They had to change plans when they all found out they were actually born in 1973. #197310 points

Nice one. Just what I needed. Last night I tried an experiment. Oh yeah, one important point, FOAM is out of the equation. That was a side show, having a party. Now back to the serious stuff. I sat down headphones on full blast, no outside disturbances. And played AI, 21st C, and RevRad, one after the other no break. That's 43 tracks and 2 hours 41 minutes and 9 seconds continuous GD. Still coming down like, but after listening to all the teasers, imho I think I know what the next album is gonna sound like. It'll be the next progressive step after RevRad. Man, it's gonna be fuckin awesome. Bring it on. 🤩7 points

One good thing about Fall Out Boy announcing their own tour, when Green Day announce theirs, it won't be Hella Mega 2!!!4 points

Came here to also voice my frustration that there has been no update/ETA on my vinyl and cd bundle package either. Demo album is great! Listened on Spotify and Black Eyeliner stopped me in my tracks. Wild how that turned into two different songs. The harmonica on Walk Alone is amazing. It sounds so pathetic that it's charming, haha.3 points

Was just coming here to post this! Been waiting forever for Rob to do an episode on them. It's really well done and worth checking out. Also helps that he's a fellow Ohioan and makes geographical references that I can relate to. 😂2 points

Has anyone considered the fact that maybe they were dissatisfied with the final product and are taking time to either re-record the album (or at least some songs), or maybe scrapping it entirely for something new? Wouldn't be the first time they did that and it worked out to their advantage. Everyone should just assume that now that Rob is back the wait might be worth it.2 points

Someone here mentioned they finished recording and the album is now in the mixing or something. Plus Tre‘s leg could be a reason they stopped teasing because they don‘t know when to start promoting the album, photoshoot etc. But then look at Fall Out Boy: the album comes out of nowhere (in march) and they announced their summer tour yesterday. Lets see whats coming the next weeks2 points
-
Is it significant that they teased this project pretty regularly from December 2021 to August 2022 and then effectively stopped? Like what happened then? Was that when there was some other change to the project that knocked it off schedule? Because it’s been nearly six months now with no official tease.2 points

I'll have to see if I can find the photos. He'd been slam dancing if I remember right Edit: it's here in scans that he had a busted knee during the sessions https://www.greendayauthority.com/news/data/upimages/escanear0013.jpg2 points

Well, there are things I liked and others not... or I considered as a "meh". Good things: * Keep the mix for Nimrod Album: Nothing more to say, Nimrod since 1997 is a perfect album in my opinion. I love the production (I assume it is the same mix, I didn't watch/read any "Remastered Version" in the promotion of Nimrod XXV) * Get unreleased material: It's really good to know some more content from this era, but... I will explain later. * The Art from CD and Vynil Version: I don't have any physical copy, but I watched many unboxing videos and I love the printed content. * The Live album: FOR YEARS i wanted an official release for Electric Factory Show. I remember the times I listened to Redundant Single (I think it was in 2003 or 2004), those live tracks just make me desire more and more recordings from that show. Then I could listen Time of your life from NGFL single and NGFL live from that vynil singles collection in 2009. It has some flaws, but finally my wish came true. Green Day sounded so different in that era, compared to current shows. The vibe/atmosphere/spirit of GD 90s shows feel more raw, now it is more "friendly" (Nothing against that, but I would had loved to be in a GD show in that era) * NGFL and TOYL Videos in 4K: Not part of this Boxset, but for ages I wanted classic GD videos in Full HD/4K. Bad things: * No expansion of Nimrod album: I know I said Nimrod is perfect, however Billie said Suffocatte almost was part of Nimrod. I see no reason that could have happened in this release. * The Demo album: To be fair, I got the point why this material didn't make the cut. I liked to listen to the demos of released songs, we could get the idea how much those songs changed. However, You irritate me, thankfully, was not part of Nimrod. It didn't impressed me at all. Alison cover... I wanted to listen to the band version. Black Eyeliner was a good surprise, not one of the best GD songs ever, but nice to know how this demo was a proto of Church on Sunday and Kill your friends. Place inside my head... it's ok (I give it some credit because Mike sings) Chain Saw is a good brief cover of Ramones. Tre's Polka... it's something different but boring. Overall, they could add more stuff like some alternate mixes (Prosthetic Head, the Richard Dodd Mix and Future Disc System versions of Redundant, D.U.I., etc) * Some flaws in the Live Record: First, the solo part and the fan playing guitar in Knowledge... what a waste. Knowledge sounded so good on Nimrod/Warning era. Paper Lanterns is so long... I have no problems with it IF I can watch the band (To be clear, in a DVD/BluRay/Video on YT). You know, watch the band interaction with the audience. However, just listen to the band playing the same riff for some minutes... for that reason I prefer the redundant single version, going to the best parts. I liked the "fast punk" part, though. Finally, I don't know why in the vynil version Brain Stew and Jaded were separated... it is a non-sense.2 points

They should do covers of all the 1972 songs, followed by FOAM, and then do Black Eye Liner for the encore.2 points

They knew Mike wasn't going to be there and they went ahead and recorded there anyway. I think he contributed his part remotely (he was in Austin at the time and there is a studio there they've used before). Outside studio time is too expensive to just scrap and redo it, I think those songs were fine but they maybe pivoted from an EP to a full album and finished the project in LA.1 point
-
I think what happened was, since they first went to London without Mike, maybe they wanted to re-record everything they did out there when they could be in the same room together, then they decided to just make a longer album from there.1 point

Such a bummer seeing so many big-name artists announcing summer tours (i.e. Fall out boy, beyonce, Lil wayne, etc) and nothing yet from our beloved Green day 😕1 point
-
I thought it was implied they were already in the mixing stage when they revealed they were working with CLA1 point
-
I know it’s been hinted at in other ways since (like Billie’s 1972 vest) but I was talking about the intentional posts hyping their next project, not just the stuff we see clues in. So that stopped last August (maybe to coincide with when they finished the main studio phase?)1 point

They also gave us this update in November where they mentioned touring and recording their record in London and LA https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRssfK8R/1 point
-
I think they cut that one down because it was R rated with Billie’s jerking off sounds and no kid could play the album in their house with their parents around 😂1 point
-
I 100% agree with your live album thoughts. If they're gonna do the fan thing with Knowledge, I don't mind watching it but listening to it is exhausting. They easily could've edited it down similar to what they did for HAR on BIAB.1 point

Yeah I'm pretty sure flying from SF to Oakland isn't possible. It's only a 30 min drive or less lol. I was thinking the same thing too, that since Mike is in the bay area that's why they're doing a show there.1 point

Don't knock it. Seeing them live on YouTube, even when repeating songs, it's always different and special. Not being there isn't the same, but I get the impression its more personal and interactive with the band, looks amazing. I know you'll all have the best time again.1 point

They’ve actually added some new songs over the past year. Now they’re doing more 80’s stuff like The Cure and The Go-Go’s. I love that1 point

I REALLY hate their store. I'm getting pissed because I've heard nothing about my foam finger order and it's not a pre-order afaik.1 point

Got my vinyl box set at a local record store today! The indie silver box sets are numbered, don't know about the standard box set. It doesn't say out of how many.1 point

I stumbled upon this by accident. Seems like Krist Novoselic wrote an article on 21CB when it came out. Pretty cool https://www.seattleweekly.com/news/krist-novoselics-column-runs-every-tuesday-on-the-daily-weekly-coming-off-their/1 point

Have these versions ever leaked in full? Love the orchestra in the mix, and Letterbomb which is in a totally different key (B instead of E). I would love to get my hands on full versions of these!1 point
