  1. I’ve learned with GD and more specifically with BJA over the years is that they get excited and vocalize stuff impulsively. I take what they say with a grain of salt. I’m personally tired of albums dropping just to say we dropped an album. It worked for the trilogy as something different that was unique to that era but it feels like we’ve been stuck in this bad dream for far too long. I want them to push out quality this time. The excuse is gone, they’ve fulfilled the record label deal and theyre onto whatever is next. Make it worth something and dont rush and waste our time. I dont want to see a tour date here in 2023 where they play Pop Disaster tour post AI version setlist. I want a show that is unique to an era. 21cb leg 1 is a perfect example of that experience. At the time I didn’t appreciate it in full but as I look back it was absolutely a great setlist. Even when they came back a year later the setlist changed but was still as rich. if you offered a show in 2023 with the recycled setlist and script or a 2025 show that pushed their show into a new direction I’m going to take 2025 every day of the week.

  2. You aren't the one who sounds stupid – what that person said would be laughable if it hadn't hurt you because it's so ridiculous, but I'm so sorry they were able to get to you. I've said this on here before, but concerts are public events that anyone can attend. Queuing to be up front is something that anyone who's physically able and has the time can do. Of course there are creepy people who do those things, but they're creepy because they do other things (like showing up at hotels/houses/whatever), or because they do it purely to be noticed, not just because they go to lots of shows or queue. There are all kinds of reasons people go to lots of shows and/or want to be up front – maybe they just adore the music or the show, maybe they find it therapeutic, or maybe they're up front because they need to be able to lean on the barrier. Even just having a crush on a band member and wanting to see them up close isn't inherently creepy. If someone does consider it so, it says more about them than it does about the person they're making assumptions about. They obviously can't imagine any non-creepy reasons for it. The thing that person said about getting people onstage is especially ridiculous, because I mean... just look at Billie's face when anyone gets up there. Also, I've been to lots of shows and been onstage myself and the band have only ever interacted with me in a friendly way. If anything, Billie was even nicer to me after I got onstage. Mike once gave me his jacket. They do not automatically hate everyone who goes to lots of shows and getting them onstage is not a way to tell them to fuck off. They're not stupid – they can tell the difference between a devoted fan and a creep. Are there any photos of you onstage? I'm sure Billie was grinning at you just as happily as he is in those photos above! As for going to shows because it's therapeutic, I totally get that, too. That was my primary motivation when I first started going to lots of shows. Nothing helped me quite like seeing Green Day did. I compiled a book of Green Day fan stories in 2017 and so many others said the same. You're not alone at all. It may not be entirely healthy, but it's not creepy or uncommon. Everyone deserves something to look forward to. Please don't stop going to shows because of some bullshit you heard from someone who's clearly jealous, and please feel free to PM me if you want to chat to someone else who's been to a lot of shows.

  3. Uno is safer, but the fun one is Dos. Even if certain "demo" version of certain song is vastly superior to one that appears in the record. What makes me kind of annoyed with Tre is Drama Queen. I loved the acoustic live version of 2009, but on the record is auto skip. The live version of Amanda is better as well. Love The Forgotten, truly a gem.

  4. Not creepy at all to go to a lot of shows. It's only creepy if you're showing up at their houses, stalking them, etc. Going to shows is what fans do. When Billie made that comment, it was about people who had to be first row at all the Longshot shows. He wasn't telling people to stop going, just let others have a chance at being up front. And if this person is the same person I'm thinking of, they've been to a million shows up front too. And their comment about Billie picking people that he doesn't like makes no sense. Half the time, he picks kids. I doubt he doesn't like them. @Beerjeezus makes a good point of making sure to have other things in addition to Green Day as well, since you never know when they'll go quiet. As long as you're happy and not hurting anyone, ignore the naysayers. They have their own issues.

  5. I mean I'm sure we are all a little like that otherwise we wouldn't be here, right? We all relate to Green Day in a much deeper way than any other bands and there is nothing wrong with that. Your soul feels what it feels and nobody can tell you what is normal or not or how many concerts you can attend. I don't think Green Day "hate" any of their fans and I don't think they are ignoring people that go to multiple shows...rather they may be trying to engage with fans that they haven't seen at multiple shows so that everyone feels the love, right? Anyway, I don't know the person you're referencing but I agree with others that they are being downright mean.

