Chris lord alge posted a pic of him with Mike and tre and he said it's from today, so hopefully they're putting the final touches on the mix right now!11 points

This is what happens when we don't get a teaser in so long! People turn to drama. I think one of the best things about having an old friend is that you can go without talking or seeing that person (sometimes completely accidentally) and then give them a call out of the blue one day as if nothing happened. These are married people with families, I don't know why there's any expectation that they'd see each other all of the time outside of work. Quick reminder that Mike played the Halloween Coverups show. And that the band aren't super active on social media in general so not running into a post of that particular combination isn't exactly a longshot (hehe get it) - also the fact that it's always seemed like (at least since AI) when recording parts it tends to be Billie and Tre playing together to start with and then Mike records later, as seen in HLAHG etc. I think that's just the way the band locks in best for recording so it's not a surprise that in studio photos it's more common to see Billie and Tre together than anything else; and often Billie alone as he is usually acting as a producer just as much as Rob is. Anyway - I'm thinking if they're back in mixing it's safe to say they had something done but then wrote extra material, decided to change some things etc. and now they're back having recorded all of that to finally review CLA's mix of the album. Meaning it's basically done, probably some final touches of automation and printing of the mixes on CLA's part and then mastering! Which really shouldn't take more than a week or two imo. Of course we still don't know whether they'll sit on a finished record until 2024, but this gives me some hope that we are indeed getting the record this year, probably autumn or something considering the state of vinyl production etc. That could mean a Spring single đ€9 points

Thereâs nothing wrong with the relationship of Billie and mike. Mike literally bought him a mustang for his birthday last year. If someoneâs different opinion on stuff really bothered Billie to the point that he didnât want to be friends with them anymore then I donât think the band wouldâve recorded Bill Maherâs theme song.9 points

Whenever we get this album, I just really want a fresh setlist. Hell even just change up the order and swap out 2 songs if that's all they're willing to do. Looking at the last setlist and seeing the exact same thing as the past 2 years was disheartening. I don't expect a 21CB epic setlist that changes every single night anymore (but that would be incredible to have again) but something like the RevRad setlist would be nice.9 points

People should stop speculating about their personal lives. They've been friends for like 40 years at this point. They didn't talk for months after iHeartRadio 2012. This is nothing new that they're not appearing on same pictures together. Green Day wont continue on if either leaves, that's for sure. Jesus christ this thread already has 320 pages? What the fuck? Has there been any news on possible release date or albums status?8 points

I hope that once theyâre finally doing press for this album the first question they get asked is, âYou started recording in October 2021 and were shown to still be mixing this record in February 2023. Why did it take so long?â7 points
-
They still seem to have a professional relationship good enough to record a new album together and tour. Maybe they donât hang out as much because theyâve known each other for the last 40 years, maybe thereâs been a rift (and I could see how that might happen), but at the end of the day, Iâm not worried, because if nothing else, theyâre too businesslike to break up the band over personal differences.7 points

Iâve learned with GD and more specifically with BJA over the years is that they get excited and vocalize stuff impulsively. I take what they say with a grain of salt. Iâm personally tired of albums dropping just to say we dropped an album. It worked for the trilogy as something different that was unique to that era but it feels like weâve been stuck in this bad dream for far too long. I want them to push out quality this time. The excuse is gone, theyâve fulfilled the record label deal and theyre onto whatever is next. Make it worth something and dont rush and waste our time. I dont want to see a tour date here in 2023 where they play Pop Disaster tour post AI version setlist. I want a show that is unique to an era. 21cb leg 1 is a perfect example of that experience. At the time I didnât appreciate it in full but as I look back it was absolutely a great setlist. Even when they came back a year later the setlist changed but was still as rich. if you offered a show in 2023 with the recycled setlist and script or a 2025 show that pushed their show into a new direction Iâm going to take 2025 every day of the week.7 points

I finally found a full version of their 2009 SNL episode and it's fun because it was like the beginning of my descent into madness. I was a casual fan and didn't really like KYE, as a SNL stan I of course was watching the episode and it was the first time I heard 21 Guns and loved it. That made me more willing to see them live and three days before the 21CB tour date near me, I bought a ticket to the show and became obsessed after that. Just a fun trip down memory lane. Also funny to see Tom Hanks cut Tre off as they walk off in the Goodnight Saigon sketch and Billie try to fuck with Will Ferrell during the goodnights đ6 points

Green Day rumored to have been invited to replace Blink-182 at Lollapalooza Brazil with their imminent canceling (due to Travis' injure). Really hard to pull off with less than 30 days, but the dates would work.5 points

It seems like theyâre happy taking their time with this one, which I'm totally okay with. Weâve actually been pretty lucky post Rev Rad, with the Longshot, FOAM, No Fun Mondays, The Network, etc. at this point Iâm happy for them to buckle down and be more deliberate with this one. I donât see this coming out until late this year at the earliest, but maybe even next year.5 points

Plus I read an interview with Patrick Stump last week where he said they (Green Day) hang out together even after the shows and day offs like a big family which he dont know about other bands4 points

Yes. That's why I think it's really interesting why they are still mixing with CLA, although he was already mixing the album almost one year ago.4 points

