of a double album OR If we divide the supposed album name, 1972/110, we get 17.92 'What's special about 17.92?' I hear @That Dudeask. Well "The American rock band Green Day has released 13 studio albums and 4 live albums", which is the 17 part, and '92 is the first year in the 90s that the band didn't release an album. This leads me to believe, that 1972 will be a culmination of the bands previous albums AND be seen as a gap between Kerplunk and Dookie.2 points

This is what happens when we don't get a teaser in so long! People turn to drama. I think one of the best things about having an old friend is that you can go without talking or seeing that person (sometimes completely accidentally) and then give them a call out of the blue one day as if nothing happened. These are married people with families, I don't know why there's any expectation that they'd see each other all of the time outside of work. Quick reminder that Mike played the Halloween Coverups show. And that the band aren't super active on social media in general so not running into a post of that particular combination isn't exactly a longshot (hehe get it) - also the fact that it's always seemed like (at least since AI) when recording parts it tends to be Billie and Tre playing together to start with and then Mike records later, as seen in HLAHG etc. I think that's just the way the band locks in best for recording so it's not a surprise that in studio photos it's more common to see Billie and Tre together than anything else; and often Billie alone as he is usually acting as a producer just as much as Rob is. Anyway - I'm thinking if they're back in mixing it's safe to say they had something done but then wrote extra material, decided to change some things etc. and now they're back having recorded all of that to finally review CLA's mix of the album. Meaning it's basically done, probably some final touches of automation and printing of the mixes on CLA's part and then mastering! Which really shouldn't take more than a week or two imo. Of course we still don't know whether they'll sit on a finished record until 2024, but this gives me some hope that we are indeed getting the record this year, probably autumn or something considering the state of vinyl production etc. That could mean a Spring single 🤔2 points

There’s nothing wrong with the relationship of Billie and mike. Mike literally bought him a mustang for his birthday last year. If someone’s different opinion on stuff really bothered Billie to the point that he didn’t want to be friends with them anymore then I don’t think the band would’ve recorded Bill Maher’s theme song.2 points

I like the idea of them saying that at every show. Sort of a commentary on farewell tours. It would be funny if they said they all hate each other now, but then go out as the Foxboro Hot Tubs around the same time, haha! I bet those Network guys would break up at the same time as Green Day just to further the speculation of them being Green Day.1 point

Billie actually had quite a lot of falsetto or falsetto-like vocals on 21CB. He wasn't singing entire verses in falsetto or anything but it would pop up every now and then, even on some of the faster tracks like Murder City or East Jesus Nowhere and it sounded nice whenever it came up on the album1 point

Pretty brave of them to open the album with a sequel to part 3 of Jesus of Suburbia, but it works. Glad they changed the title from Jimmy Crack Corn and I Don't Care to I Don't Care 72. And then the 2nd track is the big ballad and then an Idiot style song and then the all new, all different insanity where we can't even recognize any part of the band as Green Day.1 point

The opening song will start with the line "Everything's so fucking shit, and I for one am sick of it" There'll be no other swearing at all1 point

One can conclude it from the many pictures of Adie and Sara together at events, including Green Day performances. No Brit in any of them for awhile now. They used to always post the 3 of them.1 point

So Green Day are making the soundtrack to Face-off (reboot) where Mike Dirnt trades faces with Putin and it's up to Green Day and the Network to team up and stop him before he destroys the universe. 1972.1 point

I had a dream last night where I ran into Billie while he was on his way to meet Chris Lord Alge and I asked him about 1972 and he said that it's a 72 minute double album and it's going to be released in December. It would be kinda funny if it was 19 songs over 72 minutes1 point

I hope that once they’re finally doing press for this album the first question they get asked is, “You started recording in October 2021 and were shown to still be mixing this record in February 2023. Why did it take so long?”1 point