  6. The gift to CLA they're taking about is that he got to be the guy who mixed American Idiot Part II 😉

  7. It got thrown into the hurricane katrina mess too. You’re right there was no better time to drop that song. Green Day had no trouble shooting out hits for AI but this song was literally a right place at the right time ordeal.

  8. At the time it was released I was most excited for Dos. It was more relevant to my life and lifestyle at the time. Out of the 3 Uno is the best Green Day album and seems to be the album that makes the most sense of the 3 to follow 21cb. With my group of friends at the time Uno was the most well received and I think from a commercial standpoint it also was well received until the iheart thing. It was getting steady airplay here until the iheart incident.

  10. Just block them everywhere you can - they've been annoying everybody in the fandom for the past decade. That said, it's important to have other things in your life than just fandom, not because it's bad to go to a lot of shows, but because going to shows isn't fundamentally in your hands and it's good to have other things that make you happy and that you can keep busy with while the band is on a break.

  13. Thank you for sharing your feelings, that took a lot of courage. You are not stupid, and you have nothing to be sorry about. Just follow your heart, and go see GD as often as you want and can. Words cannot fully explain that feeling you get each time you see them play. Just enjoy. If anyone tries to put you down coz you love seeing GD they're only jealous of your happiness and haven't got what you have. They're loosing out. Take care.

  17. I don’t think that’s creepy at all, most bands have super fans who go to lots of shows and while it may amuse them a little, I think they must like it. If you were stalking them after each show, turning up at their hotel etc, that would be creepy. I don’t believe that stuff that other fan told you re Billie getting fans up on stage, sounds like nonsense to me.

  19. Oh guys listen to the end of the video. Tré says that Chris Lord-Alge "got a pretty good present this year" from Billie too. So maybe he means a pretty good album? https://www.instagram.com/reel/CpHA4ncqrPd/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

  21. For me, personally, its Tre. By far actually.

  22. Yea, love that doc'. Remember the bit where there's a board in 3 sections, with the name of each song on individual cards stuck to each section on board. Billie Joe is holding a card trying to decide which of 3 to put it. Then just Chuck's it at board. Love it

  23. This! The documentary was great. For the three albums Uno is the best except for Sweet Sixteen is the worst out of all the songs I don’t know how it made the cut out of the more than 30 plus songs written for the Trilogy. Agreed!

  24. Basically the chorus is "Someone kill the DJ, someone shoot the DJ". Instead of "Shoot that fucker down", they say "Shoot the DJ down". "Hold him underwater til that motherfucker drowns" is replaced by "Hold him underwater til he suffocates and drowns"

  25. It seems like they’re happy taking their time with this one, which I'm totally okay with. We’ve actually been pretty lucky post Rev Rad, with the Longshot, FOAM, No Fun Mondays, The Network, etc. at this point I’m happy for them to buckle down and be more deliberate with this one. I don’t see this coming out until late this year at the earliest, but maybe even next year.

  26. Uno is the weakest imo. The 2nd half (outside of Oh Love) just doesn't have any stand out tracks imo but those first 5 songs are all a high point for the whole trilogy Dos is pretty great and definitely the most overhated GD album. Idk why people constantly say that Dos is the weakest trilogy album. The only downsides of this album imo is that See You Tonight is a boring intro track, Fuck Time is cringe lyrically but still sounds good and Lady Cobra's contribution to Nightlife. Otherwise, Nightlife is a fine track Tré is pretty great too, although Drama Queen really bores me. Otherwise nothing on this album is any less than solid and there are some real highlights here too like Brutal Love, X-Kid, Dirty Rotten Bastards. I will say that the demo version of 99 Revolutions is way better than the album version but I can still get enjoyment out of the album version too The trilogy is a definite step down from American Idiot and 21CB imo. It's far less consistent as expected from a 37 song project. However, there are still plenty of real highlights, including some of the very best Green Day songs imo. I feel there's a lot of good guitar solo work across the trilogy, even better than a lot of the guitar solos in AI/21CB and Mike has more standout basslines here than on AI/21CB That's quite the claim when you look at their other album openings. American Idiot, 21CB, Warning and Nimrod have great openings imo. Uno's is great too but I don't think it matches those