Iâm thinking that when we first saw CLA, he was mixing the EP we originally speculated about. Now heâs back, so heâs probably mixing the full album!!!3 points
-
I believe he will be the first to step out of the band if that were to happen. I know there we're some discussion about his wife also being outside of the "wife's group" at some point. We have seen less of him the last years, but it doesn't have to mean anyting. They all live different lives but still comes together at the stage and in studio.3 points

Yea, love that doc'. Remember the bit where there's a board in 3 sections, with the name of each song on individual cards stuck to each section on board. Billie Joe is holding a card trying to decide which of 3 to put it. Then just Chuck's it at board. Love it3 points

21st Century Breakdown for me. Gave me goosebumps every time it started to play before the show2 points

Random Green Day live performance thoughts are random. This is the best live performance of She in E Standard. Shibuya performance from the same year comes close thanks to the solo Billie Joe added to it (press this if you haven't heard it yet) but I still prefer Reading's high energy. Murder City with Billie's own intro and in Eb Standard was much better than album version or other E Standard performances. If you're tipsy and happen to be in concert, this is the best song Green Day has ever produced and nothing else comes even close to it.2 points

Request mods/admin to close/delete this thread until further announcement from the band. We are getting nowhere.. i come here like every hour hoping for a good news just to hear dreadful rumours like tensions between Billie and Mike. I am so fking done.2 points

Okay this is the end of green day. Billy Joel and Mike dork have officially call it quits2 points

I want the first track of the album with Billie shouting "shoooooooo". Just like armatage shanks. Would be wholesome2 points

So glad! That song is such a disappointment. I hope the new album sounds nothing like that. Pollyanna is not a great song. Pollyanna and HCTS were shit for Green Day level but at least it was something new. Grateful HCTS wasnât on the boring repetitive set lists. Glad HCTS never was played. Holy Toledo was great. Too bad Pollyanna was on the setlist instead. Hopefully Pollyanna isnât an indication of the direction of the new album. Iâm glad they dropped it.2 points

Hexology confirmed. I'm go make videos about it, and ton of rambling, incoherent tracklists. The band could have the tagline "LET THE CRINGE BEGIN" or "SEASON OF THE CRINGE!" 1. Sha..... not here though.2 points

This is tough, because I love the heck out of all three. But I've counted how many top tier songs are on each one, and this is my ranking. Dos is the worst of the bunch, with 4 out of 13 songs that are perfect. Lazy Bones, Ashley, Nightlife and Amy are my favorite ones. Yes, you read that correctly. Tre has Brutal Love, Missing You, X-Kid and Walk Away, and even some of the lesser songs rock pretty hard. I nearly chose this one over Uno, but while this one may win in most 'song against song' cases, Uno is just solid across the board. Uno - I'd say Nuclear Family and Carpe Diem are the weaker songs, but everything else is perfect.2 points

I'm sorry I'm going to piss you off here and start up a hornets nest again. How can GD and The Network team up when they are obviously the same band with the same band members. đ1 point

I suppose it would be fun. A change from the the excitement and frantic activity over on the 1972 speculation topic. I assume the criteria for the knockout will be a straight vote, with the album with most votes progressing. What happens if you have a tie? So you could have the scenario of a semi-final face off of, Kerplunk versus American Idiot. 21st CB versus Dookie. An American Idiot v. Dookie final possibly. Maybe before we start see what the odds are. Who are the favourites and who will be the rank outsiders. FOAM the dark horse?1 point

A better name might be "GD Album Faceoff" or "DB Album March Maddness Bracket" because I too thought this poll was about the new album name1 point

Now, I think that @Redundantuserjinxboy probably has insider knowledge and is onto something here. The word "impossible" is separated in parentheses, which likely means it's important. If you take the word impossible, and count where each letter in the alphabet, you get 9+13+16+15+19+19+9+2+12+5, this equals 110. This could mean two things, either the new album is 110 minutes (just under 2 hours), which confirms the rumours of a double album OR If we divide the supposed album name, 1972/110, we get 17.92 'What's special about 17.92?' I hear @That Dudeask. Well "The American rock band Green Day has released 13 studio albums and 4 live albums", which is the 17 part, and '92 is the first year in the 90s that the band didn't release an album. This leads me to believe, that 1972 will be a culmination of the bands previous albums AND be seen as a gap between Kerplunk and Dookie.1 point

I guess that means when we first saw CLA, maybe they were mixing the EP? And now theyâre mixing the full album? Pollyanna was written as a hope for the future in a post pandemic world, but now, the pandemic is pretty much old news, so it makes sense to drop it.1 point

Sadly thatâs not the case. You can very easily find the companies that hire out the musical around the world and see what you get in the pack and sadly there isnât instrumentals. I also spoke to a friend whoâs done the musical and has confirmed you donât get it1 point

It got thrown into the hurricane katrina mess too. Youâre right there was no better time to drop that song. Green Day had no trouble shooting out hits for AI but this song was literally a right place at the right time ordeal.1 point

This is really interesting. It looks like that the original mixing engineer Green Day wanted for American Idiot was Tom Lord Alge (Chris's brother), but since they didn't want to go to Miami to his studio, Tom recommended his brother Chris in LA, who by that point already mixed nimrod and some live stuff and was also Rob Cavallo's right hand. It's kind of weird. Tom was known at that time for mixing a lot of pop punk / alternative stuff like Blink 182, Sum 41, Goo Goo Dolls etc., so I guess that was the connection the band wanted. I'm glad that it turned out like it did in the end. CLA also got his first Grammy for American Idiot.1 point