  27. The first three songs of ¡Uno! is, outside of American Idiot, the best opening to any album in their catalog.

  29. There's none official but it's the future so you can use machine learning. The site https://spleeter.online/ is the best web implementation of spleeter I could find but it only exports in mp3. https://ezstems.com/ exports in wav but has a 5mb upload limit so you can't really upload wav to begin with. If that matters to you, you'll have to learn to run spleeter on your own computer which is a little hard if you're not familiar with the command line. Anyway vocals and individual tracks are hit or miss depending on the song but instrumentals almost always sound great, here's Letterbomb as an example https://mega.nz/file/uJ1mFTDK#AcMjMua-wwWwi-WpSNREtexYiXD8Rot5ZROzmGJjhrA

  31. It was cruel what that person said to you and completely untrue. Don’t listen to fans that judge other fans, people rely on their favorite bands for all sorts of personal reasons and find it helpful. But if you are using concerts to self medicate instead of therapy, and you really are barely hanging on, might I suggest you consider regular therapy? It could be much more helpful and you could still go to Green Day shows for your own enjoyment, but not as an alternative to mental health care. Good luck.

  35. So up until the other day I thought the album was already done despite the rumors that they were still working on it. They had that video of them with CLA last year but this new video makes me think that they're definitely still mixing at least. If Billie got that as a birthday present then that means he got it very recently, and CLA posted a pic of him and Billie yesterday with Billie's new blonde hair, so it's a recent picture. I'm not sure how much mixing is left but then there's still mastering and production of merch, so I definitely think we're months away from hearing a new song. They'll probably do their usual routine of a late summer single with radio and TV promotion and some one off shows, then maybe do a small run of theater shows, and then go big with the touring in 2024

  36. I think every one of the three has its great moments, so it's really difficult to pick 😄 Tré was the first one I heard of them, so it's kinda special to me. But if I had to decide, I think it would be Dos
    2 points
  37. Hands down Uno. It's consistently good. The other one have their moments for sure, but I'm more likely to skip around Dos and Tre.

  39. Dos was the Green Day album that the band always wanted to make. The success of AI, as great as it was also limited some of their creative output plans. If AI wasnt as successful or didnt replace C&V you would have probably seen an extended version of the FBHT album released as the follow up. 21cb wouldnt have happened.

  40. I'm trying to figure out what Tré says right after that. "All that..."???

  42. This is really interesting. It looks like that the original mixing engineer Green Day wanted for American Idiot was Tom Lord Alge (Chris's brother), but since they didn't want to go to Miami to his studio, Tom recommended his brother Chris in LA, who by that point already mixed nimrod and some live stuff and was also Rob Cavallo's right hand. It's kind of weird. Tom was known at that time for mixing a lot of pop punk / alternative stuff like Blink 182, Sum 41, Goo Goo Dolls etc., so I guess that was the connection the band wanted. I'm glad that it turned out like it did in the end. CLA also got his first Grammy for American Idiot.

  46. There was no better time for WMUWSE to come out tbh. Billie was finally ready, and because it was only 3 years after and regarding the subject matter of the music video, people regarded it as a song about losing loved ones to 9/11 and the ongoing war. I regard it as the best song about grief, one of Green Day's best songs, and the best song Billie has ever written. (Although Whatsername is close.) Seeing it performed live too... no GD song hits as hard as that one.
    1 point
  47. I guess their point was that those songs would be removed due to them not being important to story; WMUWSE is the only song that doesn't have any affiliation with AI's main story and Homecoming could serve as albums closer instead of Whatsername, but that's the only thing I really disagree with. Whatsername is a perfect closer for a perfect album. I agree that WMUWSE doesn't belong on American Idiot and it could've been released as additional single or even postponed to next album. It's a great song and it absolutely deserves to be a single, but it still should've not been on American Idiot.

  48. My 4 year old son is discovering how great American Idiot, which is fantastic. He is, however, trying to figure out all the words. Cussing is fine because my ex wife cusses like a sailor, but he's asking me what a fack-bag is, haha. That's what he thinks Billie is saying in American Idiot and Holiday. 🤦 It is really interesting to see him listening to the story and piecing it together. He made up with own version of Boulevard of Broken Dreams. "I am all alone in this world. No one is here with me" intermixed with Twinkle Little Star. 😄
